Chapter Text

"Are you gonna keep on zoning out or were you listening?" your best friend asked, snapping you out of your trance.

"Yeah uhm sorry Jinnie-" you answered

"Anyways, Haerin and I are gonna join the boys' outing, are you coming with?" Ryujin repeated

"Oh I don't know, I'll see my schedule first"

"Aww come on Y/N, it's literally on the weekend, plus, it'll just be us. Beomgyu, Jungwon and all"

"How come they never told me-"

"Maybe they did. But you didn't focus hm? Kidding-" she said as you slapped her arm "It's at the beach too!!!"

"Yeah yeah I'll try to make time I guess"

It was the last week of university before winter break. Safe to say you didn't really have much planned, not when your parents didn't even care about your whereabouts. Your parents hadn't been the most attentive or loving but they provided you with enough money, enough to get by the next few years anyway. And your brother, well, he was in a boarding school and always went to foreign countries during the holidays so you never really had many memories with him (You both have been trying to fix the relationship though).

You were more than happy when you got to leave home and go to college with your best friends; Ryujin and Jungwon. They had been your friends since forever.

Ryujin was the kid who had asked you to play together during kindergarten and the both of you have been inseparable after that day. Now she complains about lecturers nonstop and makes you go on blind dates against your will.

Jungwon, on the other hand, was your neighbour. When your parents left for weekly work trips, they asked the neighbours to look after you. With a kind-hearted mother like Jungwon's, she didn't hesitate to let you into their home. You would go home with Jungwon, eat dinner at his house, do some homework, and sleep the night in. As a kid, it felt like a neverending sleepover and you loved it. The rest was history, now you consider the Yangs to be your family, much more than your own.

Somewhere along the way, Ryujin and Jungwon's lives started intertwining through you, and that's when the three of you became musketeers. It was nice that all three of you managed to get into the same college.

The friend group grew, Haerin and Beomgyu came along and now you call yourselves the teen titans.

Ryujin was the sassy badass one, the one who'd tease you 24/7 but stand up for you when you can't. She was your anchor too, despite all her teasing, she's very trustworthy.

Jungwon was the soft and chill one. He mostly just vibes with the group but is (surprisingly) the most leader-y (he scolds you all the time when you didn't add another layer of blanket during the winter as kids).

Haerin was the quietest of all, but also one to make the group laughs. She doesn't make jokes per se, she's the type of person to just be naturally funny you know?

Lastly, Beomgyu, he's the sunshine of the group. He's always the one to make jokes and annoy the hell out of everyone (even though you all thought it was cute, you won't admit it to him). He gets very childish sometimes but that's why you love him, he reminds you of such innocence.

Anyways, if you had asked them what they'd describe you as in the friend group, definitely the emotionally unstable one. The one with unresolved anger issues, who always has her mind elsewhere a.k.a you zone out even more than Haerin. But each of them confided in you and that's all that mattered.

Back to the present, you wondered if 'the boys' Ryujin mentioned were only gonna be Jungwon and Beomgyu. I mean would it be called the boys' outing if there were more girls than boys? You couldn't possibly think of any other guys on the campus that they'd hang out with, maybe Sunoo? You've heard Jungwon talk about him occasionally. Or is it Soobin? The soft giant who takes literature, the guy Beomgyu is very fond of. Or could it be Heeseung? The campus crush who Jungwon had somehow befriended. You were too busy tuning your thoughts that you didn't realise you were about to bump into a telephone pole. Thankfully someone had grabbed your shoulders before you could hit it.

"Wow, chill out there, stay focused," the guy said, as you flinched at the touch.

"oh- right- thanks-" you answered embarrassedly, as you turned around to apologize to him.

You were greeted by a pair of soft brown eyes, looking at you with worry. He looked stunning honestly, with his sharp god-like features—you hadn't realised you were staring.

"I know I look good but are you gonna keep on staring or what," he said as he finally let go of your shoulders. You cleared your throat and looked everywhere but his eye contact.

"Uhm- aha- yeah- uh- I guess I'll get going now- sorry again- and uh thanks- bye!" you say as you hurriedly tried to walk sideways and wave at the stranger.

You turned around to walk back to your dorm, with your head down. But were greeted by another pair of arms grabbing you by the shoulder from in front of you. You shrieked. Until you looked up.

"Boo" turns out it was beomgyu.

"Damn it Gyu, don't scare me like that!"

"So cranky today huh, what got you so tensed up Y/N-? Oh! Taehyun hi!!!" he said as he waved to this 'Taehyun' behind you, so of course, you looked back.

To your horror, it was the same stranger that had saved you from making a fool of yourself. You've never wanted to vanish so much before. Taehyun gave Beomgyu a nod and walked over to where you and beomgyu were standing.

"So she's the one you kept on talking about huh," he said as he glanced at you

"You talk about me???" even though you wanted to bury yourself 6 ft under the ground, you still had the sass

"It's not anything bad ok I promise- listen- Tyun tell her-" Beomgyu said as you gave him a raised eyebrow.

"Oh yeah, well, besides telling us that you zone out a lot yeah" he gave you the biggest smile. And you gave Beomgyu the sharpest glare. but before Beomgyu could respond

"To think I witnessed it first-hand today-" Taehyun blurted out, almost letting out a chuckle.

You've never wanted to hit a stranger so badly. You raised your hand to your forehead and looked down.

"You saw her??? Please tell me about it- OW THAT HURTS" Beomgyu screamed as you slapped his arm, giving him the sweetest most innocent smile while you were at it.

Taehyun watched in amusement at the sight.

"I'll gladly pull out of the conversation here, bye Gyu!" you started "and you too...I guess" you glanced at both of them and waved, before finally turning around, and heading back to your dorm.

"Bye Y/N!!! Stay focused on the road babes!!" Beomgyu shouted and Taehyun laughed. Both of them started walking to the cafeteria as they see you retreat to your dorm.

"She's funnier than I'd thought," Taehyun told Beomgyu

"Ah, you like her don't you?" Beomgyu responded

"What do you mean-"

"First of all, you don't talk to girls, let alone be this outwards towards her."

"Maybe you just haven't seen me talk with enough girls then-"

"Says the guy who spends 24/7 watching net geo uhuh. AND! and. When I introduced you to Ryujin and Haerin you weren't this smiley-"

"Maybe it's because I've heard so much of Ryujin from you??? And because Jungwon talks about Haerin all the time..??? I practically knew them before I met them"

"Doesn't explain anything eh" Beomgyu quirked his eyebrow

"Ugh but, uh wait- so if- if you and Ryujin are together, and Jungwon and Haerin have the heart eyes for each other- Y/N's just alone....?"

"Funny that you've noticed, but yeah, pretty much. Which is why you're perfect for her!" Beomgyu grinned

"Literally just met her today. That's impossible Gyu."

"Love at first sight is a thing you know," Beomgyu said as he munched on a burger. Taehyun could only sigh.
