Work Text:
…What did Amanda just say?
It was a normal day at Luna Nova, or at least - as normal as a day there could be with the types of Amanda O’Neill seemingly always following Diana alongside whatever shenanigans she was up to now.
Not that Diana necessarily minded, she had gotten pleasantly used to having Amanda hang around. Even if half of the time she made Diana wonder why she tolerated her presence in the first place.
Well…that was not something Diana was going to admit, not even to her thoughts.
Not like Amanda. Who used that bothersome nickname to get Diana’s attention by dropping such a bomb as a love confession?
Diana still wasn’t believing what she just heard.
“Hey Diana, did you hear me?” Amanda droned on.
Slowly Diana put down her quill, what she was writing soon forgotten. Turning to Amanda with an analytical stare. “I did, though I can’t help but be confounded why you insist you “think” you’re in love with me.”
A tint of a blush appeared on Amanda’s face. “Yeah, I guess it’s a bit unnecessary. Guess I was just nervous.”
“And you still are?” Diana questioned, her gaze relaxing.
“Nah.”
Diana couldn’t help but almost close her eyes. “No? You are that confident?”
Now it was Amanda’s turn to throw Diana off as that devious smile of hers appeared on her face. “Come on Diana, I’m not that blind you know? I notice things.”
“Like what?” Diana said quite defensively, holding back the warmth that was heading up to her head.
“Like how you never try to get me away when I’m close or even leave.”
“That…wouldn’t be polite. You aren’t that annoying after all.” Diana would look away.
Amanda smiled wider. “How you seem to always try to find me first. I mean heck we're so much together some thought we already were a thing.”
“Mere coincidence!”
Finally Amanda leaned in, the two’s lips awfully close now. “And last but not least, that look in your eyes - one that’s so full of care and- well love that I can’t help but fall harder than I did previously!”
By now both were blushing.
“Look, I can go on and on, whether it’s from your side or me. But I’d rather make it official and see how it really goes.” Amanda fake coughed. “So! Once again cabbage. I love you…and would you maybe want to go on a date with me if you share these feelings?”
Diana looked at the bashful Amanda, having to admit that what she said was true. And yet she had to admit she too was nervous, yet perhaps that nervousness was now conquered thanks to Amanda’s confidence. Even if it was seemingly faltering by now.
Not to worry, as Diana decided to put an end to the charade as a small smile formed on her face.
“I’d love to Amanda.”
