Summary
As Jake moves his family to the Oceanic Tribes to seek refuge, he is surprised to see a pair of twins whom the village Chief Tonowari is fostering.
Awke and her twin brother Kahe were orphaned by the War against the sky people 15 years ago. Tonowari and Ronal agreed to shelter the siblings, trying their best to integrate them into their culture in spite of their differences. Kahe - the eldest assimulated with no problem but his sister was a different problem altogether.
Feeling like an outcast, Awke finds peace and acceptance in solitude, and in the company of her "heart" Kahe.
With the arrival of Jake Sully and his family, Awke finds herself tangled with the eldest Neteyam. Awke's world expands with new additions to her once-small family. With more people to lose, Awke must find the strength to face her fears and live her life to the fullest.
