Chapter Text
Peter was nevous. How could he not be? He was sitting on the ground next PEPPER POTTS office, waiting for her to tell him if he got the job or not. It wasn't something big tho. Just an intern spot in the Stark Industri PR team. Normally this kind of stuff would be talk over the phone or in a mail, but Ms. Potts asked for him to come over at the Stark Tower aka. The Avengers Tower to go over a few things. Was it because he was 14? Was he too young for this? Did Ms. Potts asked him to come over so that he would get the once in the life time opportunity to enter the Stark Tower, only to then refuse him? He really needed this job! Sure, the Daily Bugle paid him good for the photos he sells and he gets good money on his job at the Golden Spider Tattoo Shop, but it wasn't enought to pay all the bills that he and May had to pay. The landlord keep nagging Peter about the rent and Peter can only say that he would bring in the rent soon. He knew that the landlord didn't want to stress May out with the rent, so he stress Peter out with it, adding more guilt to the already depressed teenager. So Peter has to deal now with schoolwork, paying for rent, dealing with bullies, dealing with teachers that allaways scream at him for doodling and not paying attention in class in class (even to he allways answear correct when they question him and has homework brought in time) and not mention the fact that he was Spider-Man. Oh yeah! Did he mention that he was the freacking Spider-Man? New York newest vigilante? Saving the citizens of Queens for about three mounths Yeah! Add that to his list of worry!
Now he can only sit on the ground, headphones with music on, looking on Pinterest for inspiration and calming himself down, hoping that Ms. Potts would arrive soon. He sigh, looking at his clothes. Should he had wear something more sofisticated? Like a suit or something? But he didn't own a suit tho. He wear a red and black oversize sweater that had a few holes in it, web-shooters on each hand, a black beanie with his curly hair poking out of it, a pair of glasses with a black frame, ripped black jeanes with red painted spots on them, fingerless black gloves and a old black pair of convers that had red paint on them, making it look like the stomped someone to dead....
Why did he made all his clothes in alt style? It made him stand out from everyone else that was moving around the halls!
The sound heels clicking to the ground and a tap on his shoulder made him look and take of the headphones.
"Peter Parker? Sorry for making you wait." Miss Potts was next to him and Peter was up on his feet a second later and fixing his clothes.
"N-no problem Miss Potts! I wasn't waiting for that long!" lair, he was waiting for some time now. Miss Potts give him a odd look, then she looks up at the celling.
"FRIDAY? How long has Peter Parker been waiting?" the AI didn't waste time answearing, even as Peter looking a little panicked. He didn't want Miss Potts to think that he was very desperate, even tho he was.
"Mr. Parker was waiting for almost 3 hours Ms. Potts. Even came with half an hour ealy then the time requested for his arrivel." Peter wanted to dig a hole in the ground and stay there as Ms. Potts give him a soft look.
"Just wanted to make sure that I am on time..." he said as he looked down. Ms. Potts puts her hand on his shoulder, giving him a smile.
"Sorry again for making you wait, but that atleast tells me that you are punctual and serious young man. From your application, you wanted a intern spot on the PR team, right?" he nods at her statement and she continues: "I see, lets talk more inside, shall we. On actual chairs this time?" Peter once again wanted to trow himself into a hole and never get out as Ms. Potts lead him into her office. Yes, there were chairs next to her office, but they were very uncomfortable for him and he opted to sit on the ground. He blame it on his spider powers.
As he sits down in front of her desk, he immediately wanted to either sit on the ground or put his feet up, but he had to look proffesional (too late for that buddy). She pulls up a holografic display that had all sorts of infomation about him.
"Let's see: from the information that you provide and the ones send from your school, you are a very dedicated student Mr.Parker! There are some notes that from the past 3 mounth, you had been arriving late to classes and quit most of the clubs that you were in." She gives him a look, more then likely wanting answear. He looked down, thinking of how to explain himself.
"Things haven't been that easy for the past 3 mounths for me and my aunt..." she give him an odd look again as a notification poped on the display and she made a 'ohh' sound. Peter looked up and was meet with the face of his late uncle Ben and he quickly looked away, painfull memorise coming back and he started to shake a little. Ms. Potts took notice and swiped the informatin away. They both stood in silence for a moment, but Ms.Potts decide to break it.
"I'm sorry for your loss" Peter hear this a million time now and his response was allways the same.
"It's fine..."
They stood in silence again. Ms. Potts was about to say something more, but the the door slamed open and new voice filling the quiet room.
"Pepper? Do you have minute? I need you-Oh! Hello there!"
Peter head wipped around so fast that he was afraid that it might snap. Just entering the office, was non other then Tony Stark himself.
"Tony! Can you wait out side for a bit? I'm in the middle of something." Tony rises his hands and smiles as he gets closer to Pepper desk.
"Sorry for intrerupting. I will wait here. Just pretend that I'm not here." easyer said that done as Peter could only stare at him. Tony Stark was one of Peter idols ever since he saved his life back in 2010 at the Stark Expo. Pepper cough brought him back to reality.
"Sorry about this Peter. Let's move on. I notice that you already have two other part time jobs. Are you sure you want to pick up a third one?" She brought up his two other job at the Daily Bugle as a photographer and at the Golden Spider Tattoo Shop as a tattoo artist. Tony rises an eyebrow at his tattoo artist job.
"Arn't you a bit young to be a tattoo artist? Got a license kid?" he asks and Peter nods, brining up his tattoo license. Peter puts on the desk and Tony picks it up, examine it a bit, gives it to Pepper, she looks at it for a few moments and gives it back to Peter.
"Hm! Interesting! How did you get it so fast?" asks Tony with a smirk.
"An old... familly friend owns the shop I'm working at and helped me get the license. Working to get my piercing license maybe next year." Mr. Smith was an old friend of Uncle Ben. Peter would stay at his shop after school until Uncle Ben and Aunt May came back from work. After Uncle Ben death, he did his best to help Peter get his license and job faster.
Tony and Pepper nod and Peter lift the sleve from his left arm to show the tattoo beneath .
"This is the second tattoo I did by myself." the two adults lean foreword to get a better look.
"That looks very Mr.Parker! You deffinitily have a talent for it!" Ms. Potts compliment him and Mr. Stark gives him a smile and a nod, then pulls up his phone to look at something.
"You said this is your second tattoo that you did yourself, right? What was the first?" she asks and Peter cheeks heat up.
"O-oh! That one is a little silly... " he said looking away. Mr. Stark chuckle a little and looks up from his phone.
"If it's an Ironman helmet or ark reactor or my face, don't worry kid. I seen plenty of those." Peter cheeks become even redder and he looks down.
"It's worse..." Tony and Pepper exchange glances. Peter lifts up his left leg, so that the two adults can a turtleduck
Pepper coos and Tony chuckle again, looking back at his phone and moving behind Peters chair.
"As cute as this was, we need to get back to the serious matter." she now sound much more serious and Peter looks directily at her.
"You are a good student Mr. Parker. Good grades and all. But there are some thing that we need go over." she brings up a few notes from his teachers.
"Most, if not all of your teachers noted that you are allways tired in class. The bags under your eyes can be seen from a mile away! You allready have two other jobs and your job as a photographer is already pretty dangerous! Don't think I didn't notice the scrapes!" ok the scrapes were from his Spider-Man job, buuuut technically he also took pictures during that time.
"What can I say? Gotta do what needed to be done. My aunt and I have to work so that we don't get kicked out in the streets." he didn't want to pull that card, but he had too. He would be send to foster care if that happens and May would live at F.E.A.S.T. homeless center where she volunter at. He can't let that happen. He can't! But the way Ms. Potts looks away and bites her lip, tells him more then enought.
"I'm sorry Peter. As much as I want to be an intern on the PR team...." she closes the holografic projector and pushes forword his cv. "I can't at the moment aprove your application."
Peter looks down. Tears forming in his eyes. He failed. He will lose his and aunt May apartment. His shoulders start to shake.
"Oh sweetheart-" Pepper attempt to calm him down was cut short when Tony grabed Peter cv from the desk and looks through it. Both Pepper and Peter give him a confused look.
"Hired." was all that Tony said after a few moment.
"What." Peter and Pepper said at the same time.
"Pepper, meet my new personal intern Peter Benjamin Parker!" continue Tony.
"What?" Peter and Pepper said again.
"We need to talk with the kid aunt over a few thing, but I'm sure she would agree. Do you have a passaport?"
"WHAT?!" Peter and Pepper screamed.
Peter was looking away in disbelieve while Pepper got up from her chair to scold Tony. But Peter can't hear them, he was in shock. Working as Mr. Stark personal intern? That was too good to be true! But the moment of euphoria came to an end when the two adults got quiet. Peter looks up to see Ms. Potts looking away in shock and Mr.Stark showing no emotion as he looks at them with worry in his eyes.
"Is there something wrong?" he asks as he gets up from his chair. The two adults look at him then at eachother. Tony points at the door.
"Can you go ask Miss Parker if she can come over so that we can disscus this more? I will go over a few thing with the kid, ok?" she nods and leaves the office. Mr. Stark sighs and looks at Peter.
"Mr. Stark you have no ideea how much this means to me! Me and my aunt had been in a really bad spot for a while-" Peter starts to ramble, but Tony stops him.
"Ah ah! Me first!" he brings up his phone, showing Peter a hologram of himself or Spider-Man to be exact and he froze. Did Mr.Stark only hired him so that he can know more about Spider-Man?
"Thats you!" well shit. That wasn't good for Peter. He need to make a comeback quick!
"No..... I only took pictures of the guy...." naild it.
"Uh huh?" yep he wasn't convince.
"P-plus! I failing gym! No way a guy like me can pull that off! Right?" Mr. Stark doesn't look impressed and brings up a picture of Spider-Man expose left arm, tattoo showing, the exact one that Peter has too. Peter immediatily covers his arm.
"T-thats a very commom tattoo! I tattoo atleast ten people with the same design!" Mr. Stark then brings up the turtleduck tattoo and Peter takes a step back.
"Thats a coincidence..." Mr. Stark doesn't give up and shows Peter one last picture and young vigilante froze.
In the picture was the back of Spider-Man neck, with a tattoo of a spider going down it's web.
Peters hand went to his back of the neck, covering the identical tattoo. It was the first tattoo that Mr. Smith did on him after Uncle Ben death, as a reminder to the right thing.
"So you are Spiderling? Crime Fighting Spider? Spider-Boy?" asks Tony and the teenagers looks away.
"It's...it's Spider-Man.." Peter gives in, he can't hide it anymore.
"Not in that onesie, your not." Peter takes offens at that! Yes, his suit was only a pair of black leggings, a black top, red and black gloves, an oversize red hoodie with black sleeves and spider logo on the front and back, a red mask with big white eyes and red convers, but hey! He didn't have a millions dollars conmpany to make his suit! He did pretty well for himself!
"It's not an onesie! I worked hard on that!" Peter snaps at the genius, but Tony didn't even flinch.
"Didn't say you didn't! I like the design, not gonna lie! But it won't stop a bullet or keep you warm kid. I can tell that your powers don't come from the suit." he gesture towards Peter current fit and the teenages sighs. Peter puts his pinky finger on the chair he used to sit on and lift it with no problem as Tony looks at him with awe.
"How did this happen?" ask Tony.
"Radioactive spider bite." said Peter without missing a beat.
"Come on!" Tony looks at him like he was kidding, but the smile drops when Peter takes of the glove of his left hand and shows Tony the scars from the bite. Peter was thinking to cover them with a tattoo later on. Tony grabs his hand and inspects the scar, a serious look on his face.
"We are going to check on it later to make sure the are no other side effects. We don't want a Man-Spider loose in the city." the ideea of Peter becoming more spider then human scared him (foreshadowing). Tony let go of Peter hand and looks at the teenager right in the eyes.
"Why are you doing this? Why risk your life like this?"
Peter looks at Tony, then at the spider bite scar and put a hand on the back of his neck over the spider tattoo, closes his eyes and sighs.
"If you can do things like I do, but you don't and then bad things happen... they happen because of you..."
Peter looks away and continue.
"I could have save my uncle life, but I didn't... and now he is gone. I can't let that happen again Mr. Stark. I will not let anyone stop me. Not even you or Aunt May. I will fight for it."
Tony looks at Peter for a moment. The kid was clearly scared shitless right now. But he keep on a brave face, determined to keep his word. And Tony smiles.
"Ok kid. We will what we can do from here. I want to support you. Seeing you saving lifes left and right... it's something else. We, the Avengers, can't do it. It would be too dangerous. There are other vigilantes out there I know, but you are the city Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man! We need heros like you kid! You are also the youngest so far. Don't want to see full of leed from a bad guy in that suit." Tony starts moving towards the door.
"There are more thing to go over. Going to have to wait for the team and your aunt to arrive-" TWIP! Tonys hand was being held to the door by some kind of web. He look back at Peters outstreched hand from wich the web came out the web-shooters.
"Don't tell the rest of the Avengers or my aunt about my secret." threaten Peter, face full of fury. Tony looks at him. He knows that the kid could snap him in half if he wanted to. So Tony nods at Peter.
"Alright Spider-Man."
The two stood in silence for a moment. Tony decide to break it.
"Get me out of this thing."
"R-right! Sorry... let me get..." he gets the web disolving formula from his pocket and moving to free Tony from the web.
When Pepper ended her call with May Parker, Rhodey soon ran into her on the hallway, the duo talk for a bit and then decide to check on Peter and Tony. When they enter the office, they were shocked to see Peter standing at a 90 degree angle off the ground on the glass window, with Tony trying to push him foreword and the teenager not moving an inch.
"You are really stuck in place!" said Tony giving up on pushing Peter.
"Told you I can stick to anything!" said Peter excidet.
"Ok, now we really have to fine Bruce! I want to see if you can stick to the Hulk."
The duo laugh and slowly turn they attention towards Pepper and Rhodey. The room fell silent for a moment and Peter rises his hand.
"Hi there!"
"WHAT THE FU-"
