Marinette was sitting in the upstairs game room of the Wayne Manor with Damian and the other kids while the adults were downstairs at their party in his super-fancy mansion. "Thanks for inviting us to your house for new years, Dami." She smiled.
"Anything for you, Angel."
"Hey, Marinette, do you have anymore of those macarons?" Jon asked.
"Kent, you fool! Marinette is not your personal chef!" Damian chided angrily, glaring at him.
"Of course, Jon." She went over and pulled out a box of macarons from her bag and gave it to him. Jon pumped his fist in victory.
"Idiot," Damian huffed, rolling his eyes.
Hal had never been so bored in his entire life. Why did even Spooky bother to host the new year party in his stupid fancy house? God, he could've gone anywhere else but here. He leaned into a comfy chair and drank his drink.
Gardner was being Gardner, shooting off fireworks and laughing his ass off. Icemaiden, or Tora, was scolding him for being a dumbass. Fire, or Beatriz, was hitting on a new Justice League recruit, her sexy smile threatening to split her face.
Hal then turned to see Booster and Ted, trying to sell their ideas to some bigwigs in fancy clothes. He doubted it would even catch on. He saw Oliver trying to go near the karaoke machine, but Dinah dragged him away from it. Thank god for her presence.
"Jordan." Bruce spoke, causing Hal to turn his head to see the object of his frustration.
"What up, Spooks?"
"Do you have any resolutions for the new year?"
Hal slowly blinked, shocked at the sudden question that came out of the stoic and brooding man before him.
He kept blinking, before he began to answer him.
"Yeah, I got one. My resolution is to keep my sunshine away from any bad influences."
Bruce raised an eyebrow. "That's it? I expected something more serious from you."
"Well, what's your resolution, Spooky?"
"To make a better world for our children."
Hal looked at him with a look of what could be called understanding. "...I hear you, Bruce. I hear you."
"The countdown is starting!" Kyle shouted, pointing to the screen.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the shiny ball on the screen, which was slowly lowering down to the numbers on-screen.
Hal watched as the people began to count down, his corpsmen and fellow heroes included. The old year was going away, and the new one was coming. At least he would face it with his sunshine together.
The fireworks and people cried out loudly as the ball dropped, the new year arriving like a hurricane. Hal sighed as he watched the others cheer like idiots.
"Happy fucking new year!" Guy shouted as he lit up a huge-ass firecracker with mini firecrackers in it. "Here comes the good times!"
"Guy, no!" Tora shouted, but it was too late as the fireworks flew out all over, exploding everywhere. People were running around like idiots, yelping and screeching. Hal just shook his head.
"Oh, my god!" Dick yelped as he ducked to the floor. Kori just watched in confusion as a firework passed by her face.
"GARDNER!" Beatriz shouted as she smacked the smoking seat of her fancy green dress that was struck by a stray firework, putting the fire out.
Hal quickly turned away, not wanting to catch a glimpse of Beatriz's choice of underwear as he watched Arisa use her ring to catch the stray fireworks with an oven mitt construct.
"I am going to kill Gardner," Soranik hissed, dodging a firework.
"Yeah, take a number," Kyle gulped nervously.
Tora came inside and placed her jacket around Bea's waist, covering the hole on the seat of her dress. "Seriously, I can't believe you even wore a thong to the party..." She sighed.
"I was hoping to get some action before Gardner fucking ruined it!" Beatriz growled darkly, shooting a death glare at the object of her "You're welcome, Queen Bea!" Guy laughed, grinning like a loon.
"DIE, LAUGHING BOY!" Fire growled as she rushed at him, her fists flaming.
"Bea, NO!" Tora ran after her, panicking.
Hal sighed and reached for his phone, a small smile on his face as he looked at a message on the screen.
happy new year papa hal!
"It's good to be a dad sometimes..." Hal hummed.
"I'm right here, Hal."
"I know, Spooky, now go tend to your little munchkins." Hal looked over at Jason laughing his ass off at a screaming Guy being attacked by an angry Beatriz while Tora was trying to tear her away from him, to no avail.
"Serves him right. I want a turn." Soranik growled.
"C'mon, Sora, what about the people that got hit by the fireworks?" Kyle pleaded, making the alien doctor sigh and head over to the victims of the firework attacks.
Hal let a small grin decorate his face; at least there was one good thing that came out of this, and seeing Gardner get his comeuppance was glorious.
"By the way, I expect to see you at the go-kart races again, Jordan."
"You son of a bitch." Hal replied, glaring at Bruce, before grinning widely. "I'm in."
