Chapter Text
A poster slapped on the bar table infront of him, a knife stabbed in the face of the drawing. The man with a tipped hat, hiding his face, looks at the paper infront of him.
"You know, Dustin, it barely looks nothin' like me." The man scoffs as he scans over the poster.
"You know you're wanted even more now? Posters line them bounty boards in almost every town." The boy apparently named Dustin replies.
"5,000? I'm sure worth more than that. I mean, look at me? You think a man like me would be worth more." He jokes.
"Eddie, this isn't funny. We need to be hidin' better." A young girl with braided ginger pigtails walks into the bar.
Eddie looks up at her. "Been a long while since I have seen you here, Red."
"Max. My name is still Max." She retorts, even though she secretly missed the nickname he gave her. "Plus, I have been away. Lookin' for your wanted posters to take down. Found 43 in total. All spanning in price from 300 to 5,000 cash. Got asked by that sheriff if I knew where you were."
"Harrington? He ain't got one chance to find me, Red. I'm too sly to be found again by him. And if he does, I will just be escapin' like I always do." He laughs, dismissing how she told him to call her Max.
A lady comes out from the back of the bar. She's wearing a barmaid's dress, and her hair is up in fancy curls. "You're lucky I let you hide here, mister. I could be arrested for keepin' ya here." The woman says, walking out from behind the bar to stand by him. She crosses her arms in protest.
"Well ain't it Miss Nancy Wheeler. How are you my fair lady?" Eddie asks, taking her hand in his and kissing the back of it as he smirks.
"Don't get all gentleman on me, Munson. I'm serious about the situation. The sheriff is suspicious of me already!" She announces, getting up in his face.
All of a sudden, they hear horse hooves clomp against the trail and stop. They all look out the door, then to Eddie in alarm. Eddie tips his hat to Nancy and the others. "That's my que!" He smirks and runs out the back.
"Howdy sheriff! Nice to see you." Max says.
Steve looks passed the younger 2 in the bar, and straight at Nancy. "Are these kids botherin' you, Nance?" He questions.
"No, sir. I know both of em' very well." She nods in response.
He walks up to her and whispers in her ear. Something the others can't quite hear, even though they are close. Steve knows that they both try to eavesdrop.
"Oh my, sheriff! Such a thing is quite concerning." She says, gasping and faking her shock just enough to make him believe her. "Do you think he may be comin' here next?" She asks quieter.
"I'm not sure, Nance, but I wouldn't doubt his motives. Just make sure you're keepin' safe here." He replies.
"I am never without my gun under the bar, sheriff. And you know, I never miss my shot." She smiles, radiating with pride.
"I would hire you myself as a deputy of the town, but I ain't to allowed here." He shakes his head.
"Just because I'm a girl, doesn't mean I can't protect this town." She huffs, annoyed.
"Harington! He was just spotted!" Another man bursts into the bar. "I tried to get him, you know I tried, but he got away."
"I need to go. See you later." Steve says, winking at the group, and turns to the other man. "Let's go get 'em, Robin." He says and jogs out, hitching himself onto his horse.
Robin is a cross dresser. She hates dresses and being treated lesser, just because she was born a female. The only one who knows, is the one and only, Nancy Wheeler.
Nancy blushes at the sight of the supposed "boy," and the others notice.
"You got a thing for the deputy? Here I thought you liked the sheriff!" Eddie announces as he strolls back in casually.
"Shut your trap!" Dustin whispers loudly, practically talking in a normal volume.
Eddie laughs. "I ain't gonna get us in trouble, I made sure he was gone." He smiles and messes up Dustin's hair.
Nancy still blushes and sighs as she goes into the bar of the bar once again.
"Ain't he dreamy." Max mocks Nancy. "Oh how he's the man of my dreams! Deputy Buckley... So pleasant to look at."
The 3 all start to bust up in laughter. "That's a mighty fine impression of Miss Nancy Wheeler, Red."
"Why thank ya, Mister." She continues on in the same tone.
Eddie laughs even harder. "That's enough, Red. Look outside, sunrise gonna come up soon. We best get goin' to get some sleep." He tips his hat and walks through the back to get his horse. Saying his goodbyes to Nancy on the way out.
~5,000$ CASH~
Right after both the sheriff and deputy agree Eddie escaped, Steve looks at the bounty board in dismay, shaking his head as he realizes another poster for Eddie was taken down. All that's left is the tack with a scrap of paper stuck to it.
"You missin' the sight of lookin' at that ole' poster?" Robin jokes. "I would think you find that outlaw attractive, Dingus." She laughs.
"Shut your trap, deputy." He sighs and turns around to look at Robin after tacking another one of of the posters up.
"Deputy, you gettin' all huff and puff at me, are ya?" Robin laughs. "I'm just teasin' ya, sheriff."
"Teasing or not, the man needs to be found. Recent shoot offs, robberies, all with that smug grin of his. He has not one care about who's life and what he takes." Steve scoffs and gets on his horse. "I need to get him back in custody of the jail, ya comin'?" He asks, making eye contact with the other man.
Robin huffs out a sigh. "I think he may be hidin' somewhere around here. You should get yourself to other towns to look. You can get your way around a lot faster than I can, I barely know the layout of the other towns around here." She smiles.
"Get yourself lookin'. Don't slack on me Robin." He rides off to the East.
Robin smiles and runs to Nancy's bar, still closed for it being so early in the morning.
Nancy's face lights up as she sees her, running into her arms. Robin picks her up and spins her.
"I've missed you, Robin. Been too long since you've visited me." She grabs her hand and runs with her to the back of the bar.
Robin kisses her first, passionately and loving. "God, I've missed those soft lips of yours." She smiles as Nancy blushes. "Now, tell me, what happened with Eddie last night?" She asks eagerly.
"Well, ain't you excited to hear. I was hidin' him here, with Dustin and Max. We talked about the new bounty price on his head. His ego, larger than an old bull, complained that it wasn't high enough. Talked about how I was blushin' when I saw ya, and they think I like ya, which couldn't be closer to the truth." She smiles.
Robin smiles wider and kisses Nancy again. "You're special, Nancy, you know that? How do I deserve a lady as amazin' as you?"
"I don't know deputy, maybe the fact I love ya, more than anyone else, has got me all giddy when I even think about you." Nancy replies.
"I love ya too, my darling." Robin grins, blush dusting her cheeks. "Can you prove your love for me?" She flirts, knowing the answer already, she just wants to be with her longer.
Nancy kisses her again, softly a few times. "Does that prove my love?" She blushes and kisses her one more time on the cheek.
"Yes it does." Robin responds in approval.
"Now I need to set up the bar before I open soon. Then, tonight you can come see me again when Chrissy comes by. You go lookin' for that outlaw, now. Don't want the sheriff to get angry now, do ya?" She winks.
"No I don't." Robin frowns a bit and walks out the bar. "Gonna miss ya all day! Can't wait to see Chrissy's show tonight!" She says before walking back out to the jail.
