Amanda sped down the freeway. She's on her way home for the first time in a good while. As much as she's enjoying her time at college, she really misses her dad and she's needs to tell him about all her wonderful experiences that she's been having. One thing she's looking forward to most is introducing him to her amazing girlfriend, who is actually sat in the seat next to her. As the minutes grow in number and they day gets older, Amanda and Claudia decide to take a small rest at a gas station the happened upon and restock on snacks before heading back on the road. And as they grow closer to the quaint town of Maple Bay, Amanda realises she should warn Claudia about a few things.
"So, a little warning and things to know before we arrive"
Claudia looked at Amanda quizzically.
"Yeah...?"
"My dad can be a little much. I mean- he does mean well, but he can and will go a little overboard and be very overbearing at times. He also has the the terrible dad humor."
Claudia stifles a snicker
"Yeah, dads are just kinda like that"
Amanda giggled a the comment
"Hehe, yeah- also, we will hanging around my dad's boyfriend's kid a bit, so if you see me hanging around a random kid, that's why"
"All good"
After that, it only takes an other hour until the two women arrive at that iconic cul-de-sac. It feels... nostalgic? Either way Amanda had made it home safe. She makes her way to the front door to the house. She pauses for a second- then knocks on the door. Then Mr. Stevens, himself opens the door...
"MANDA!"
"Hey, dad"
Amanda get brought in for a hug. A hug of which, she's not opposed to in the slightest.
"So how's college going?"
"It's college, been having fun, though"
"And, who is this mysterious being that's standing behind you awkwardly?"
Amanda turns slightly to see Claudia behind her.
"O-oh- uh- this my um- Pops, I would like to introduce you to my girlfriend"
"Hello, sir I'm Claudia"
"Oh- well, hello! I'm Amanda's dad, Patrick- wait Amanda you like girls?"
"Well yeah, I am bi"
"Very cool, Amanda, good for you and a support you whole-heartedly. Anyway, both of you come in its cold"
They enter the house with their belongings and settle in for the night. Patrick puts on TV, where they watching re-runs of Paranormal Ice-Truckers as they fall further into the night.
And just like that winter break has officially began and Amanda is just happy to spend it with her favorite people.
