Kanou would never have thought that he would have to face this face to face and that the theoretical case would have to be applied in practice. Demons had not been heard of for about two centuries, and everyone who studied the basics of the Inquisition knew that it did not make sense. There are no otherworldly forces — there is no demand for a medieval profession. So they said and also acted.
But Kanou clearly saw something inhuman in front of him: a long tongue almost reached his forehead, horror mixed with lust was reflected in his eyes, and on his head, between bright blue, literally cornflower-blue hair, small horns were visible to match the strands. Kanou knew about all kinds of demons, but this one was unique.
"You look at me as if for the first time you see people like me", a strange slightly lisping voice enveloped consciousness, but Soutarou is well aware of the subtleties of conducting a dialogue with a real demon. Everyone laughed at him at school, they say, you remember everything like that, as if you were preparing for a meeting with horned ungulates; they are extinct, Kanou, why the hell study?
But the dark-haired man never cheated on himself, so all the other inquisitors fled, flashing only their heels and fear inside their little hearts, and Soutarou looked the demon straight in the eyes, not showing weakness in front of him.
"We were told that you were extinct", Kanou shrugged and said, as explained to them. And this made the blue-haired man laugh so much that he almost doubled over with emotion. These people are funny, oh, funny.
"Us too", his expression changed dramatically, causing a herd of goosebumps to run down the inquisitor's back, because he perfectly understood what this dialogue was about. Everyone in the demon world knew that as long as people live, there is an otherworldly force, because human souls are greedy, sinful and dirty. In other words: one species existed while the other lived. Therefore, it was stupid to think that the demons had disappeared — it's like the myth of the three turtles that hold our Land.
"Mmm, Yukimura, you've already found us food", another one appeared from behind the blue-haired demon; he had snow-white hair, red horns and a curved tail. He was lower in rank, so the aforementioned Yukimura shushed him and somehow looked at him angrily.
"Usui, maybe it's time for you to shut up?"
"Maybe it's time, who knows?" He grinned and disappeared, leaving Yukimura and Kanou alone.
Soutarou continued to watch the demon, clearly building a plan in his head — only it's not clear which of them will be applicable to the devilish creature. "By the way, I can read thoughts", Shouichirou noted casually, coming closer to his victim.
The sky was thickening above them; many people now realized for sure that an otherworldly force had been released and had come into their world again. Sometimes people even missed all this, as if jokingly saying that there were certainly not enough demons in their lives.
"I know", Soutarou replied calmly and grinned.
There was a feeling that these two were conducting an invisible confrontation, although the hateful chemistry was flying in the air. "You've spent several thousand years in your world, and now you're showing off in front of me here?"
Yukimura bit his long tongue, clearly not expecting such impudence of a simple man. But it was interesting for those. "A wit?"
When Kanou smiled, his eyes turned into half moons, making his face even more charming. You can't be so nice and dangerous to an inquisitor at the same time. "The longer I delay, the more opportunities I have".
"Oh, so you're also a fool?" Shouichirou giggled funny and settled down on someone else's couch.
If he's here for a long time, then it's time to take a comfortable pose and expect what this little man will throw out. He's like some kind of magician.
