Work Text:

Astrid’s chest is closing in, and she doesn’t know what’s happening.

“Uh, Hiccup?” she calls, and he pokes his head around the doorframe. “Hm?”

She draws a deep breath in, forces it out again, and says, “I think something’s– something’s wrong.” This time he approaches her, placing a calloused hand on her arm. “Are you– are you okay?”

“M–maybe,” Astrid stutters, noticing it’s getting harder and harder to breathe, and Hiccup calmly pulls her hand from her chest to his. “Here. Feel my breathing, and try to match it.”

“Okay.”

And she does.

It takes a little while, but eventually, she feels normal again.
