You were a cop. So falling in love with a criminal was, of course, not permitted.
But you couldn’t help it - just like your partner Carmelita, you had fallen in love with a member of the Cooper gang.
You didn’t know why, or rather how Bentley had stolen your heart in the first place, but you found yourself letting Bentley get away again and again, not putting on your best effort to get him.
Carmelita was more disclipined with getting Sly caught, but also her grip between her job and growing crush was wobbling. She knew about your interest on Bentley, so she confided about Sly to you - asking if you should give up your jobs, pass them to other officers to get them caught since you put feelings above your job.
You knew it would have been the right thing to do. But would it be morally right? You had decided that it wouldn’t be, you couldn’t bear seeing Bentley behind bars.
Besides, the Cooper gang wasn’t one of the most dangerous criminals out there. They weren’t harming any civilians or such, in fact they helped you with getting murderers and corrupted people behind bars, who you had hunted for years.
This all just made your feelings grow even stronger - and Bentley was battling with the same thought as you.
