A House is not a Home

Summary:

This started out as a quick top 5 list, but after sitting with it for days I realized I needed to explain the little world I built....so expect more world-building than kissing, and as Chapa would say....."sorryyyy."

Con: Too much privacy

Work Text:

Following the stray and possibly radioactive cat incident, it turns out Bose’s mom was serious when she gave him the keys to his own house. He had been living on his own for about 2 and a half years now and sadly he still hasn’t gotten used to the huge space. If he can be honest he was already lonely being an only child and while the fantasy of independence was great at first, the reality set in when he would go home after a group adventure.

Slowly the giant mansion has become a spot for the young couple, the main attraction being the privacy awarded to them thanks to the gated community and the many many rooms to explore. In all honesty the mansion should be number one, but with the lingering resentment based on a punishment, the solitary confinement was intimidating. Plus the place lacked any personality tied to the owner (his parents hired the best interior designer money could buy).

Mika only really spent time with him in his room when they were truly desperate to get some alone time, usually when her family or when the world got too much. She had noticed that he had taken down most of the priceless art his mom got him except for her favorite ones and replaced them with his favorite band or movie posters. Other than his music collection, a few knick knacks here in there, she couldn’t help feel like his room was a hotel cosplaying as his bedroom, and she was well aware he felt it too. Bose rarely offered for the gang, let alone her, to go to his house. He made it known that he truly preferred her room.

Let's get one thing straight, the house was beautiful and could be great a few years down the line, but no matter how wonderful it was, there was still the giant elephant in the room…the bed. I mean they have talked about being intimate before, communication was a strong point in their relationship. Even though they are both 17 and are in a very serious relationship, it's still both their first real one and they both decided that they weren't there yet.

It was strange to think about how Bose had his own home and was technically independent from his parents. It was hard to explain, on one hand they could freely kiss anywhere in the house, but making out in the living room or the kitchen was…weird to say the least. They were just so used to being in Mika’s room that when they went to Bose’s house, it seemed like the most logical step.

In Bose’s bedroom, other than some decorative pieces one could hardly call sitting areas, the bed was the only viable option for a proper resting space. Approaching the bed always left them flustered. The centerpiece of his room was kind of daunting to navigate and it left them both bumbling and nervous around one another when they entered his room. It would always start with them starting on opposite sides of his giant bedroom and then slowly warming up to each other until they were sitting side by side. Music tended to help ease the process, because despite their usual rapport they couldn't help but feel out of place when they realized that they were finally alone and very much still hormonal teenagers. Their “make outs” would last maybe a quick second before either party suggested they leave the space by going downstairs to get a snack or work on homework in the kitchen.

Notes:

Y'all already know what time it is....past my bedtime lol *badumm tish*
Please don't leave because of that bad joke!!
Anyway I wrote this thinking it was going to be a fun little list but idk what happened because now the list is going to be five stand alone pieces.
5. Bose's house-
Bose's house was always sketchy to me, like is it even legal to send your kid away to live on their own? Where's kid judge when you need her!
Poor Bose, like his parents didn't even know he was missing when he went on international waters because they either don't care or because they didn't know he was gone and honestly I don't know which is worse, but I do know this house is a major reason for his parents' willful absence.
