Pai leaned against his bike as several other races continued, his eyes not leaving Sky’s form as he watched next to Rain. His covetous gaze was obvious to many and just as many were smart enough to not challenge the rich and adored top racer of P'Pakin for either his attention or the object of said attention.
This group of intelligent individuals did not include Pai’s fellow racer, Petch.
“Hey,” Petch said as he nudged Pai with his elbow. “Watching the race or watching your boy?”
Pai frowned, but his gaze did not leave Sky’s form. “It can be both. Why? Should I not be watching one or the other?”
Petch shrugged. “Well, if it’s your boy, of course you gotta admire him. If it’s the race, your boy might just be a perk. If it’s both…” Pai carefully tilted his head. A smarter person would have realized a line was being crossed. Petch was not that kind of person and so he pressed on. “If it’s both, perhaps I can interest you in a wager for our race tonight?”
Sky had turned around to look at Pai and Pai raised an eyebrow and jerked his head. Sky frowned and nodded before walking off. “What kind of wager?”
“Well, maybe you’d be interested in letting some of us see just what’s so amazing about your boy…”
Pai’s expression turned cold and still as he turned to face Petch. “Oh?”
“Just one night is all I’d ask for. Some of the guys say your boy made you moan like a bitch.”
“And you think you can get me to agree to that?”
“It’s just a wager,” Petch said casually. “You’re top racer, it’s not like I’d win that easily. Give me a chance to hope, you know?”
Pai finally frowned and glared at Petch in the face. “No. I don’t know. And you will definitely never know.” Pai began to stalk forward and Petch’s self preservation instincts finally realized the situation he’d talked himself into. “My Sky is not something to be wagered or won.” Petch walked backwards as Pai pressed forward. “And you are definitely going to learn that the hard way.” Petch took one more step backwards into the hands of several men. Upon realizing the men were not Pakin’s security crew, Petch paled. “So I heard you wanted to know if Sky could make you moan like a bitch. I’m afraid Sky isn’t into that, but my friends here will make sure you’re in good hands.”
“Wait! Please I didn’t-”
“You did.” Pai’s eyes were dark with fury. “But you won’t again. Ever.”
Pai watched as his men carried Petch off before Sky leaned into Pai’s side. “P'Pai, don’t go overboard,” Sky cautioned. “P'Pakin will be mad if you take things too far into your own hands.”
“My Sky, are you worried about me?” Pai tipped Sky’s chin up. “Don’t worry, these men will have a bit of fun and hand Petch over to P'Pakin’s men. No harm, no foul.”
“Who should ever be worried about a giant with as thick a face as yours,” Sky said in a huff, but there was no denying the slight shake in Sky’s shoulders. Pai immediately put an arm around Sky and pulled him in closer.
“My thick face is good for helping me keep my baby safe, it means I’m not afraid to do whatever I need to to take out the trash.” Pai nuzzled the side of Sky’s face and Sky rolled his eyes, but Pai could feel his breathing even out. “And I’m never letting anyone you don’t want touch you.”
“P'Pai…”
“It’s true, it’s true, Little Pai is the only one you’ll ever need.”
“You did it. You ruined the mood,” Sky announced, but he did not leave Pai’s arms. “I am no longer impressed.”
“I got something right here that will definitely impress you…”
“UGH!” Sky finally removed himself from Pai’s embrace and stomped off back to Rain’s side to watch the race, but there was no mistaking the smile on his face.
Pai pat himself on the back mentally and resumed his watching of both the race and Sky, but mentally made a note to glare at everyone else in ten minute intervals just so everyone else would get the correct idea that Sky was off limits.
