Summary:

Who else is to know about such a thing?

Notes:

Ho ho ho!

Hey folks, welcome to what's probably the last story I post until next year! I'm dealing with heavy episodes of depression so what better remedy than to write?

Hope you enjoy this installment!

Now to answer the question: Who IS to know about such a thing?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Why, the Goddess of Love, herself.

How predictable. Is there really any question or speculation as to how she found out? How can she possibly be that perceptive of love where she can sniff out a relationship ?

Well, it isn’t as difficult as one may think. The Goddess of Destruction, who could go on for hours about the beauty of love while supporting the romantic endeavors of two members from Universe 2, and using the power of love as a final defense during the tournament of power, would certainly be able to do it with ease. She considered herself to be an expert in the “field” of love, and she did have many ways of deciphering physical interactions to conclude a meaning or reasoning behind them.

For example, why was Quitela hanging out with Champa on a seemingly ordinary day? Could it be for business? Of course not. Even if it were for business, Quitela and Champa do not belong to twin universes, so not only would it make no sense for them to see each other for that matter, but anyone meeting for destroyer-related purposes would be a major no-no . They may be a bit behind on the rules, but she was perfectly aware that even they knew that helping with other universes was not allowed unless there was a life-threatening emergency…and whatever they were doing was definitely not life-threatening.

And another thing, since when were these two so buddy-buddy? She was under the impression that most of the Gods couldn’t stand each other, especially these two. Hell, she was certain that they hated everyone. But when she took a step back to process it, it did make sense. Quitela was probably the most cynical of the Gods, and with Champa being almost as selfish, they’d naturally be drawn to each other’s energy. In addition, neither of them really takes their jobs seriously and focuses more on personal matters than their universes. Quitela would rather play games, while Champa would rather sleep all day. They both love to eat and act childish when things don’t go their way. They were more similar than she ever realized.

But with that being said, it is worth noting how ironic this entire situation was.

Quitela is the last person Heles would have ever expected to fall for anyone . He was selfish, cunning, manipulative, heartless, narcissistic, and downright ugly, but in spite of all of that, she always had the tiniest hunch that he would develop feelings for someone regardless. It was a very small chance and an even smaller scenario, but to her, it was never impossible. In considering his manipulative side, she couldn’t help but note another similarity between him and Champa: they’re both smart when they need to be.

Heles may have been focused on her own team during the tournament, but she did notice a very critical side of Champa that came into display only when needed. Many of the instructions given to his fighters were rational, especially the fusion between those Saiyan girls. It was, in all honesty, brilliant. Prior to that, she always had a feeling that Champa was just an imbecile who would whine his way out of any situation so long as it was convenient for him, but she should’ve known better than to think that low of him. Besides, if anyone were to judge him as harshly as she was right now, it would be Beerus.

But then that raises the question…what would Beerus think of this? Quitela hated Beerus with a burning passion, and every time they saw each other, the exchanges were never pleasant. But she never saw that same energy between Quitela and Champa. How would Beerus feel about that? Would he even care? Would he find it offensive? How could this mouse be so close to one cat and be hateful toward the other? Or was it even about species…who knows with these two? Her love senses are never wrong, and just by looking at them, she could confirm it.

Their shocked demeanors would forever live in her mind.

She decided to pay them a visit to check on their “blossoming endeavors”. Naturally, they pretended not to know what she was on about and told her to get lost. Now, usually, Heles would get annoyed by people’s nastiness towards her, but this was far too intriguing not to stay. She wasn’t going anywhere until they gave her the confirmation, and she didn’t care if they were aware of that or not.

For their sake, she’d prefer if they would just come out with it. They know better than to challenge her love radar. She could read them like a romance novel; they were definitely in love. Would it make sense to proceed with an interrogation? Everything has already been overviewed; any lies they attempt to use at this point would just be embarrassing for them.

But, since they chose awkward silence over confessions, she just decided to come out with it.

“I know you two are dating,” She said nonchalantly. Almost instantly, they denied it. They feigned being offended at her statement, calling her out for saying such heinous words to them. Naturally, Champa delved into an overdramatic rant about how he could never be in a relationship with any of the Gods, let alone Quitela.

She eyed Quitela once that sentence was finished, and despite it being for a show, she could tell that it stung. Damn, Champa, don’t hurt his feelings to prove a point…

“It’s alright, I’m not here to judge. In fact, I came to congratulate you!” She presented them with a bottle of wine and a card. From their perspective, it seemed like she pulled it out of her ass. Champa hesitantly took the card and read it; “Congratulations on your loving endeavors! I shall not bore you with a speech, but rather I shall gift you with this elixir, from my people to you two! <3”

Was this a prank…? Nope! With that, she bid them a good day and left as soon as she arrived, confusing the hell out of the duo. But she wasn’t quite done with them just yet.

She walked outside to be met by her guide angel, who seemed incredibly amused, yet a tad bit confused.

“You seem quite accomplished, my lady,” He said with a smile. “But you didn’t seem to acquire your confirmation.”

“Just give it a second,” She said with a smug look. Surely enough, Quitela came up to her, slightly flustered and looking as if he demanded all of the answers in the world. Firstly, and foremost: “How the hell did you know?!”

Both Heles and Sour chuckled. “I’m the goddess of love. I would be a fool not to know,” She responded, wiping a fake tear from her eye. He couldn’t argue with that. If there was any sort of love in the universe, she would be the first to sniff it out. But that led to his second question: “What tipped you off?”

“I noticed that you two had been spending an unusual amount of time together. But that wasn’t all…” She walked closer and kneeled down a bit. “You two have a chemistry that even I never saw coming. It was so minuscule that it easily went unnoticed, but you know me.”

He chuckled. “I suppose. And no amount of denying was gonna throw you off.”

“Damn right. By the way, I hope his reaction didn’t hurt you,” She said with a bit of concern.

“No no,” He assured her. “I expect that kind of shit from his overdramatic ass.” They both laughed, with Sour chuckling a bit himself.

“I assume he knows?” He asked, referring to Sour. She nodded, knowing that it was inevitable. By extension, it’s safe to assume all of the angels know.

“Have you thought of telling Beerus?” She asked, standing back up.

He shook his head. “Not really up to me.”

“Well, it sort of is, but I understand. Does Champa seem like he wants to tell him?”

He shook his head again. “I doubt he ever will, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Beerus knows and I’m just unaware of it. Not that I really care what he thinks.”

She shrugged. “Well, I suppose I should depart. If you two wish to go on a date sometime, don’t be afraid to stop by the second universe. I’m more than happy to help out,” She winked.

“Thank you,” He said with a warm smile. They bowed before each other, with Sour bowing as well. With that, she returned to her angel and they departed. Quitela watched them go and just stood there for a moment.

Would it be bad for Beerus to know? What if he already knew? Would he ever approve of this? And why did he care so much?

Regardless, one of the gods knew. How long would it be before the others found out?
