Chapter Text
“I don’t know how, but this is your fault, weretiger.” Akutagawa said as he glared at Atsushi.
“How is it my fault that we got hit by that ability user we were fighting?”
“It just is!” Someone cleared their throat, and the pair were abruptly reminded that they had an audience. Not just an audience, but a large number of teens and a tired-looking man.
“Would either of you like to explain how, exactly, you got past UA’s defenses?” the tired man's voice was dry.
“I’m sorry!” Atsushi blurted. “We didn’t mean to be here, promise! We were fighting an ability user and they managed to hit us with their ability, and now we’re here!” Atsushi said in a rush, clearly panicking.
“...ability user?” the tired man asked slowly.
“Yeah? Someone with a unique superpower? We’re pretty rare, but I am a bit surprised you haven’t heard of us.”
“I don’t know what’s wrong with you, but a superpower unique to each person is called a quirk, and eighty percent of the population have them.” The tired man replied. Atsushi paused, then put their face in their hands and groaned.
“Fuck.” Atsushi pretty much never swore, but they were pretty sure the situation called for it. “Dimension travel? Really?”
“I’m getting Nedzu-san.” The tired man stated.
“No need! I’ve been watching over the security cameras!” A voice announced over the PA. “Aizawa-kun, would you please escort our intruders to my office?”
“Only after you send someone to watch the hellspawn.”

“Hello, hello, please sit down! Aizawa-kun, you may leave.” The tired man, now Aizawa-san, left. “Now, introductions are in order! I’m Nedzu, principal of this school! And you two are?”
“Atsushi Nakajima, they/them. It’s nice to meet you?”
“Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, he/him.”
“Ah, I forgot. I also use he/him! Now, I overheard your conversation with Aizawa-kun on the security cameras. Dimension travel, I assume.” Nedzu-san said.
“Yeah. Not intentionally though. Akutagawa and I were fighting an ability user and they, uh, managed to get us.” They buried their face in their hands again. “God, the agency is going to be so worried. Or worse, they’ll think I’m dead. And worse still, when it comes to my relationships with them, I might be if we can’t find a way back!” no one could see, but there was the slightest glimmer in their eyes. They’d just lost their only family, possibly for good.
“Weretiger. Get a hold of yourself. You are stronger than this.” Atsushi took a deep breath and lifted their head.
“Sorry about that.” they apologized, trying to calm themself.
“Quite alright! I would be a little worried if you weren’t emotional!” Nedzu chirped. “Now, tell me a little of your dimension, simply for my own curiosity, of course, and I’ll explain the one you’ve landed in.”
“I’m not quite sure of what to say…I can tell you about the city we were living in until we landed here, though.”
“That’ll do!”
“Ummm…I’m part of the ADA, the Armed Detective Agency. It’s an organization mostly comprised of people with abilities. We help with crime the police don’t, mostly stuff with ability users, though we occasionally do other stuff. And of course, there’s the Port Mafia. Although I’d say the ADA’s relationship with them is more… rivalry? Not that we commit crimes, more that we have a fairly close relationship with them, like we’ll team up for things on occasion. Mostly it's an enemy of my enemy thing.” Atsushi said in what was a bit of a ramble, before turning to Akutagawa. “Do you…have anything to add?” Akutagawa stared straight at Nedzu as he said,
“I’m a member of the Port Mafia. Will you have a problem with that?”
“Well, you don’t have a criminal record in this world! And as long as you keep from doing anything illegal here, I won’t have one! Now, speaking of records, neither of you have any documents in this world. You two can stay here until we get that figured out, and you can stay here after that if you help out!”
“That’d be amazing…what’s the catch?” Atsushi asked.
“Like I said, just that you help out a little! I’m sure you two could help with hero training!” At their confused expressions, Nedzu spoke. “Oh, I suppose now would be a great time for an explanation of this dimension.” And he explained. It took longer than Atsushi’s explanation because there was more they needed to know in order to understand this world. “Now, we will have to explain your situation to the staff here.” Atsushi sighed.
“Fine.”
“I guess.” Akutagawa added.

The staff meeting went about as smoothly as it could’ve. After the initial uproar, the only issue was when Nedzu cheerily stated that Akutagawa and Atsushi would be living in the 1-A dorm, and that was only from an exhausted Aizawa who didn’t want more on his plate.

After their situation was explained yet again, this time to class 1-A, Aizawa wandered off, most likely to sleep and maybe take a headache reducer. The class introduced themselves.
“So do you two have powerful quirks or what?” Bakugo demanded.
“First of all, we call them abilities. Second of all, why does it matter?” Atsushi looked genuinely confused. “I mean, my friend Ranpo doesn’t have an ability, and he’s a genius detective and an invaluable part of the ADA. Ah, that’s the organization I work for. It stands for the Armed Detective Agency and it’s an organization of mostly ability users that fight crime and such like.” Bakuso looked scandalized.
“You let use- quirkless people work with you?” Atsushi simply looked confused.
“Yeah? For one, he is a genius. For another, the majority of our world doesn’t have abilities. I don’t know if anyone on the police force has them.” at this point, Akutagawa cut in.
“I don’t know if you’re stupid, humble, or both. Probably both.” he turned to Bakugo. “Yes, we both have powerful abilities. Although, I can’t believe I’m siding with the weretiger BUT, I also don’t see why it matters. Yeah, it helps, but they’re not the end-all-be-all.”
“HAAH? Of course it matters! Anyway, I’ll destroy you and prove why I'm going to be number one!”
“Please don’t mind him!” Midoriya squeaked. “He’s like that with everyone!”
“Shut up, deku!” Atsushi went slightly pale.
“Please tell me that ‘deku’ means something different here.”
“I doubt it.” Akutagawa said, though not as unkindly as usual.
