Lostbelts Through Two Different Point of Views

Summary:

Honestly Yu tries his best to not offend any Servants that Fujimaru has summoned. But two divine spirits servant that come from dead-end worlds have selfish view for humanity which makes him remember those divine beings whom he fought in his world.

The grey-haired servant who come from a world where God and Goddess always try to screw with humanity doesn't agree with it, especially when those two begin to bring a word with weight called [sacrifice].

Notes:

All SMT games always viewing absolute power like divine beings and elemental kinds on extreme side, mostly with negative implications (Law route with absolute obedience, mean no freedom. While Chaos means human will end up fighting non-human creatures till the end of time).

Cosmos in the Losbelt part of FGO so far bringing ethics more when dealing with these outcomes.

Persona plot I think personally (pun not intended) is Neutral route of SMT, so yeah... anti-thesis of those Lostbelt Kings is from this game. Also, at first I want to bring more Lostbelt Kings but eh, those two are more align with Persona worlds.

Anyway, Persona 4 and Fate Grand Order aren't mine

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Yu permanently joins up Chaldea, well according to those who understand magecraft it’s more correct his true copy of himself, still he remembers being alive very well and everyone who has living human as their trait too. Okay, enough about his existence as servant which will make a fuel for existential dread because there’s more pressing matter.

The old Chaldea he knows for a short time? Currently destroyed or falls to enemy is the better term. During that siege, he doesn’t experience anything since his materialized body is gone too. Later when they regain a new base named Novum Chaldea, he finally realizes that Ritsuka’s servant roster is getting bigger and some are interesting too.

Mainly those from so called civilizations with unwanted outcome. Something akin to bad end side of history that manages to keep existing until modern times which by Chaldea is given a designated name as Lostbelt. Those servants who is currently in contract with said black-haired master are interesting bunch. Some standard human and exist in this world, some are still “normal” human but with their lostbelt appearance. Oh, also divine spirit servants too.

Especially divine spirit servants. They are bunch of eye-catching people (are divine spirit servants can be called people though?) with interesting personalities. Too bad, dealing with many gods and goddesses in his journey back at his world is making the grey-haired servant in saber class act neutral around them. Unlike some human-normal servants who kind of either hate them or happy to see their deities up close. Can’t be help that his personas mostly based on those deity from various mythology, too.

Now he wishes Margaret can be summoned by Ritsuka just for talk about those so-called gods and goddesses in his world. What’s the deal with them always screwing with humanity? Why can’t his world follow this world’s rule at to not messing too much with modern humanity anymore?

Since he stands all alone right next to the entrance of cafeteria while wondering about humanity and deities’ relationships, he is getting noticed by Ritsuka himself and few more eyes from those servants who based on their Lostbelt counterpart. The black-haired master of Chaldea then waves his right hand to tell him to join them. Since Ritsuka asks him, why not join in? Despite the circumstances around those so-called Lostbelt Kings are not his liking, that doesn’t mean he can’t get curious with them, all right? Especially the fuse Scáthach-Skadi, a goddess-teacher-warrior fusion.

First impression as he reached where Ritsuka is standing is, he is becoming a center of two lostbelt servants who are deities in their respective regions. Second is, they’re quite unique according to Yu personally.

“So, this young human is able on par with divine beings on his world?” Skadi’s voice is still the same as Scáthach, except there’s some kind of amusement in it. Which reminds Yu of Izanami, the skeleton or known as Izanami-no-Okami, the half of Marie.

Yu the ever polite one merely bows a bit while saying it’s nice to meet her in here. His gesture is making Scáthach-Skadi to rise her right eyebrow.

“Interesting, a human kid who is calm in meeting me. Just like you, O’ Last Master of Humanity.” Despite like that, her stare is giving unconvincing one when she is fully paying attention to said Saber class.

“Yet you have familiarity aura, have we met? No, if we met somewhere, I remember clearly.” The Goddess of Winter from Norse mythology is then smirking in amusement, “a normal human who banished a goddess… either she is that weak or you’re a lucky one.”

Yu’s lips thin out, he disagrees with lucky part. Is seeing your friends die in front of you and getting trapped in endless loop are lucky? He doesn’t know the answer but everyone who is taking part of his journey are sacrificing so many things. The grey-haired high schooler then put his right hand on same part of pants pocket.

He takes a deep breath while shifting his stiff standing position to appear more nonchalant, “clearly my journey is a tumultuous one compared to others around my age. Well, Master’s life too but you have different kind of fate compared to mine, Fujimaru-kun.”

Paused for a bit to swift his attention to a black-haired youth, then both Yu’s field of vision are fully paying attention to the purple-colored divine servant. “Izanami is not weak, in fact she broke me. Although turns out she is a goddess who sided with humanity despite ends up with skewed point of views because her long lifespan. But in the end, she understands there’s a time to let go what’s supposedly to leave it alone.”

Said what’s supposedly to leave it alone he talks about is humanity in the end of their confrontation, she respects it.

His explaining unfortunately riles up two divine servants, forget to mention there’s two servants with divinity who are conversing with Ritsuka Fujimaru. One named Scáthach-Skadi, the other is Arjuna Alter who absorbs every Indian pantheon in his lostbelt even though the later keeps silent. Those two are giving Yu disagreeing stares.

Too bad Yu Narukami is already immune with sharp stare or evil looks, even terrifying gaze from inhuman folks. Scratch that, he is immune anything outside human comprehension interaction after his journey so far. He let out a tired sigh, another bunch of deities who only thinks the best by their standard toward humans which means, he makes enemies? No, angry deities on his tail once again.

“How dare you say something like that, Child of Man of Proper Human History.” Scáthach-Skadi is as graceful as ever despite she let out an outburst like that, but it still the same like Izanami-no, Mikuratana-no-Kami in term of viewing humanity as a whole. Now that Yu remembers it, if said deity manages to rope humanity with her forced bonds, perhaps in his world will turns like Lostbelt too. The key is, forcing fate of humanity for a fate worse than death, which is existing in a “dead end” world.

Yu’s steel-grey eyes were looking at those two with such conviction, “it’s the truth, your Lostbelt could never replace human history, nor your kindness could bring lives into prosperity. Your true duty in fact is bringing all Norse Pantheons to your place of exist after Ragnarok, yet you agree to accept Alien God and her crypter’s dealing to keep your tormented humans exists…”

Ritsuka who begins to foresee an upcoming hostility finally speaks up, “I think she doesn’t have a choice, Yu-san. The one who causes that dead branch of timeline to surge in correct timeline is that Alien God… I-I’m sure if bleaching and Fantasy Trees aren’t existed, they won’t end up fighting for existence.”

“Humans of Pan Human History, only knows filth… yet speaking like understands what our humans has been sacrificed isn’t worthy.” Soft tone from Arjuna Alter cuts both their master and Yu’s talk.

Yet what said Lostbelt King’s opinion is almost making Yu angry, keyword is, almost.

With such a calm despite there’s an edge on it, the grey-haired is deflecting Arjuna Alter’s argument.

“Sacrifice… what a selfish opinion. Is it called sacrifice if it’s against their will? In this timeline, what you guys doing are either slavery or dictatorship. Because humanity as far as I know build on those sacrifices and we… as humans are honoring those who has sacrifice for us.” He takes a deep breath, “even in my world, what we do to keep going is so much more than all of you. I know someone with so-little things to consider something worthy from our world and even the fate takes everything from him is still managed to do an extraordinary feat. That feat is… protecting everyone with his soul as the cost, even me as fellow wild card from the end of humanity as the whole. Yet, you guys still belittle Pan Human History?”

Whenever talking about sacrifice, he will always remember a blue-haired fellow wild card who is older than him.

Those two divine spirits are beginning to show clearer displeasure with Yu’s stance on Lostbelts.

Meanwhile, a certain Alter Ego servant with gothic fashion is passing by, she doesn’t even have any intention to go inside the cafeteria. Yet, seeing a grey-haired servant who she knows is being scrutinized by two divine spirit servants while Ritsuka looks troubled to keep everything cool, Marie-the identity of this Alter Ego servant decides to interfere.

“Yu, what are you doing with those tacky Lostbelt Kings?” Four people’s eyes are moving to see Marie spoken up out of nowhere.

Yu turns around to face Marie with intention to answer her question, “tacky- uh we’re talking here, Marie.”

Yet Marie isn’t convinced, she proceeds to not care about Yu since he’s just that good to not making a big deal of something. Too calm his close friends said, but it’s more correct to categorize him as a weirdo.

“Talking with divine spirits that end up they’re ganging up on you? Oh, you Winter and Sinless Freak. Guess this human speaks some truth to you and both of you couldn't accept it, huh?” She nonchalantly fixes her hat.

Ritsuka and Yu are actually shocked at her words.

“Marie-“

Quickly the goddess shuts down Yu’s interference, “shut it Stupidjerk. Both of you act of mercy won’t give happiness to humanity, oh right you guys aren’t care about humanity happiness. Or should I correct it to, the good of humanity? You guys are nothing but bunch of selfish.” She then pulls the grey-haired servant both to save him from the wrath of divine servants, despite said Japanese goddess could toe-to-toe with them and destroyed Novum Chaldea is a no-no too. Can't be help that their existence annoys her because how wrong they are. In fact, all of those divine spirit of Lostbelt Servants are mocking their proper history existence counterparts who are praised as benevolence and in more positive side.

When they’re away from those three, Marie is letting go Yu’s hand. She then pouting while both her hands are on hips. She then rolls her eyes at her friend who secretly harbored her romantic feelings for.

“Master recently summons them and you’re almost pissing them off. Is three- no five deities rope you into problem because you piss them off not enough for you, idiotjerk?”

This time Yu isn’t as on edge as before decides to dodge Marie’s accusation, “I don’t think I piss them off. More like they decide to show up when I’m there. Well, Kunino Sagiri and Ameno Sagiri are intentionally causing trouble though. As for Izanami-no-Okami’s case is… she is curious with humanity and has twisted sense of actualizing everyone happiness.”

But Marie is looking more unimpressed with her grey-haired friend, “I know about that, she is me, okay? That’s not it, you’re too blunt sometimes. It will lead you into trouble, Yu!”

Yet her outburst about his bluntness is making him smile instead, “people, ah no- everyone only wants to hear or see what they want, even if there’s truth in front of them.” He shows a melancholic expression, “I just think… those Lostbelt Kings are the most selfish people or divine beings I ever meet.”

He wants to say, those deities are controlling human thus making their civilizations shouldn’t existed. They merely hurting those people who shouldn’t be alive, creating a wrong history and hurting Ritsuka at the same time. He manages to see those emotional and conscience baggage are starting to pile into his master’s mental health.

What a selfish law this world is, no the more he thinks about it, so far divine beings he encounters in his journey are like that.

But, speaking about it toward an underworld goddess who has tragic past and not good about humanity in general is something awkward to speak to about it. Izanami is the one who curses humanity with death, after all.

On the other side of grey-haired Wild Card, Marie who has been listening knows his way of thinking, maybe she acts like how a great goddess of Shintoism shouldn’t do but she understands what Yu is trying to tell. After all, her true identity is the mother of Japanese deities so there’s still what you call as wisdom, “they’re too controlling, like her when we separate ourselves.”

The grey-haired servant with the Fool arcana’s lips is thinning, “1000 dies while 1500 born to replace.”

Marie is nodding her head, but her face is still passive. With their silence amongst them, Yu then breaks it with his sorry.

“No, it’s okay. Actually, after thousand years or more I live, I already accepting and understand the circumstance. If both of us are selfish, humans will suffer-no nature will suffer as consequence.”

She continues to ramble since Yu decides to keep his mouth shut, “also I like my current role better, a Goddess who protect a small town for her beloved humans sounds more fun than Goddess of Underworld, right Yu?”

Yu is blinking with Marie’s declaration, but then he let out a chuckle, “yeah. Oh right, I forgot to say, thank you for protecting everyone in Inaba during Hi-no-Kagutsuchi crisis, Marie.”

Her face quickly reddening out of embarrassment also mixed with ecstatic to be praised by her secretly liked human, Marie instinctively punches Yu’s upper hand while throwing her classic insults at him. The one who receives half-hearted consecutive punches is letting out a tired sigh, after all he already used to the goddess antics like this.

Notes:

Finally, I address the elephant in the room aka Lostbelts dilemma. Unlike in Alia Realta when I tackle more Ritsuka's personal turmoil, this one about Pan Human History vs Pruned Timelines.

(... huh if Izanagi and Izanami never utter that vow, perhaps it will be a new Lostbelt haha)

Oh right, this one is what I want to write to commemorate 80 kudos on my main story of Yu Narukami Adventure series. At last, more serious one out of all beside the main one haha
