“Growing up with a sibling can be *ahem* frustrating, but for better or worse, siblings influence each other as we grow up.”
“In our timeline, Chloé and Zoé grew up as single children in different countries and didn’t meet until they were teenagers, but here, Audrey sent Zoé to Paris, not long after she left André and Chloé…”
It wasn’t fair! Chloé thought. First, her mommy left, and now she had sent a sister she didn’t know or want!
“Chloé, princess, please come down!” Her father shouted.
Chloé sulked but obeyed.
When she entered the lobby, she saw her father with a girl a little younger than her.
“Zoé, this is your big sister Chloé.”
Chloé was about to say something insulting, but stopped as she got a good look at the scared, wide-eyed girl who’d been taken to a foreign country to live with strangers.
It occurred to her for the first time that Zoé had been abandoned by Mommy, too.
“Hi,” she said instead.
“H…Hello,” Zoé said nervously.
Chloé began to have feelings she had never experienced before. Excitement that she would have someone new to play with, nervous that she wouldn't like her, protective of this new sister.
Chloé hugged Zoé, who, after a moment of surprise, returned the hug.
