Summary
Shen Jiu sees out of Shen Fang's eyes. He is restless, he is dizzied—he speaks from her mouth: "I am nine."
"No," says the grandmother. "You are two."
"I am nine."
"No," says the grandmother. "You are four. Get down from there."
"I am nine."
"No," says the grandmother. "You are six. Have you been fainting again?"
"I am nine."
"No," says the grandmother. "You are seven. Stop that, I know you're faking. Come along, we're going."

Shen Yuan tilts his head, dark hair brushing the crest of his cheek. "All right, Meimei," he says. "You're nine."
By the time Shen Fang is literally nine, she doesn't answer to Shen Fang anymore.
