Amanda always knew Lotte was one of her more reserved friends, much rather taking the safer side of things than Amanda’s reckless “do whatever” attitude. So it wasn’t much of a surprise to her when the two started dating and Amanda discovered Lotte was pretty shy when it came to physical affection. Taking their relationship sluggishly slow while already getting red ears at holding hands or even pecking each other on the cheek.
But even if it bothered Amanda a little she would give Lotte her space, waiting for once as patient as she could be. And it was not like there wasn’t a lot more she could enjoy about Lotte than just touch. And if she felt like it Amanda would do the occasional tease just to watch Lotte turn adorably beet red.
Speaking of red, Christmas had come to Luna Nova. Mostly thanks to Akko and her ever pertain insistence and stubbornness. Not that Amanda minded, there’s nothing wrong in having a party in her eyes. And the sweets are just another bonus.
They also made Amanda forget about the itchy Christmas sweaters Akko made for everyone, almost.
Drinking some eggnog Amanda was completely unaware of what was going on as Lotte suddenly popped in next to her. “Hello Amanda.”
“Yo!” She put her eggnog on a nearby table before giving Lotte a peck on the cheek, the latter already developing a small blush. And not from the warmth of her itchy sweater. “Great to see you could make it Lotte.”
“Well, I wouldn’t ever miss any Christmas celebration.” Lotte smiled. “Especially such a special one.”
“Special one? How come?” Wondered Amanda, taking a moment before quickly adding more words. “Beyond that it’s our first one together! I totally didn’t forget that eheh…” She awkwardly chuckled.
“Partly,” Lotte giggled. “but also because I have something special for you in mind. A present if you will.”
Amanda’s awkwardness slid away, soon replaced with eager curiosity. “A present? Aren’t we supposed to do those later? You know how Akko gets over her schedule being interrupted.”
“I’m sure she won’t mind, there is a good reason it’s special after all.”
Amanda widened her eyes in amusement. “Well well well Lotte, got a bit mischievous today huh? You sure you don’t want to potentially ruin your good girl streak?”
Lotte narrowed her eyes with a smile. “Says you?”
“What’s that supposed to mean? Why I have been nothing but good my entire life!” Standing up straight Amanda would fish out her wand, making it glow until a shining golden halo rested above her head. “Oh Lotte, if only you took more of me as an example.”
“Wherever did my life go wrong.” Lotte sarcastically commented, almost rolling her eyes at Amanda. “Jokes aside shall we get going? It might get a bit…discouraged if we take any longer.”
Amanda dropped her smile. “Discouraged? Did you get me some kind of pet?”
“Not really, j-just come with me!” Lotte had to grab Amanda’s magic halo to drag her along. The ring eventually waved away as Amanda followed on her own accord. When they stood in the doorway Lotte stopped, turning to Amanda with a determined smile and her face incredibly red.
“Woah Lotte. You ok? You look like you’re burning up.” As Amanda was about to place her hand on Lotte’s forehead a certain brunette’s voice rang through the chatter of the party.
“Ah! Ah! Ah! Look what you two got under!” Exclaimed Akko, her fake reindeer ears bouncing along as she approached the duo with glee…now that Amanda took a closer look those ears looked awfully real. But whether Akko got them deliberately was the real question.
“Huh?” As Amanda looked up she missed Lotte getting redder, her eyes focused on the mistletoe above them.
“Oh wow, really huh.” Amanda looked back at Akko. “Look Akko this is nice and all but you of all people should know Lotte isn’t into this kinda stuff yet.”
Instead of insisting however Akko crossed her arms. “Is she?” Sending a wink in Lotte’s direction.
Amanda had only just looked to Lotte when the latter embraced her, and not just an embrace but also a full kiss on the lips.
Lotte’s hands would trail up to Amanda’s cheeks, gently holding them as she continued to kiss Amanda. Her eyes completely shut. While Amanda had hers wide open, eventually though she slowly closed them. Beginning to kiss back as her hands would embrace Lotte back, trailing to her back and keeping each other close.
Eventually however Lotte slowly pulled away, a big breath taken in with how long they were kissing for first timers. The both of them soon opened their eyes at the same time.
“Merry Christmas Amanda.” Lotte said, showing her pearly white teeth as she sent a wide smile. Her tomato-red face having slightly gone back to normal.
Amanda smiled back. “Thanks Lotte, I couldn’t ask for anything better.” Some of Lotte’s red seemed to have jumped over to her.
“Hey, we haven’t even opened any presents yet!” Akko interjected. “You can’t just decide already, it’s only starting!” The two would watch as she scurried off, shouting them to come along.
Lotte giggled again. “I guess we should join her.”
“Yeah,” Chuckled Amanda. “Mind if I give you my first present now?”
Turning back to each other Lotte would nod. “Of course, though I might know what it is.”
Lotte didn’t need to wait long for her words to be confirmed true as she and Amanda started another kiss. The lights of Christmas illuminating them as they couldn’t be happier for the wonderful girlfriend they got in the wonderful year.
And now, they would finally enter a new stage of love.
