Work Text:
Having a day off work after school is boring as hell. This was surprisingly Mint’s thoughts. She did not have any dance practice, for once didn’t feel like dancing, and thus she had nothing to look forward at the end of the day.
There was still a little bit of time before the butler in charge of giving a ride home would come. Normally he would be right on time, but that morning there was a family emergency and would come late.
“Or so he says,” muttered the young lady. “Making me wait like that.”
One by one, each student has left the school to go home or go to extracurricular activities. She was almost alone, but there was quite a bit of commotion at the entrance. Wanting to know who was up to no good this time, she decided to come upfront.
Not a sight she got to see everyday, that was for sure.
“Afternoon.”
If she was in a drama movie, Mint would faint on the spot, but this was reality. She almost pinched herself to see if she was dreaming instead, but all ladies should contain any kind of excitement in a public area… is what you want her to do. She quickly came closer to her idol.
“Wait, what are you doing in front of my school!?”
“Thought of taking you on a stroll,” Zakuro answered silently to not make any more of a mess of an entrance. “You should check your phone more often.”
“I will let you know I always check my phone whenever you text me- oh it’s dead,” she realized upon checking her own phone. “I guess the charger is dead.”
“I’ll buy you one on the way home. A warning, we’ll be walking.”
“Don’t you have any work after school?”
“Not today. Come on, let’s go.”
Zakuro really did not mind the people flocking around them, but she just wanted to spend time with Mint, and that was obvious for the little bird.
Anything for you, Zakuro-neesama!
Mint is regretting the walking stroll really quick. It’s not that she’s not used to walk, but from her school to the shopping district, it was a long walk. If it was for her, she would pop her wings like Ichigo would pop her cat ears and fly there, but that would mean leaving Zakuro on her own. Thus, she takes the pain with a big smile, because as long as Zakuro was next to her, she could take anything and everything. She was just happy, spending time with Zakuro, even if there wasn’t much of conversation. Mint was happy to ramble about things to her and fill the silence, and she knew Zakuro wouldn’t mind listening.
“Oh, there a bubble tea shop over there, let me grab one.” Thirsty, Zakuro stopped by a shop. She came back with one bubble tea.
It sure picked Mint’s interest. “Bopple… tea?”
“ Bubble tea. Milk tea with tapioca,” Zakuro answered after a sip.
Mint froze. Who is the madman or the madlady who created this? She knew it was a trend lately to the commoners, but Zakuro? Drinking this? No freaking way! No tea shall be disrespected by that sort and even Akasaka-san would be disappointed-
The lone wolf silently shut that thought down by letting the straw in Mint’s mouth, pratically forcing her to drink a bit.
“……… it’s not that bad,” Mint noted.
“See, thought so.” While Mint was looking away, she missed what showed up in Zakuro’s face. “Want the rest of it?”
“S-sure,” she accepted, embarrassed. Of course anything that got the approval of Zakuro got her approval. This was definitely not her actually enjoying the bubble tea. Promise.
A few minutes later, the two of them stopped by a taiyaki stand-in shop. Mint was eyeing the products.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Fish.” She stopped two seconds. “Wait no I take that back, I know it is not fish. I’m just wondering what it’s mostly made of- Zakuro please. ”
Zakuro already made her move. “One normal taiyaki, and one chocolate-filled taiyaki, please.”
“You did not have to,” Mint groaned a few minutes later, even more embarrassed than earlier.
“Don’t talk while eating,” she nonchalantely replied while looking away and taking a bite of her own taiyaki. No one could guess what the lone wolf was thinking, but fudge she’s cute.
Mint sure was enjoying the free treats.
And now, they were in front of the Café Mew Mew.
“We should take one cake on the go at our shop, what do you think?”
“Of course, as long as it is with you!” Mint really liked Akasaka’s pastries, but… the front door was innattended. Well, that’s suspicious.
“Do you think something happened while we’re off?”
“Not sure,” Zakuro tilted her head before opening the door. Screams filled their ears. Something about an actual flood disaster accidentally caused by Bu-Ling, a few dropped glasses on the floor, Retasu sobbing at a distance, Akasaka cleaning this wonderful mess, and at a distance, Ryou and Ichigo arguing once again. Typical monday.
Zakuro closes the door. “Another day,” she says flatly.
“Another day,” Mint repeated in the same tone.
“And that’s how I spent my day yesterday,” Mint ended the story with a sip of her usual afternoon tea. “It was a wonderful trip home.”
Retasu and Ichigo looked at eachother, with one thought in mind.
So who is going to tell her this is a whole date and that she indirectly kissed her?
(Don’t worry, Bu-Ling will.)
