Work Text:
It would seem Cosmos had found themself in Perceptor's lab, listening to him prattle away about scientific formulas and chemical compounds. If it had been any other day, Cosmos might have been a tad more interested in exactly what Perceptor was rambling about, but Cosmos was instead distracted by Perceptor himself.
Cosmos never typically got to stay long enough with another Autobot to get to know them, but whenever Cosmos got injured and needed to recover at base they always found themself in Perceptor's lab. This was one such occasion.
"Cosmos, could you perhaps pass me that phial? The one full of mercury." Perceptor asked, not looking up from his experiment.
Cosmos hadn't heard Perceptor, or more accurately, Cosmos wasn't paying attention to what Perceptor had said. They just continued to stare at him.
After a moment of Cosmos not doing anything, Perceptor straightened up and turned toward them. "Cosmos? Are you paying attention?"
Cosmos blinked and shook their head. "Sorry, Perceptor. I was distracted."
Perceptor stepped toward Cosmos and then took the phial he had been asking for into his servo. He then held it in front of their face, bringing attention to it. "If you are to be in my lab, you must pay attention at all times. Some things here are quite explosive, and if you aren't careful or attentive enough, you could injure yourself or worse." Perceptor then lowers the servo holding the phial. "I doubt you wish to exacerbate your injuries from your glorious crash landing from just a solar cycle ago."
Cosmos ex-vented a huff. "I was being shot down by Decepticons."
"If you were more careful, like you should be in my lab, you might not have been shot down. Do you think?" Perceptor said, turning back to his experiment.
"Oh, I'll tell you what I think! I think of you."
Perceptor looked back towards Cosmos once again, a quizzical look on his face. "Why are you thinking of me? Especially on critical intel missions, why is the thought of me distracting you so much?" He set the phial of mercury down on the table as he spoke.
"This is why." Cosmos approached Perceptor, reaching a servo toward the side of his head, where his helm meets face, and gently guides him closer to theirs. Cosmos retracts their mouthplate, a smile on their face. "I like you, a lot, Percy. May I kiss you?"
It took Perceptor a moment to respond, thinking of how to answer, though when he did a smile crept onto his face. "You may."
Cosmos closed the last bit of gap between them, softly kissing Perceptor. Cosmos' warm lips meeting Perceptor's accepting lips, lovingly. They then separated from Perceptor, slowly, not wanting to push boundaries any further. They let their servos fall back to their sides.
"Cosmos, I have grown to enjoy your company in my lab." Perceptor took one of Cosmos' servos into his. "I apologize for being so harsh on you a moment ago. I have come to worry about your safety quite a bit." Perceptor then leans in and kisses Cosmos, kissing them lovingly and deeply. As he did so, he squeezed Cosmos' servo softly, and lovingly.
After a moment Perceptor and Cosmos separated from the kiss, but still held onto each other's servo. A content smile on their faces.
"I should return to my research; you should join me." Perceptor squeezed Cosmos's servo lightly once again.
"I already have?"
"No, no. I want you to participate, not just observe."
"I would love to."
With those words Cosmos spoke, Perceptor lead Cosmos back to the table he had been at before and together they worked on science.
