Work Text:
Paul, Sally, and Percy were supposed to have a small picnic on the roof.
They were supposed to.
Paul and Sally were talking slightly about her book that was about to be released as Percy listened, munching on some blue cookies. (Why it's blue, Paul figures he will never know, but it seems important to both of them, so he doesn't probe.)
That was until Percy's head snapped up, drawing the two's attention to him. He quickly stumbles up as a small kid stumbles out from a wall?
Wait, where did that kid come from?
He looks at the scrawny kid, much too bony to be healthy, and stumbles towards Percy.
He falls into Percy's arms mumbling something about camp and attack?
"Shit," Percy says before holding his hand up a whistling as loud as he can. That whistle could be heard for miles, he swears. Or at least as much as Paul thinks he could.
"Percy, what-?" Paul tries to say as he scrambles up after Sally.
"I need to grab the ambrosia," Percy says as he hands the now sleeping kid to Sally, who holds him gently before Percy bolts inside.
"Is he okay? Does he need a hospital?" Paul questions looking at the kid. He has jet-black hair and pale skin. He honestly looks goth.
Before Sally can respond, Percy bolts out with a small bag of golden square-like gel. Percy takes the kid out of Sally's arms before a loud horse neigh startles Paul into turning away.
He whips around to find a horse flying on their little NYC house.
What the fuck?
"Nico, I swear to hades, wake up," Percy growls behind him, making Paul reluctantly turn back to face his stepson.
The kid grunts in Percy's arms, and Percy looks unimpressed as he tries shoving some of the gel he grabbed into his mouth.
"Nico, if you don't wake your ass up, I will sick Will on you." Percy threatens the boy -Nico?- snaps his eyes open. He opens his mouth to respond, only for the gel to get shoved in his mouth.
The horse walks over to Percy. The fucking flying horse. Paul's mind reminds, and he feels like he's missing the entire story.
Percy shoves the kid onto the horse with a slight heft before jumping onto it himself.
"Sorry, mom! Camps under attack." Is all Percy says before mumbling something to the horse?
Wings unfurl from the horse, and the horse runs to the end of the roof.
Wait, does that horse have Wings?
What is going on?
The horse jumps off the roof, making Paul's heart leap up to his throat for a second before the horse appears back above the edge, flying away with Percy in the front. A kid leaning on his back, drooling.
"What the fuck was that?" Paul whispers, looking at Sally.
"Ah, Paul, you may want to sit down," Sally tells him in lieu of an answer.
