Chapter Text
This was the absolute worst day of your life. Your S/O dumped you, your boss fired you, your car wouldn’t start, you dropped your phone and now it won’t work, and halfway home, it just started to pour rain on you, seemingly out of nowhere of all things. It definitely didn’t help that a car had splashed water all over you on your way back to your apartment.
“Great, now I can’t pay rent, I can’t drive anywhere and I can’t call for help. And now I’m SOAKED!!!” as you let out your little tantrum, you can’t help but notice something strange. Someone was walking through the rain, seemingly untouched by the water. They looked at you and smiled, giving a little wave.
You weren’t sure what is was about them, but you didn’t like them. But, so as not to be rude, you lift your hand and give a little wave back. They began to cross the street to you and you swore to whatever fucking God that was out there that the hair on the back of your neck stood on end. You didn’t like this, you didn’t want to talk to this person. You wanted to run away and never look back.
They stop in front of you. “Well, hello there.” You could see their unnaturally perfect features, the fact that they somehow still looked dry even in this heavy rain. “Are you feeling alright? You look like you’ve been through the wringer!” Their little gasp and form of concern did little to sway you.
“Umm… yeah. I just lost my other half, my job, car and phone, all within the same hour.” Your response was dryer than you were right now.
“You poor thing, oh, I have just the thing for you!” You watched as they reached into their pocket and handed you, a… piece of paper? You just kind of stare at it for a moment and looked over the text on it that read, ‘Freddy Fazbears Mega Pizza Plex’, returning your gaze back to them. “I work there as security. They pay really well so I’m positive you’ll be able to get back on your feet in no time flat.”
You slowly nod. Seriously, who the fuck just carries this kind of thing around and who the hell is this person. “Thanks. So uh… who are you?”
“Oh, my apologies, my name is Yn.”
“Wait, as in “Self-insert” Yn?”
They blush and looks away timidly. With a slow nod, they looks at you. “Do I get to know yours?”
No. No, no, no. This was not happening right now. Who in the absolute Hell is so perfect like this at all times? Who tries to make friends like this immediately, like they expect you to bond with them the instant they see you?! This wasn’t right. This was definitely not right.
You give them your name and watch them smile, immediately hugging you. You tense. You didn’t like surprise physical contact, and you especially didn’t want this person touching you. “Hey, uh… Yn…” They looked at you. “Could you maybe… hold off on the touching? I’m not a fan of… physical contact…”
Their surprised expression was interesting, as if no one had ever told them that they didn’t want to be touched. Their faced darkened only for a moment, but it was like they immediately bounced back to a seemingly perfect person. “Oh… that’s alright, I’m sure you’ll get used to it.”
You look at them and feel some panic rise in you. You’re soaked to the core and cold, and this person doesn’t look even the slightest bit damp. They just fucking hugged you and they aren’t wet, or cold, or anything. You had to get out of here. You had to leave. Something wasn’t right here and you wanted none of this ‘self-inserts’ bullshit.
“Heh… uh, no. Look, it was… NICE… talking with you and all, but I’ve got to go uh… dry off.” You start backing away. “Maybe a hot shower to while I’m at it.”
With a smile and a wave from Yn, you turn and bolt the hell out of there, trying not to slip on some of the puddles.
Home had never been so comforting before. Never in your dreams have you ever enjoyed a hot shower or clean bedsheets as much as you did right now. You almost forgot about the hellscape that was ‘self-insert’, Yn, whatever their name was. God that was weird.
You sit at your computer and pull up your car insurance bill, inwardly cringing at the cost. Did you even have enough money for that? You check your back account.
Barely. “God I need money.”
You glance over at the flier on the table and cringe. Of all the places to work, Fazbears wasn’t what you ever would have considered. They were so exclusive about who they chose to have work there, you knew you had no chance.
You pull up their website and begin searching for the easiest sounding job there was. You found a position that called for a handler for an animatronic. You read the description and smirk. Sounds easy enough. Heh, maybe Yn can work their ‘main character magic’ and you’ll get the job immediately. Doubtful, considering how many people would kill to have a job like that. And $40 an hour was most definitely not something to scoff at. “Wait, free staff housing at the Plex to, for a 20/7 handler?”
You fill out an application and hit send immediately, only to stop and ask yourself “Wait, why would they need a handler around all the time? Why the free housing and why such a high pay?” For a moment, you can’t help but wonder. “Yeah, like I’m even going to get the job in the first pla-”
Your computer chimes, an indicator that you just received an Email. You look and your heart just drops.
“You’ve got the job, no interview needed. Come by in the morning for your uniform and a tour of the building. You will be receiving free training so you can repair the animatronic yourself. If you have any questions, please contact customer support.”
What did you just get yourself into?
