Summary
It begins beneath the mistletoe in the front hall. Dick waits for near on an hour before Bruce and Alfred return from the store and Dick neatly ensures he's standing to the side as Alfred passes him by. He hears Bruce slam the trunk and takes a deep breath, steps under the mistletoe and steels himself for rejection. Bruce's shoes tap up the stairs, his pace normal, but to Dick it takes an eternity. A miniature universe of time where he is at war with himself, debating if he's overstepping too many lines here. If what he's privately always thought of as their issue is really just a him-based problem, Bruce having no part in it. Bruce steps into the foyer and Dick waits, hands behind his back, trying desperately to hide his nerves away by hiding his hands.
