This would be the first Christmas that Satine, Obi-Wan, Bo, Ahsoka, and Korkie were all going to have together, and Satine was determined to make it as special as possible. She wanted it to be so special that she had multiple things planned.
The first one was a trip to Leavenworth. That town was special to Satine, and she knew it was for Obi-Wan as well. After all, it had been the town where they had met and made their beautiful boy, Korkie.
Ahsoka also loved that town and she had been excited ever since Satine mentioned they were going to go back there.
“I can’t wait!” Ahsoka said.
Bo was holding her Switch and gave her a look. “Isn’t it just some town?”
“It’s more than just that,” Ahsoka said. And then she went on and on about Leavenworth. After awhile Satine wasn’t even sure that Bo was still listening to her.
“Wait, if it’s a German styled town does it have German beer?” Bo asked, suddenly seeming a lot more interested.
Great… When Bo had been with the Community, Pre would let her drink. Satine obviously wasn’t going to continue that, and she had hoped Bo had moved on from liking the taste of alcohol.
But apparently not.
And really who liked the taste of beer?
“That isn’t relevant to you,” Satine said, giving her little sister a look. “Because you are still too young to drink.”
“Beer barely even has alcohol in it,” Bo said with a pout. “It’s basically water.”
Satine sighed and shook her head, but at least that was the end of that. Ahsoka went back to her talk about the town. Bo turned on her Switch and started to play after awhile. That was when Ahsoka leaned over and looked at it.
“Which starter are you going to pick?” Ahsoka asked. Satine didn’t know a lot about Pokémon but she knew that was what they must be talking about. Satine and Obi-Wan had gotten them the two new games earlier. Ahsoka got one and Bo got the other. “I’m thinking of picking the grass Pokémon.”
“I’m going to pick the fire type so I can burn my enemies to the ground.” She looked at Ahsoka. “Including your grass Pokémon.”
Well, that sounded like Bo.
Ahsoka frowned. “Maybe I’ll pick water.”

A couple weeks later, the family went to Leavenworth. Ahsoka was looking at all the lights as if she was hypnotized. Bo also would sometimes look at them, but she seemed like she was trying not to look like she was interested. That was very much like Bo though.
Satine smiled at her little sister who stared back at her. “What do you think so far, Bo?”
“It’s so… Christmassy,” Bo said after a short pause.
“Yes, it is. This time of year,” Satine said, smiling at her.
“I still would like to try the beer,” Bo said.
“Bo-Katan,” Satine said with a sigh. She looked at Obi-Wan who was driving. But there was no way she was going to let Bo drink.
“It’s not even—”
“Your sister isn’t going to let you drink, Bo-Katan,” Obi-Wan said. “You should drop that.”
Bo scowled and leaned back in her seat. Satine didn’t know why she was suddenly so eager to drink. She hadn’t been that bad about it before.
At least she didn’t talk anymore about it and when they got to the vacation house they were renting, they all got out and chose rooms. Bo and Ahsoka would have to share, and Satine hoped that would go okay.
“You two can go out and look around if you want,” Satine said to Ahsoka and Bo when they had finished getting settled in.
Ahsoka grinned and grabbed Bo’s arm. Bo smirked and pulled away from her slightly but Satine thought that she might have been more excited than she was acting like she was. Her sister just liked to act like she wasn’t impressed with anything.
Or most anything anyway.
For some reason she loved weapons and things along those lines.
And apparently beer.
“But no drinking, Bo-Katan,” Satine said.
“I know that, Satine,” Bo said, rolling her eyes. She muttered something under her breath which Satine was pretty sure was about how Satine wasn’t any fun, but Satine didn’t care. So much had happened and because of that Satine was now the one who had custody of her little sister. She was trying to do the best that she could for her.
She still felt horrible that Bo had been alone for so long.
Obi-Wan gave the girls some spending money and then they went off. Satine smiled then and hugged him. “It’s just the two of us now.”
“Mama!” Korkie yelled, grinning.
“Well, the two of us and Korkie,” Satine said. If it had really been the two of them well… there were a lot of things she wanted to do, but some of those they could do when Korkie and the teens were asleep. She smiled and touched Obi-Wan’s cheek. “We should take Korkie to town. We can get a picture of him with Santa. Maybe we can go on a carriage ride too.”
Unlike some children, Korkie was fine with getting pictures with Santa. Or at least Satine thought he would be. He had been fine with the Easter bunny and really that could be much scarier. She didn’t know what it was about Easter bunnies, but it was as if they wanted them to look scary.
However, when they got to Santa, Korkie hadn’t seemed to get the memo because he freaked out. He screamed and cried and reached for Satine or Obi-Wan to come get him. They did end up getting a picture of him with Santa, but he seemed miserable in it. After they went on a carriage ride and Korkie liked that especially when it started to snow. He also liked the reindeer that they could see.
They were allowed later to get a picture of him on one and that was very sweet.
“Maybe one day he should learn to ride horses,” Obi-Wan said as he picked up their son.
“Maybe,” Satine said, but that would still be so long from now.
But Korkie was growing fast. Too fast. Time went by so quickly.
They walked around a bit more, admiring everything, but then Satine got a little chilly.
“Let’s just go back and pick up my jacket,” Satine said. She had one on, but it would be better if she had her second one as well.
It wouldn’t take long or she didn’t think it would, but when she got back Ahsoka and Bo were there again. That was the last thing she had expected. She thought they would be out much later.
“I’m surprised you two are back,” Obi-Wan said as he handed Satine her coat. She pulled it on.
Ahsoka looked at Bo, but she stayed quiet. Bo sighed and rolled her eyes.
“I just want to stay here,” Bo said. “Ahsoka wanted to go out but—”
“It’s best if the two of you stay together,” Obi-Wan said with a sigh. Satine agreed with him too, but she also didn’t think it was fair that Ahsoka couldn’t spend time out there just because Bo didn’t want to.
“I can stay with Bo,” Satine said, taking off her coat that she had just put on.
Bo made a face. “I’m fine by myself.”
“No, I want to stay,” Satine said and then she smiled. “We have the whole weekend anyway. And this way Obi-Wan and Ahsoka can have some time together. Well, with Korkie.”
Bo looked at her.
“That’ll be fine,” Obi-Wan said.
“Good because I have things that I want to do,” Ahsoka said. “But I didn’t want to leave Bo—”
“I’m not a kid,” Bo said, which wasn’t that uncommon for her to say. Satine had to resist rolling her eyes. “I’m older than you, Ahsoka.”
“Not by much,” Ahsoka said, which was true.
Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Korkie left soon after that. This might be good. Satine would be able to have some one-on-one time with Bo. Since things had improved, she didn’t get to spend as much time one on one with her. In a way, it was a good thing because Bo was adjusting to her new life, but Satine still liked having time with her sister.
“Are you still playing your Pokémon game?” Satine asked, trying to look at Bo’s Switch.
Bo nodded and pressed a couple buttons. “I sort of wish it was more like Grand Theft Auto.”
“Why?” Satine asked. She knew both of the games were very different, not that she was really into video games. She didn’t mind Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing but as a whole they weren’t really her sort of things.
“Because some of the trainers make me mad and deserve to die,” Bo said, not even blinking.
Satine sighed and shook her head. This was so like Bo. And really she blamed Vizsla for this. Bo hadn’t been like this when she had been a young child.
“Are you going to play that all night?” Satine asked. She would be okay if Bo did. She just wanted Bo to be happy after all and they were on vacation. “I know something else we could do if you wanted.”
“What?” Bo asked.
“I always love to watch Christmas movies around this time of year,” Satine said as she sat next to her little sister. “They’re fun and they get you in the holiday spirit.”
Bo didn’t react. Satine wished that she would have because then she would have understood what her sister was thinking. It was hard to read Bo much of the time. She knew that Bo had trained herself not to show emotions or reactions too much when she had been with Vizsla.
It made Satine sad that she had to do that.
“It does sound like something you would like,” Bo said, which didn’t sound that encouraging.
“Perhaps,” Satine said. “But I think you might like some of them too. Maybe not something like the Nutcracker.” Even though that was one of Satine’s favorites. “But perhaps something like—”
“That action movie with the hostages?!” Bo asked.
Satine blinked. “That’s not really a Christmas movie.”
“I heard that it was, Satine. You don’t know everything,” Bo said.
Satine sighed. “Fine, we can watch that if you really want.”
Bo nodded and smiled. “It sounds like it will be awesome.”
Satine nodded. She did think that Bo would like that movie. It was right up her alley with all the explosions and the action. And if Bo liked it, then Satine would watch it. What she wanted was for Bo to be happy after all.
And if that meant watching a movie that wasn’t really a Christmas one than that was fine with Satine.
When they were about halfway through the movie, Bo looked at Satine.
“What’s wrong?” Satine asked.
“I’m glad that I’m with you now,” Bo said softly. “I’m glad I’m with you and not Vizsla.”
Satine smiled and hugged her sister softly. “I’m glad too.”
And she was. She really was.
