Work Text:

Maybe Krel had a type.

First it was Seamus, who he spent the whole summer in a virtual relationship with, since he was away at space camp. They communicated through text and video chat, which Krel really enjoyed. But when Seamus returned and Krel remained in Arcadia, their in-person dates made them realize they worked better as friends.

Next was Steve. Despite Krel’s outward disgust of his and Aja’s relationship, he found himself wishing for Steve’s devotion and adoration, and found the Palchuk’s company enjoyable. However, he would never do anything to hurt Aja, including stealing her boyfriend, so he let his feelings go.

Now, however, his core landed on the last member of the jock squad: Logan. Ever since the Arcane Order’s attack on Arcadia, all the separate cliques congealed into one giant friend group. Listed out, that included Krel, Aja, Darci, Mary, Claire, Jim, Toby, Eli, Steve, Seamus, Logan, Shannon, and Connie. And because of their connection through Steve and Seamus, Krel got to know Logan.

Apparently, Logan had learned to play the piano, and though he dropped it in favor of football, he still plinked out occasional tunes. Once Krel got his own guitar after returning Shannon’s, the two would meet at Logans house to play duets.

Krel also learned that Logan’s favorite subject was history. This worked out perfectly, since Krel knew next to nothing about Earth’s history. Logan helped him study in exchange for Krel’s help in mathematics.

Finally, once the whole group became friends, Logan dropped the jerk persona. He openly greeted Krel and the rest of their friends in the hallways at school, even inviting them to parties when other classmates tried to exclude them. Like Steve and Seamus, Logan took the time to become a better person and apologized to those he bullied in the past.

One day, Krel overheard Logan’s excitement about a new movie called Power Rangers. So here Krel sat, phone in hand, reading over his drafted text to Logan, asking if he’d like to go to see the movie. Just the two of them.

His palms sweat, a gross side effect of being a part-time human, as his finger hovered over the send button. Though he wanted to be clear that it would be just the two of them, he didn’t want to call it a date just yet. He wanted to see how the night went, how comfortable he and Logan were together, and then ask him in person.

Before he worked up the courage to hit send, a message appeared from Logan. It said, Want to go see a movie together sometime?

With a silent laugh, Krel deleted his draft and replied, Sure. How about Power Rangers?
