Work Text:
Betty tries so hard to crack his shell. Bruce wants to let her in; he wants her to find what she’s looking for.
The wall still dividing him from everyone stands tall and looming. It has existed long before he could remember. It has stood between him and everyone in his life: Mom, friends, colleagues, girlfriends.
He sits on top of the watchtower, back facing what lies on the other side.
And, there is something beyond it, he knows, but what is it? Shrouded in shadow, the mystery remains to be told.
If anyone could uncover it, it’d be Betty.
But, Bruce has never consciously avoided this hole in his life, and therein lies the catch.
Not even he knows what lurks beyond the wall.
