A spectacle in silence

Summary:

Leonardo Watch just wanted 5 minutes without something to go wrong. He was starting to feel his luck might be changing for the better…when an unknown entity snatched his left over meal meant for his dinner. Leaving a trail of star dust behind.

‘Anything can happen in Hellsalem’s lot…I guess. Even though I don’t get it whatsoever.’ Leo sighed.

Chapter 1: The Cheeseburger thief part 1

Chapter Text

‘Another uneventful day in Hellsalem’s lot. It’s always unpredictable…why can’t there be a few minutes of silence where I can finally feel my heartbeat for a change.’ Leonardo stared towards the gray smog sky.

Hellsalem’s lot…originally New York City before the collapse…3 years ago. Or was it 4? Leo had a hard enough time understanding what day it was. Considering he was always on the run from beyondigans and tourists visiting the city. A city full of daily explosions and god knows what else.

However, to Leonardo…this is normal. You just get used to its abnormalities after a while.

——-

The park seemed to be one of the only areas of Hellsalem’s lot that didn’t feel overwhelming to Leo. It still catered to a lot of different critters of all shapes..even humans seemed less disturbed and more serene.

Reaching into his lunch bag from Jack and Rockets…especially after the day he had so far with Zapp and Zed. It was nice to be away from their constant bickering about who’s better. Well…mainly that’s just Zapp sputtering. He always thinks he’s the best…

A small white and gray critter perched on Leo’s shoulder. It seemed just as interesting in a small bite as Leo was.

“Oh? Sonic! You startled me for a second…” Leo took a small piece of his cheeseburger and handed it to Sonic.

The cheeseburger was mouth watering as Leo started munching away under a shaded tree in the park. It felt…nice…maybe a little too nice? Whenever time seems to stop for Leonardo…his gut always sends a message to his fight or flight. Something doesn’t feel right?

‘This is too calming…there’s usually something bad that always happens when I’m idol. Or maybe…I’m just not used to having 5 minutes to myself to eat…without something blowing up in my face.’ Leo shrugged as he continued shoveling the food in his mouth as fast as he could. Sonic sighed too.

‘As long as I have at least one meal for this evening left over. I’m good…’ Leo sighed in relief as he finished his last morsel.

‘The wait time was outrageous at Jack and Rockets this afternoon…it didn’t give me much time to eat…so it’s probably best to head back to Libra, and see what colossal plans Klaus and Steven have in mind. We’re always fighting evil after all…even when I don’t sense that very well.’ Leo shrugged.

‘Oh I guess I did forget to mention…sorry…being hangry doesn’t make it easy to literate. My name is Leonardo Watch…I’m a minor member of the underground organization known as Libra. We’re mainly the Superman symbolism for Hellsalem’s lot. Always trying to put evil doers in their place. Mostly prison.’ Leo started to walk away from the park.

‘And this is my partner in crime…Sonic Speed monkey. He’s very protective..maybe. A lot of times I don’t really know where he runs off to. I just assume he’s as busy as I am…always on the run.’ Leo rubbed his friends head gently.

‘It still feels too calm to just walk away from the park like this. Usually I’m limping back by now to Libra, in need of first aid.’ Leo grimaced.

‘Maybe once in a blue moon..my luck has finally changed.’ Leonardo shivered as he sensed what felt like a ghost.

‘Speaking of the Devil…’ Leo turned around and opened his eyes to view anything out of the ordinary.

‘Whatever it was…it’s gone now…aaaaaawwwwwahhhh!!’ Leo freaked to find out his left over meal for tonight was snatched out his hand.

‘I didn’t even feel anything..and it’s gone. Alright..I’m not happy about another tardy with Libra. However, it would be nice not to go hungry again this evening. Missing meals sometimes really makes me testy.’ As he looked around the park for any signs of extraterrestrial activity.

The only thing he noticed…was a small speck of what appears to be a star dust trail leading further into the park.

‘Star dust…really?’ Leo scowled at the thought of a beyondigan leaving a trail of hues and sparkles.

‘I thought unicorns didn’t exist. Then again…this is Hellsalem’s lot! Anything goes.’ Leo sighed as he continued his search for the cheeseburger thief.
