Summary
Beatrix snorted, making her way to the desk, standing behind Sam, one of her hands resting against his back - her manicured nails tapping against his spine.
“What do you want?” Sam grumbled, glaring at her. Beatrix removed her hand and he caught a glimpse of surprise in her eyes. Surprise that he wasn’t falling for her tricks, or maybe surprised that he was being so rude.
“Fine.” Beatrix muttered, “I need your help.” She looked at him, eyebrows furrowed as she pouted, almost childishly.
“Why? We’ve never even talked before. How am I the best person to help you?”
The question rang through the air for a long moment as the two of them stared at each other, almost daring the other to speak first.
“Because,” Beatrix said and Sam looked at her with a sharp expression. “Because you’re the only one who isn’t treating me like I’m some fragile, innocent little thing to protect.”
