Work Text:
It was December 23rd and Dean still hadn't gotten Castiel or Crowley a Christmas gift. Crowley had instructed him not to get him anything, Castiel was also on the same page. Dean had the sneaking suspicion though that they were still getting him something. He honestly wanted to get them something, but he procrastinated. He was currently pacing his room in the bunker. The tv was playing an old western movie that he wasn't paying attention to anymore. A single bed in the room was a mess, blankets everywhere. The desk now had a picture of him and Castiel, it was an awkward photo of them in front of the Impala. It was after a hunt that Dean had taken. There was also a picture of him and Crowley at a bar. Guns and swords were on the beige wall.
Dean hardly sweats what gifts he got, Sam and he seldom swapped any. This was his, Cas's, and Crowley's first Christmas. He thought it was important to get them something. It was Dean and Castiel's second Christmas together. For their first Christmas Dean gave him another tape deck and a collection of John Wayne movies for them to watch together.
Sam had been supportive of the three of them, he had predicted some anger about Crowley. There was some but once Crowley stopped harassing Sam for Dean's sake; they got along better. Most of the others had a similar opinion. Dean was with Castiel first. He had told Castiel he had feelings for Crowley and they had talked. Castiel confirmed he was jealous of Crowley but had developed feelings for him. Castiel wasn't mad at Dean in the slightest and admitted he had feelings for Crowley too now. This shocked Dean but Castiel had just shrugged, saying he appreciated his humor. Castiel was the one who landed on the idea of the three of them.
Later on, Sam had even admitted to Dean that he was dabbling in witch stuff a little more. Sam was talking with Rowenna which made Crowley happy and Crowley offered to help. Both caught Dean off guard but he tried to be encouraging. Eileen was being very supportive of Sam's new hobby. Crowley was as well. It strengthened the relationship between Sam and Crowley, which Dean was happy about. This had absolutely thrilled Rowena. When she found out about Dean, Crowley, and Castiel being together, Rowena stated monogamy was overrated.
Everyone was in a merry mood, except Dean. He was distressed about Christmas he could barely keep himself together. This was the longest relationship he had been in and the first with two partners. He loved Castiel and Crowley with every cell in his body, he couldn't deny that, and when the three of them made love. Dean bit his lip with his teeth, his thoughts drifting elsewhere. Dean shook his head. He was trying to get his mind out of the gutter which was near impossible but he needed to think of what to get the two of them. He also had to leave the bunker more than likely to get it.
Dean swore, grabbing the keys off the desk. He raced down the white brick halls of the bunker toward the garage. As he passed the kitchen Sam stopped him and he groaned.
"Woah Dean where are you going?" Sam's long chestnut was in his face, hiding his hazel eyes a bit. He wore an apron over his jeans and red flannel, similar to what Dean was wearing but no apron and blue flannel. Dean smelled ham and other holiday goodies and frowned.
"Out," Dean told him shortly, not wanting to be questioned or ask questions.
"Well bad news, the garage door is stuck again. We've been trying to repair it but we think it's the cold on the old hinges." Sam explained.
"We?" Dean asked.
"Bobby was helping. The girls and Jody and Donna are also here. We are doing the Christmas party, remember? That's why I'm cooking? For you can have time with Crowley and Castiel?" Sam reminded him raising an eyebrow. Bobby had been dropping by lately, which was nice. Bobby had been the one that took convincing of Crowley. Crowley teased Bobby about their kiss and Bobby almost shot him. It took a few months for Bobby to come around. He finally did when he saw how happy Dean was with the both of them, and once Crowley stopped teasing him.
"I thought that was on Christmas eve?"
"It is. Today is Christmas eve, remember they're staying for a bit?" Sam questioned.
"Son of a bitch." Dean swore. "I thought today was the twenty-third."
Sam raised an eyebrow at him again. "How much have you been drinking, Dean?"
"None actually...just nervous," Dean admitted.
"Ah. It's also Jody and Donna's and Claire and Kaia's first Christmas together." Sam told him. "Why don't you go see what the others are up to?"
"But..." Dean stopped himself mid-sentence.
"They don't have two partners?" Sam chuckled. "They don't care. Everyone is happy for you."
Dean smiled and then swung his keys in his hand. "I guess I'm not going out."
"Nope," Sam confirmed with a laugh even though it wasn't a question.
"Do you need help cooking?" Dean asked, trying to avoid at all costs going out to the main room to face everyone. Dean loved cooking. He was a little annoyed Sam hadn't hauled him out of his room to help prepare diner. Castiel wasn't with him, he was unsure what Castiel was doing today. A little annoyed with Castiel as well now. Dean figured they were giving him space since they all knew he was a nervous wreck no matter how much he tried to hide it.
"No." Sam laughed. "Eileen, Jody, and Donna have been helping. They may be talking right now, though."
Dean sighed and trudged down the hall into the main room. Red, green, and blue lights were on the railings on the black metal stairwell railing leading to the outside of the bunker. The map table in the center of the room had a small Christmas tree and fake presents with a nativity set. In the study section, most of the tables and chairs got rearranged. The main table was in the front. It had red placemats, Christmas plates that had little designs, silverware, and glasses. In the back was a healthy pine Christmas tree. The tree had many different colored ornaments and white lights. Classic Christmas music was playing in the background.
Jody, Donna, and Eileen were laughing at something Patience and Alex said. Jody and Donna were holding hands. Claire and Kaia were talking to Castiel and Jack. Bobby was talking with Rowenna, which Dean found odd but left it to this winding up being a joyous holiday for once. Crowley hadn't made an appearance yet and Dean frowned, a little upset he wasn't there yet. Dean knew this wasn't Crowley's thing, but he wanted him to be here tonight and he knew Rowenna did too.
"Hello, Dean." Castiel greeted as soon as he noticed him. He was wearing his usual tan trench coat, dark blue suit, and blue tie, his dark brown hair a mess. Dean walked over toward Castiel and the others who looked at him. Jody smiled, she was wearing a red sweater and black slacks, and her short dark blonde hair had hair product in it. Donna wore a blue sweater and long skirt, her blonde hair in waves instead of pulled back. Claire was wearing a short red dress, her blonde hair curled. Kaia was by her side wearing a black sweater and slacks, her dark hair pulled back into a ponytail. Patience wore a long red dress, her black hair was curly. Jack looked a little out of place. He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, which he was sure Crowley would say something over, Jack's blonde hair a mess. Rowena was wearing a long black dress that fit her curves, her red hair cascading down. Bobby looked even more out of place. He wore flannel as well but blue and white with jeans, he had a beer in his hand and wore a trucker cap. Alex wore a long black skirt and a burgundy sweater.
"Where's Crowley?" Dean asked Castiel in a low tone, standing close to him.
"On his way, love," Castiel told him with a smile.
"Hey, Dean." Jack greeted.
"Crowley is going to give you shit, kid." Dean laughed looking at Jack, who glared. Crowley had taken a liking to Jack right away, they bonded fast. Jack had many questions for Crowley who happily answered. Crowley had become yet another father figure in Jack's life.
"You're not wearing formal clothes either." Jack shot back. "You call them monkey suits."
"He's right, you do and Crowley will give you just as much shit." Castiel laughed and Dean frowned at that statement but Castiel was right and he knew it.
"Everyone looks lovely," Dean said putting a hand behind his head and everyone laughed.
"I'm going to go help, Sam," Eileen announced heading toward the kitchen.
"We better go help too." Jody smiled looking at Donna. They had been so much happier after they got together, especially with the girls. Patience was doing school.
"Sorry, I'm late." A Scottish accent came from the front and Dean recognized it as Crowley. "Bloody Hell was literally having issues. Again."
"What kind of issues?" Dean frowned as Crowley entered the room. Crowley put some gifts below the tree, and Dean's breath caught in his throat. He was wearing a black suit, black shirt, and red tie. His black hair smoothed down. He looked stunning.
"Nothing to worry about, love," Crowley told Dean, pressing a cheek on his and Castiel's cheek as he stood next to them. Dean froze a bit, casting a glance at the others who didn't seem to mind. "Why aren't you wearing a suit?"
Jack laughed, and Dean shot him a glare.
"It's not formal," Dean complained and Jack snickered.
Crowley frowned. "It's a party."
"They're monkey suits." Dean protested and Crowley narrowed his eyes. "For me?"
"Fine."
"Good to see you, son," Rowenna said in an almost sickly sweet tone.
"What do you want, mother?" Crowley sighed.
"Please don't feud over something evil tonight." Dean sighed rubbing his temples.
"Evil? Us. No. We've changed." Rowenna smiled.
"Uh-huh yeah," Dean said rolling his eyes. "I've accepted it but please nothing world-ending major."
"We won't, promise. At least nothing world-ending." Crowley told him. Dean gave him a look. Sometimes it was hard being in a relationship with a demon. Crowley could be downright tricky. Crowley could be very kind though. He learned things about him like he still liked romance movies and pizza. He also sometimes missed being human. There were perks to being a demon but also being the king of hell put a target on his back.
About an hour later, Sam, Elieen, Jody, and Donna brought out dinner. There was ham, sweet potatoes, stuffing, brie cheese, and cranberry sauce. For dessert, multiple types of pie, including pumpkin and pecan. Dean's mouth was watering at the thought of pie. Crowley and Castiel sat down leaving a place in the middle for Dean, all the couple sat together. It shocked Dean when Bobby sat next to Rowenna. Dean took his seat. After he had dinner and pie though, he excused himself saying he had to use the bathroom.
Dean wandered the halls of the bunker. His hands in his jeans pockets, still wondering what to do for Christmas. Soon he found himself in the garage. He slid his hand down the metal of the 1967 black chevy impala that meant the world to him. There were other cars in the garage. A couple of motorbikes, and various tool stations for Dean, plus Bobby when he visited. Dean wandered over to the large garage door on the back side of the bunker. He pulled at the chain, and it was frozen or something again. He really needed to update it and make it electric, he could rope Charlie in on that one day. Charlie and her girlfriend had decided not to come to their Christmas party. They were going to take a romantic holiday in Paris instead. Charlie hadn't been hunting as much which made Dean happy.
Dean was trying to think of a gift still, he sat in the passenger seat of the impala then something clicked in his brain. He raced back to his room. He wrapped two small gifts in red and green Christmas paper; they were in small boxes for it wasn't obvious. He kept the wrapping paper in his room in case he found something for the two of them.
Dean made his way back out to the main area, happy with himself for once. People were either still at the table or in some armchairs, everyone had a drink in their hand. Crowley had gotten into his good bourbon, Rowena as well. He placed the gifts under the tree there were a lot of gifts. Some were big, others small like his.
"Where were you?" Castiel asked coming up behind him. "I thought we agreed on no gifts?"
"Did you and Crowley stick to that?" Dean raised an eyebrow.
Castiel was silent as Crowley came up next to them.
"Gifts? Us? Noooo." Crowley laughed.
"Let's open gifts," Sam announced.
"What? Now?" Dean said.
"Yes, Dean now." Sam laughed. Everyone pulled chairs up around the tree. Jack, Castiel, Crowley, and Dean.
Sam had gotten Eileen a sapphire necklace, with a delicate silver chain. Jack had gotten a gift card for a local restaurant for everyone. Dean suspected how he afforded it and if he also decided on credit card fraud. Donna got Jody a new pistol, with Donna's and her initials. Jody gave Donna a heart-shaped ruby necklace. Kaia and Claire gave each other the same thing. They got each other a Nintendo Switch gaming system for travel, they started laughing. Jody and Donna gave the girls all different gifts. Rowena gave Crowley some fine scotch, and he got her a gold bracelet. Rowena had given Bobby a rare lore book. Bobby had also given Sam a book on magic, telling him not to be an idjit with it. Bobby gave Dean an old ornate dagger with delicate designs on the blade. He explained it was pretty old and that he could add it to his collection. Dean was still questioning what was going on with Rowena and Bobby. It made his brain hurt to think about one possibility. Sam and Dean gave Bobby a book from the bunker he had always looked at.
Soon the last people to give gifts were Crowley, Dean, and Castiel.
"Fine, we did get you a gift," Castiel admitted. "Crowley and I collaborated."
"I figured as much." Dean laughed. Crowley handed dean a decent-sized bag with a Christmas tree on it. Dean opened it to find a medium-sized painting of the three of them and a small wooden carving of the Impala.
"Wow, thank you." Dean breathed.
"You're welcome." Crowley and Castiel answered together, then Dean hugged each of them. Castiel gave Crowley romance movies which made Crowley go into a fit of laughter. Crowley was blushing and denying the fact he watched them. Crowley's gift to Castiel was probably the sweetest thing he'd seen all night. There was a wooden figurine of an angel in a trench coat. It looked exactly like Castiel with magnificent black wings.
"Wow Crowley thank you. I love it." Castiel gave Crowley a hug and a peck on the cheek.
Now it was Dean's turn, he gulped. Dean grabbed the small boxes and handed one to Castiel and Crowley. They opened it, each had a key.
"It's a spare key to the impala. If you guys want, you can borrow it." Dean told them.
Castiel and Crowley's mouths were agape as they looked at the keys in their hand.
"Dean..." Castiel started but didn't finish and closed his mouth again.
"I... we..." Crowley stammered out.
"The impala... your baby." They said together.
"Say no more. I love the impala as much as I love and trust you two." Dean told them and then he heard collective awwing from the room and froze. Remembering that he said that in a room full of people, and felt his face heat up.
"Thank you." Castiel and Crowley told him and both attacked Dean with a hug, and gave him a kiss each on the cheek. He tried pushing away a bit, but they both didn't let him go of him and the others laughed.
“That was very sweet of you Dean,” Bobby told him, “I’m really glad you’re happy for once.”
“Thanks, Bobby,” Dean smiled.
This had turned out to be one of the best Christmases Dean had had in a long time. Everyone accepted his, Crowley, and Castiel’s relationship even if it was odd. An angel, demon, and hunter in a polycule. Dean couldn’t wish for anything better.
