Ceru has seen dittos before, she knows how they work. They transform into other pokemon. That is their entire gimmick and why her trainer thought her going against one in one of these ‘tera raids’ was a good idea she had no clue, surely he knew what was gonna happen right?
Her worries are put to the side though as it began, the goopy little blob crying out as ferociously as it can. She listens to her trainer’s command but the ditto transforms first, taking on her appearance. There is a feeling deep inside her and she's not sure what it is, though it's probably unease at seeing an exact copy of herself.
Her first attack lands and does decent damage, though it is not the usual she likes. Ceru can’t help but freeze at the sound of a whimper behind her, from her trainer. Was he upset at her attack not being stronger? She could fix that, she could just hit harder and put more behind her attacks. This is exactly what she does too.
Yet this did not please her trainer. She hears another whimper and even a sniffle. She needed to do better. She lands another attack and suddenly she is recalled to her ball. Her trainer has to be incredibly upset with her to just abandon a raid like that.
When she is let back out she expects her trainer to offer up an item to boost her attack or even a short scolding, the latter being incredibly rare. She did not expect her trainer to hug her tightly, crying.
“I would never hurt you, Ceru, I promise.”
It clicks and she can’t help but whimper. She didn’t consider how her trainer would feel seeing her or allies attacking a replica of herself. She does her best to wrap her arms around her trainer to return the hug, dimming the heat of her swords to not burn him. They stay like this for some time, her trainer promising her safety and her doing what she can to comfort him.
They weren’t doing any more Ditto raids.
