Being a cop and loving a member of the infamous Cooper gang wasn’t easy and you often had to hide it. Carmelita was in the same situation, but fortunately you didn’t love the same person.
No, you loved Bentley. You didn’t exactly know how you had fallen in love with him in a first place, but still seeing him made your heart ache, knowing that you should be arresting him, arrest them all.
You had worked together sometimes and Bentley valued your help, but he was with Penelope. And you, even though heartbroken, were happy to see that Bentley was happy.
Penelope betrayed the Cooper gang though, betrayed Bentley. And that made you furious and you were sure to get her behind bars the moment she was returned to the present time. You felt tears in your eyes seeing how Bentley was sad about it - and even more so when Sly disappeared.
So you offered him your help. Carmelita was already doing her own investigation to find Sly, but you wanted to help too. Bentley needed to have his friends around him and seeing how much he worried about Sly and how Penelope had broken his heart just weeks earlier made you eager to help.
Bentley was suspicious of your help though, as you previously had helped by not arresting them and lying that they had already gone when you came to the scene. So now when you were willing to help Sly and talk to Bentley and comfort him - it was a new kind of help and Bentley wasn’t sure if he should accept it.
“I’ll be honest, I’m not sure if I should trust you with a matter like this.” he said as you browsed through files Bentley had created of Sly’s possible whereabouts. “You have never helped us with matters like these. Why do you care?”
You paused. You took in a big breath and turned towards him. “I’ll be honest too. I care because I love you. I have loved you for a long time.”
Bentley furrowed his brows at you and you shook your head. “It’s okay, I know you don’t feel the same. Penelope has just betrayed you and I’m a cop. I could easily betray you too.”
Bentley chuckled and shook his head. “No, I’ve had feelings for you ever since we first talked properly. And that was actually the reason I started this conversation, I wanted to know if you care because you have feelings for me too or if the reason is something else.”
You stared at him for a while, then smiled and took his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. You wanted to jump around with excitement, but you knew it wasn’t the time for that.
“We’ll find Sly. Together. And… then we’ll go to a date?”
He nodded. “I’ll be waiting for it.”
