ASLFUA Winter Exchange
Miae woke up to the feeling of her cheek being poked. She opened her eyes to reveal a very disheveled Cheol looking softly down at her. Miae smiled up at him and raised her arm to ruffle his already messy hair.
“Hey!” he softly chuckled while shaking his head to get her hand away.
“It’s what you get for waking me up,” Miae huffed out with a grin.
“You asked me to wake you!” He responded.
Miae squinted her eyes at him with a look that screamed “why would I do that?” and buried herself in the blankets and snuggled closer to Cheol.
“Miae-yah, you told me to wake you-”
“That doesn’t sound like me! Maybe it was my evil twin,” Miae said while closing her eyes, fully committed to falling back asleep.
“Right, your evil twin that I’ve never heard about until now,” Cheol smiled and poked her cheek again.
“I didn’t tell you because it could’ve scared you off.”
“Because you couldn’t do that yourself?”
Miae opened her eyes again, turned to look up at Cheol, and pinched his cheek.
“You’re really lucky I love you or I’d do more than just pinch you!” Miae quipped. “Still, why would I ask you to wake me up?”
“Because it’s snowing.”
Miae looked up at him blankly when all of a sudden her eyes lit up. That’s right! They decided to vacation in the countryside where it usually snows more than in the city, so Miae had asked Cheol to wake her incase it did snow while they were sleeping.
She gasped and sat up, immediately pulling the covers off of her and Cheol.
“You’re right! The snow! Ah, I forgot! Quickly, let’s get- ahhhh!”
Miae was quickly pulled back into the bed and into Cheol’s arms. She looked up at him questioningly and tried to get out, but he was holding on to her very tightly.
“Cheol-ah, what-”
“If you want to go back to sleep that bad then I’ll help. I guess you didn’t really mean it about the snow,” Cheol smirked.
“What?! No! I did! I just forgot! Cheol-ah, please!” Miae squirmed in his arms.
After a few minutes of struggling and a few persuasive kisses, Miae was finally out and getting ready with some clothes fit for the weather outside.
“Take your jacket off; you have to eat first,” Cheol said while taking some plates out of a cupboard.
“I’m wearing it so I can just put my shoes on after I eat and be ready!” Miae exclaimed excitedly.
“Yeah, no. You’ll get a heatstroke wearing that inside,” Cheol glared at Miae, who finally, hesitantly, took off her jacket.
They quickly ate, finished getting ready, and headed outside.
“It looks so pretty! Right Cheol-ah?” Miae beamed.
She grabbed his hand and led him toward a large mound of snow.
“We can make snowmen with this snow! We can make each other!”
Cheol worked on making the snowmen’s base while Miae gathered more snow and materials for their features.
“Ok, I’m done with the base, so start handing me the materials for their faces,” Cheol extended his hand while Miae handed him the materials.
Cheol neatly arranged the features on the snowmen while Miae looked at his progress.
“Pfft-”
Cheol perked up at Miae’s small laugh.
“What?”
“You look so concentrated on the snowmen!”
“Well, they look off. They’re supposed to be us, right?”
“Yeah?”
“Then you’re missing your eyebrows. Those twigs are too thin. Go get a log or something.”
“Hey!” Miae softly slapped him. “Fine, put my “eyebrows” on your forehead for your wrinkles.”
“What?!” Cheol’s eyebrows arched. “I don’t have wrinkles!”
“Hmmm, not yet, but from the way you arch your eyebrows and frown all the time you will soon- ack!”
Miae quickly raised her arms to block the snowball Cheol threw her way. She lowered her arms to peek at Cheol only to raise them again because another snowball was coming her way.
“Hey! You should’ve warned me!” Miae yelled while ducking and quickly grabbing some snow at her feet.
She quickly formed a ball and threw it at Cheol. Cheol quickly recovered after being hit with the snowball and started packing as much snow as he could into a ball. Miae was hitting him relentlessly while he tried making the snowball as big as he could.
“Perks of having small hands? I can make snowballs faster!” Miae laughed.
“Faster, but smaller!” Cheol laughed back as he threw his giant snowball at Miae. She gasped as she was hit and fell back. She quickly tried to recover and get back up, but she was hit with another snowball.
“Gahh! Hey, wait- AAACKKK!” Miae was cleaning the snow off her face when she saw Cheol running at her with a handful of snow.
“W-wait! Hold on! Cheol-ah, time out- Gah!” She desperately tried to say as she tried getting up, but Cheol was too fast and soon enough her face was full of snow.
Cheol laughed as Miae looked at him with a face full of stun and snow.
“Eeeek!” Cheol yelled as Miae pulled him down to join her on the powder-filled snow.
The couple tried weakly throwing snow on each other, but it was hard to do so from their laughter. After a few minutes, they managed to calm down.
Miae got herself in a star position and started to swing her arms and legs back and forth against the snow.
“Hey, make a snow angel with me!” she smiled at Cheol.
Truth be told, Cheol preferred to look at her rosy cheeks and cheeky smile while snow got stuck on her hair- still, he got in a star position and started swinging his hands and legs. They continued making a jumping jack motion for a good minute until they finally, and carefully, got back up.
Miae smiled widely seeing their snow angels next to each other and turned to Cheol when she heard his soft chuckles.
“You have snow all over your back,” he grinned.
“You do, too!” Miae laughed while pointing at his back. Cheol couldn’t see behind him, but he decided that Miae’s giggles were enough proof.
“Ok, we should go back inside for now. Our clothes can get wet from the snow,” Cheol pat Miae on the head and ruffled her hair.
“Ok, but after we change, we’re coming back out! We have to go buy a sled. Oh, and I’ll make a quick snack to eat. Want to make some tea while I do that?” Miae reached over her head to grab his hand and led him towards the house. They chatted about the kinds of tea they had and about the best places to go sledding
