Chapter Text
It was another day like any other on the Watchtower. Meetings being held and zeta tubes being activated in a near constant stream of noise.
Usually when Clark needed a break from the constant stream of noise that was earth, he would go to the Watchtower. Unfortunately it was one of those days where luck was not on his side. Instead of an escape from an oncoming headache from sensory overload, he was roped into meeting with the new recruits to the Justice League.
So when Superman had finished supervising the now mandatory introduction meeting, he decided to take a small flight in space. Just to the moon and back, nothing too big, just a casual soar through space.
He waved to J’ohn as he walked over to the airlock, the one near the zeta tubes used for people who could go into space without needinga bulky space suit.
“Hello Superman.” J’hon greets with an amused tone.
“Hey to you too! Just going out for a quick flight, I’ll be back in a few hours.”
Martian Manhunter chuckled “I see, if that is the case then I shall check in with you in three hours if you have not returned.”
Clark looked over his shoulder to his friend and waved goodbye, then prepared the airlock to be opened.
~~time skip~~
It had been a while since Clark had the time to fly out in space, just to enjoy the void of stars and the view of Earth. It was beautiful, but nowadays it felt like every week some new disaster required the Justice League’s help.
It was tiring, not that he didn’t want to be a hero and help people! But it was getting too difficult keeping track of all the new members that seemed to be joining, and all the enemy’s that seemed to follow.
Superman thought he would never see the day the Justice League transform from a rag tag group of seven to now over 40 active members. That’s not even including the teams of younger hero’s and the JL Dark. He didn’t want to even think about the amount of villains they have faced.
It was almost too much to keep up with, but as a journalist, he liked to be kept up to date. To the rest of the world Clark Kent was just your average journalist with a habit of disappearing. He had become a part time backup writer and editor for the Daily Planet instead of a full time journalist. As with his often disappearances into space were not good for business.
Superman however was friends with the world's greatest detective, who knew everything important about everyone. It was just a matter of getting him to actually talk or share the information was the problem. Speaking of journalists, he should plan a date for him and Lois. It's been too long since he’s had some quality time with his wife since Jon was born.
As Clark made it to the moon he stopped to find a place to sit on its dusty surface. He looked back at the Earth, contemplating the future of the Justice League. He liked coming to the moon to sit and think, it was quiet.
“—- then to solve for x —- no you don’t subtract that you —-“
It usually was quiet, anyways. He focused on trying to find where the speaker was coming from.
“But that doesn’t——- oh now your just pulling my leg!” (Tail- oh ha ha very funny mister)
“We’ll maybe if you spent more time —- instead of —- doomed, then maybe it would make more sense.”
“Oh low blow Jazz, not all of us spend all our time with our noses in a textbook!”
Superman found the source of the noise, and was throughly concerned. In front of him was what almost looked like a spaceship.
There were two children inside the strange spacecraft. He could clearly see both of them from the giant window in what he assumes is the front of the vehicle.
By the seat near what looked to be the steering wheel, is a girl with long red hair and teal eyes. Her hair is pulled back by a blue headband. She’s holding up a rather thick book with various numbers and equations written on it.
Next to her however, was a kid that had a striking resemblance to Nightwing when he was Robin. He had the same hair and complexion as the former Robin, but the eyes held more green than Nightwings have.
Both were too busy arguing to notice the colorful hero floating closer to the strange vessel.
That was until the robin lookalike looked up in frustration, then surprise as his eyes landed on him.
As Clark locked eyes with the boy, he couldn’t help but wonder, what were these two kids doing on the moon?
