Work Text:
Woohyun sat hugging his knees on the sofa, staring at the illuminated television blankly. He hadn't eaten anything after lunch today, but at this time he had no desire to cook or order anything. It wasn't food he needed.
The television broadcast a music show, and three young girls in beautiful white dresses sang a song gracefully. The soft music that filled the silence in the living room made Woohyun a little drowsy. Then the next group performed. Seven boys in all-black outfits sang and danced energetically, forcing Woohyun to open his eyes again to watch.
Along with the echoing sound of drums and electric guitars, he recalled memories of when Infinite was still active as a group under one agency. The original Infinite, which still has 7 members, sings and dances energetically like the group that currently appears on television. Woohyun rubbed his eyes, felt his eyes a little watery, and then immediately moved to the nearest sink, in the kitchen.
He quickly turned on the water faucet, splashed the cold water to his face, then patted his cheeks. His tee was a little damp on the neck because of his action, but he didn't even care. He was sighing when suddenly the front door of the apartment opened, followed by the rustling sound of plastic bags and light footsteps.
"Woohyun-ah."
Woohyun immediately stopped sighing. He snatched a piece of tissue on the kitchen table, quickly patted his face dry. Now he noticed the water stain on his white tee. While hoping his guest won't notice the stain, he looked back, smiling slightly, "hey. Hyung."
Although with his hands busy arranging his things on the dinner table, Sunggyu's eyes only focused on Woohyun. He squinted his already tiny eyes, and inspected the younger's face carefully. "You're okay?"
"Eung," Woohyun grinned, but Sunggyu still looked at him suspiciously. With one swift throw Woohyun successfully discarded the tissue into the trash bin and walked up to Sunggyu. He looked at the dining table with a cheerful expression. "What do you bring?"
Sunggyu knew there was something Woohyun hid behind that kind of expression, but he decided not to ask further. After all, if Woohyun wants to tell him, he will definitely do it later. So for now he decided to make the atmosphere more cheerful. "Beer and soju. Pizza and french fries. What do you think?"
"Looks good," Woohyun commented, sitting on one side of the table watching Sunggyu sit across from him. He opened a box of pizza and placed it in the middle of the table, then reached into a plastic bag to take the beer cans. He didn't start eating immediately, but was waiting for Sunggu.
Sunggyu rolled his white shirt sleeves to his elbow, then calmly unbuttoned the upper two buttons of his shirt. He just finished his live broadcast an hour ago and didn't even have time to change into any comfortable clothes before went to Woohyun’s apartment. But anyway, he didn't find the shirt uncomfortable though, but maybe his dress pants were a little bit uncomfortable.
After Sunggyu finished preparing himself, Woohyun picked a slice of pizza, followed by Sunggyu. They ate pizza, chatting as usual. Woohyun occasionally mocks Sunggyu about his outfit, then dissing himself because he was wearing a loose white tee and gray sweatpants, then complaining because he looked so shabby compared to Sunggyu.
“You looked okay to me,” Sunggyu laughs. “There was just you and me here, anyway.”
Woohyun pouts, reaching for another can of beer. He just finished his first can.
Sunggyu left his can still half filled while he held the third slice of pizza, watching Woohyun who had already finished two cans of beer and now holding a bottle of soju.
"Hyung. Are you not curious why I invited you today?"
Sunggyu drank a small amount of his beer before answering. "Do you have anything you want to tell me?"
Woohyun nodded, took a long sip of his bottle of soju until only half was left, and then stood up from his chair. He walked to the sofa in front of the television, silently turned on the television. After taking a seat on the middle of the three persons sofa, he invited Sunggyu to sit next to him. "Come here."
Without speaking Sunggyu put his half eaten pizza back in the box, cleaning his hands with wet wipes before catching up with Woohyun on the sofa with a beer can in his hand. He sits next to Woohyun, comfortably puts his right arm holding the beer can on the armrest while watching the younger open youtube app and type his own name.
"Just watch it first," Woohyun quietly said, playing a video from youtube without looking at Sunggyu. "After that you can comment."
So they watch the video without talking. Video of Woohyun singing at a survival show for the producers. He was only a guest on the show, but still the low points he got indirectly judged his singing ability as well. Actually, without any pre notice, Sunggyu already understands what Woohyun means by showing the video to him.
"What do you think?" Woohyun asked after the video was over. He looked at Sunggyu with a wounded expression. "Do you think my singing skills got worse after returning from the military?"
Sunggyu looked at Woohyun, noticing Woohyun's eyes had begun to fill with tears. He obviously doesn't want to hurt Woohyun, so he needs time to organize the words before saying them, but Woohyun quickly catches Sunggyu's silence as a "yes".
"Other producers said my performance had no impact." Woohyun whispered sadly. He lowered his head. "Is my skill that bad?"
"Woohyun-ah, I've actually watched that video," Sunggyu put his arm around Woohyun tightly, pressing Woohyun's shoulder on his side. "The low score was not because you didn't sing well. I think it was the song that lacked impact."
Woohyun still lowered his head. "Really?"
"Mm hmm. It wasn't your fault. You sang it perfectly, but something is lacking in the song arrangement." Sunggyu patted Woohyun's shoulder gently, and then felt Woohyun tremble slightly. So he still wants to cry? "Woohyun-ah."
There was no response.
Sunggyu put his beer can on the table next to the sofa, then used that hand to hold Woohyun's chin and tilted his face up. Now he could see Woohyun's face clearly. In the corner of his eye there was already a tear that was about to drop.
Woohyun didn't make a sound, just looked at Sunggyu. Likewise with Sunggyu. Until Sunggyu understands what Woohyun wanted.
"You need me to say it?" Sunggyu smiled softly, stroking the back of Woohyun's head. He whispered softly. "It's okay to cry."
The next second Woohyun's tears flowed down and he lowered his head again, hugging Sunggyu from the side.
"I also cry often," Sunggyu said, feeling his shirt start to get wet with Woohyun's tears, while his left hand playing with the silky hair on the back of Woohyun's head. "At least once a week."
"But once a week it's too much," Woohyun mumbled, still burying his face on Sunggyu's chest. "Doesn't it mean that Hyung is a cry baby?"
"Oho, you can speak now. Have you gotten better?" Sunggyu stopped stroking Woohyun's head and shifted to tell Woohyun to let go of his embrace. "Then let go–"
"I don't want to."
Sunggyu chuckled lightly, and noticed Woohyun hug his waist tighter. He asked him gently, "doesn't your back hurt? Your sitting position seems uncomfortable."
Woohyun quickly pulled both legs onto the sofa, sitting cross-legged facing Sunggyu with both hands still holding Sunggyu's waist tight. He felt Sunggyu start to push him away, so he tightened his embrace. "Don't go."
"You know, usually I go home before I finish one can of beer," Sunggyu reminded, checking his beer can that had only a few drops left. "I have to go home before getting drunk, as usual."
"Don't go," Woohyun whined, snuggling his face obsessively into Sunggyu's chest. His brown hair got messy and Sunggyu found it adorable.
"I had to run away before you got me drunk," Sunggyu said, chuckling. He patted Woohyun on the back, who now looked like a koala clinging to a tree branch. "I don't have a high level of alcohol tolerance like you."
"Don't go," Woohyun whined again, raising his head to look at Sunggyu. "Can't you stay here? There is no morning schedule tomorrow, right?"
"Woohyun-ah," Sunggyu sighed, smiling softly. "I have to go home–"
"Please stay," asked Woohyun, not loosening his embrace at all.
Sunggyu smiled, looking Woohyun in the eyes. "But I can't sleep on the sofa. My back will hurt–"
Woohyun looked at Sunggyu as he shook his head. "Hyung doesn't know my mattress is a super king bed?"
Sunggyu's smile faded. He looked at Woohyun with a frown on his forehead. "What do you have such a big mattress for?"
Woohyun slowly let go of his embrace, backing away from Sunggyu a few centimeters. "Why? A single man couldn't have a super king bed?"
Sunggyu shrugged. "Well, it's just you don't need that huge mattress for a single person who is sleeping alone, right?" Since Woohyun had let go of his embrace, Sunggyu took his chance to stand up. "Then, I'm going home–"
Woohyun quickly reached out, holding Sunggyu's hand so that the older could not walk away. "Hyung."
"Woohyun-ah," Sunggyu turned his head, smiling tiredly. It seems that tonight Woohyun was really clingy to the point of not wanting to let him go. Maybe he was a little bit drunk? "If I'm staying here you're going to get me drunk–"
"I won't force you to drink anymore," Woohyun interrupted quickly, now holding Sunggyu's hand with both hands gently. "But hyung stays here."
Before Sunggyu could protest, Woohyun quickly continued. "I have a lot of clothes you can wear and we can share the huge mattress that doesn't fit my needs. Yes? Yes? Please?"
And because of Woohyun's puppy eyes, Sunggyu obviously couldn't say no.
