Empty cold and numb…..
Those three feelings were what Carmen was feeling as she shed her tears. They killed him, they killed her baby boy. He was a newborn infant and because he was “Satan’s spawn” he could not live. And she had heard that Jules was now married. Well she had been married three months ago to a man named Chase Devineaux. As much as it hurts to know her one true love is now bound by the tight strings of marriage. And that same man that’s part of the same organization that hunts her down like an animal. She let out a heavy sigh and then looked over at the small window that held her reflection. She began to point out how she had changed.
Her once hair, so fiery and wild, had now withered. Her silver stormy eyes had now lost their thunder. And her once glowing skin, now was pale and sickly. Carmen heard shuffling behind her, the sounds of her cell door opening. She looked behind her and saw, her . Her precious Jules.
When Julia saw what her love was now she had not flinched. Even if Carmen was not as beautiful as she used to be she was still the beautiful woman she had known five months ago. Once Carmen had looked back at her she smiled, then she also smiled too.
“Jules?’’ Her soft and tender smile graced upon her ghastly face.
“I wanted to see you. Even if it would be one last time.’’ Said Julia softly with her thick English accent.
“So you’re moving to San Diego? Huh?’’ Said Carmen playfully.
“Tired by how small San Marino is?’’
Julia smiled.
“Yes well, my husband and I are moving there.’’
“The Frenchman?’’
“Yes.’’
There was a pause of silence between the two women.
“I’ve missed you.’’ Admitted Carmen.
Julia inched closer towards Carmen. Then the Latina pulled her in her arms.
“It’s not fair. You’re about to be executed and I’m gonna be a mile away.” Said Julia as she laid down on her beloved’s lap, Carmen stroked her hair.
“I don’t like it either.” Responded Carmen.
“I just saw my little boy get killed and I’m gonna join him very soon.”
“But I’ll be watching you Jules. Because you’re my most precious jewel.”
She placed a delicate finger on Julia’s stomach. Rubbing circles on her abdomen.
“Jules?”
“Yes?”
“It’s a girl.”
