Chapter Text

Today was a day like no other at Vile academy, Tigress was arguing with Paperstar- as Le Chèvre and El Topo were doing their own thing calmly.

All the interesting people seemed busy, and it was perfect for the ginger haired man hiding in the corner.

Mime Bomb, the quiet weird boy, was positioned in the darkest part of the room. Gathering any information he could, just by sitting there.

Of course, all the drama never affected him. He was in the shadows, like a ghost. His face was caked with pasty white makeup, so calling him a ghost would be pretty fitting.

The chatter died down, and Mime Bomb turned on his heel swiftly, determining that there was no secrets worth listening to at this very moment.

He made his way to the cafeteria, a place he wasn't neccessarily fond of. Eyes followed him as he walked to the furthest table.

He snatched some food from trays as he passed people, "it's the life of a thief" he supposed.

He sat down with the food he had stolen, letting out a silent sigh. Everyday was the same for the mime. Sit, listen, tattle, eat, sleep, repeat.

He ate alone, in this seat, every single day. The boy yearned for something... new. As if his prayers were answered, someone sat next to him. Although the prayers were answered by Satan. Across from the mime sat a tall pale man, he had oily black hair and sharp buck teeth.

Neal the eel. Mime's least favourite co-worker.

Mime looked up from his food, and brought up a hand- making a "shoo" motion. "Well that's no way to greet me, ay mate!" Neal spoke, his New Zealand accent slipping into every word.

Mime liked his accent, he hated the words that came out of the eels mouth, however. The mime rolled his eyes, and started to mime something out. "Uhh, Batman? No that's not it... Uhm, look I'm no good at these charade things bruv." Neal tried guessing.

Mime let out an over dramatic silent sigh. "Do you know sign language?" He signed.

"Oh! I didn't know you watched anime, I'm a fan of Naruto too." Neal exclaimed.

Mime went wide eyed at this man's stupidity. He face palmed and went back to miming.

"Bars..? Jail!" Mime nodded at Neal's guess, "Okay what about jail?"

"You... in... jail...?" He spoke, spacing out each word in a questioning tone.

"Shouldn't you be in jail?" He finally guessed. "Well yes, after you abandoned me on that speed boat- not a very cheery time, by the way." Neal scoffed.

Mime mocked him in his usual silence. "How did you not get captured? You're a mime, it would be easy to find you.." The Eel asked, looking at mime expectantly with a hint of sarcasm.

Mime held up a gloved hand and hovered it back and forth across his face, "No makeup? Ah, the canal must've wiped it away" he gleamed. Proud of his answer.

Mime stood up and threw out the rest of his food. He didn't expect to be talking with his former heist partner. Unfortunately the eel followed Mime Bomb, writhing his way through crowds.

Mime bomb spun around to "tell" Neal to go away, but suddenly the PA system started to blare.

"Mime Bomb and Neal The eel report to the faculty room" a voice spoke, it was choppy. "They need better mics", the mime thought.

Mime and Neal shared a glance, nodded, and then raced to the faculty room.

"Ello!" Neal greeted the teachers as they were sitting around their usual table. They looked at him, then to Dr. Bellum without a word.

"We have you two here today, for another heist" Dr. Bellum started to speak. "it should be enough to redeem y'all's last failure." Coach Brunt butted in. Dr. Bellum looked over to the coach, and began pestering her about being a tad bit less harsh.

"Ladies please, let us just explain to them what they need to do" professor Maelstrom sighed as he looked at the now arguing women. He turned to the two boys and smiled chillingly.

"You two will be travelling to Ireland" professor Maelstrom explained, making Mime Bomb cringe.

He started to wave his arms around wildly, freaking out.

"Waves? Panic? Uhhhh..." Neal muttered, trying to decipher the bullshit Mime was acting out.

"Mime Bomb, it seems you do not wish to go to Ireland." Dr. Bellum pointed out, receiving a rushed nod from the Mime.

"I see, I assume personal issues?" Dr. Bellum continued. "Well too bad!" Coach Brunt interrupted, "you two have to do this. Y'all will be retrieving a necklace worth more than your lives put together."

"Honestly that would make it pretty worthless, we aren't worth much" Mime signed with one of his iconic silent chuckles.

"You do have a point, clown." Brunt laughed, "however, y'all still have to do this. The necklace is located in the Reagan family vaults."

That name made the Mime go into an uncomfortable silence. "Alright, we are on it" Neal chimed in.

"You'll leave tonight. Go pack." Countess Cleo practically ordered. Neal nodded and grabbed the mime by the back of his shirt, dragging him to the dorms. As he was getting dragged, the mime never tried to wriggle away from the eels grasp.

As they entered the dorms, Mime just sighed and sat on his bed, head in hands.

"Something wrong mate?" Neal asked as he started to pack his things into a bag. Mime made a "so so" motion with his hand.

Mime shook his head to clear his thoughts and started to pack.

Ireland was so far away, but seemingly so close. Since they were already packed (for any pop-up missions like this one), Neal decided to ramble on about how he can't wait to see Ireland.

Mime Bomb, however, was too troubled with his own thoughts to hear what Neal was mumbling about.

"So! How do you suppose we break into this house!" Neal exclaimed, practically giddy at the chance to redeem himself.

Mime put his hands to his face almost like a prayer, and then widened his arms to their full extent. "Huh? Oh! The house is really big?" Neal questioned. Mime nodded in response and pantomimed some sort of necklace.

"Hmmm oh! A medal!" Neal exclaimed, Mime just smiled and put the invisible medal around his neck. He gave Neal a thumbs up and then left the room.

Things really do go by quickly. Mime Bomb and Neal found themselves boarding a helicopter.

It was a silent flight, the cleaners don't talk much, so Mime was forced to listen to Neal ramble. But after a while the eel had ran out of topics to speak about.

As they landed in Ireland, Mime got a shiver down his spine. He didn't want to be here anymore.

He shrugged and turned around to go back to the helicopter, he would've escaped if it weren't for Neal grabbing him and dragging him off.

"Oi, maybe we can get some food- soup is like, a big thing here right?" Neal spoke, looking off into the distance as if fantasizing about the food.

"No response, you know- you're really difficult to work with when you don't talk. You're dedicated I'll tell you that." Neal shrugged, dragging the mime elsewhere.

The mime pulled at the fabric of Neal's strange tourist shirt, "what? What is it?" He grumbled, fixing his collar.

Mime pointed in the other direction and drew a house in the air. "The house is that way?" Neal asked, Mime replied with another thumbs up.

Now it was the red-heads turn to drag the tall man across the plaza. "Woah, slow your role there bruv-" Neal shouted as Mime broke into a sprint.

Shiny gates greeted them as Mime skidded to a stop. "Jesus, how much stamina do you have" Neal panted. "Oh woah-" he marvelled , looking up at the mansion in front of him. Mime Bomb pointed to it, and hit a fisted hand into his palm. "That's our target?" Neal mumbled, earning a smile from Mime Bomb. "I think I'm getting better at this charade thing Mimey" he beamed.

Mime Bomb rolled his eyes, and shifted his attention away from his co-worker, looking up at the big windows of the building in front of them.

He mouthed something to himself, and then started dragging Neal again. Neal stopped himself and escaped Mime's grasp. "No more draggin' me around mate" he huffed, fixing his sleeve.

The mime turned and walked, the eel following behind him. Mime Bomb stopped in his tracks at the entrance of a fancy hotel. Then gestured for Neal to go first.

"You sure this our hotel? Doesn't seem like something Vile would pay for..." Neal spoke skeptically. Mime smiled, Neal walked in and just stood there, astounded at the interior.

Mime went up to the counter and slipped the receptionist a card, she smiled at him and gave him a keycard.

"No seriously mate, who is paying for this-" Neal asked, still astounded at the hotel lobby.

As they entered the room, Neal started to feel oddly uncomfortable around the silent man. He hasn't answered his question from earlier, not even a single mime-message.

"So..." Neal started awkwardly, looking around the room a bit more. It was fancy and probably cost a lot. It was showy and upfront, not Vile's style.

He looked around even more, soaking in every detail. "Wait... this hotel is owned by our target- Vincent Regan." Neal stated in disbelief.

"Seriously who the fuck is paying for this!" He shouted, turning to the painted faced man who was simply packing away their things.

Mime looked over to Neal, and smiled- he then brought a hand up and gestured to himself. Signifying that he himself was paying for this.

He mimed out a hat and a coat, he brought the coat to his face like Batman does with his cape. He then dropped the invisible coat and brought up binoculars.

"Carmen Sandiego..? Oh! She's looking for us?"

Let's just say, Neal is not good at charades.

"Ohhhh she won't find us here in a place like this! Smart thinking Mimey!" Neal complimented, wrapping an arm around Mime's shoulder. Loosely hanging off of the red-head.

The mime pushed the taller man away from him, and went back to packing away stuff.

"Y'know, there's no point in packing away- we'll be here for three days and then, boom, we're outta here" Neal said, looking over to the man folding his clothes.

He shrugged and continued putting stuff away.

"Well, we should scout the area around night time. Make sure there no Red Snappers lurking around the lake, if ya know what I mean" Neal smiled, adding a wink. Mime nodded in reply.

It was settled, the two boys were to scout the estate to make sure it is clear and to spot escape routes. Mime already had a few ideas, but he wondered how working with Neal will play out...
