“I’m going to challenge Mihawk,” he’d said, like that was supposed to mean something to Sanji. Sanji didn’t doubt that Zoro would become the World’s Greatest Swordsman someday, but… “Come and watch me fight.”
“Why?” Sanji had countered. He hadn’t meant for it to sound quite so aggressive, but… honestly, why would he go? This was Zoro’s dream, not his. And besides, seeing Mihawk hand Zoro’s ass to him once was enough to last him through this life and the next.
“…I always assumed we’d be together after everything.” Zoro’d said, so nonchalant it almost, almost went unnoticed.
“The fuck are you talking about?” It hadn’t made any sense. Why would they stay together..? They were friends, sure, but they each had their own lives to live, their own dreams to accomplish. He didn’t see Luffy—or any of the others—clinging to him, claiming that they couldn’t achieve their own dreams unless he was there on the sidelines, cheering them on.
