Chocolate bunny

Summary:

With Bakugou gone on an internship with best Jeanist, Eiji is left alone to his own devices.

To try and distract himself he decides to raid the dorm’s shared sweets cabinet but… is that a white bunny in their kitchen pulling a bag of chocolate behind itself?!

Eiji can’t believe his eyes!

Notes:

No warnings for this one! (I think…)

I finally included Koji tho! I’m so proud of myself XD

This is basically just regressed Eiji shenanigans.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Eiji was so tired.

He sighed as he looked at the black, stupid screen of his stupid phone in his stupid room.

Why hasn’t Katsu send him anything till now?! A tragedy, truly. How dare he?! But then again Eiji was just frustrated and tired and Katsu had lots of work to do on his internship with best jeanist.

The regressed boy sighed dramatically once more as he let himself fall head first into his bed.

He didn’t want to go to Mina or Sero to babysit him! He wasn’t feeling that tiny! And Denks was out somewhere with someone but Eiji didn’t remember with who. He only remembered that he shouldn’t disturb.

Also, he didn’t need a babysitter! He needed Katsu!

Or a playmate.

Not one of those adults! He pouted as he pulled his teddy bear Snow into his arms.

Yeah, Mina was also lots of fun but she… it just wasn’t what Eiji wanted, or rather needed right now. Same with Sero.

His phone vibrated and he jumped up to look at the screen. Katsu finally texted!!!

-> ‘Hey, couldn’t answer. Best Jeanist is being a dick. Gotta go. I’ll call you later.’

Eiji’s pout deepened. ‘Later’. When was ‘later’?! He huffed and fell back down onto the soft sheets and pillow.

“Katsu has to do adulty stuff Snow.”, he told the white teddy.
“I know. Mean. Mhhhhh but we can have lots of fun on our own! Mhhhhhh we can…”, he looked around the room from where he was still laying.

“I could read you a story! Erm… no… Katsu reads way better… I don’t wanna color because if I accidental color you that would be bad! But… we caaaaaannnnn… Ah!”, he jumped up again.

A mischievous smile creeping onto his face. That’s it! It’s perfect! Something he hasn’t thought about till now and actually isn’t allowed to do when Katsu is there but that would he perfectly good to do alone!

Rob the sweets cabinet of their dorm kitchen!

Now, Eiji was a good kid mind you! It was just that Katsu was restricting his sugar intake a little. Not by a lot. He was still allowed to eat sweets but that amount was in no way enough!!! In Eijis mind at least… right now at least… actually it wasn’t a problem before… or ever…

Anyways.

He quickly rushed to the shared dorm kitchen. Boredom making the euphoria oh so much sweeter as he gained speed. One of his hands tightly gripping Snow’s paw and the other reaching out to avoid bumping into corners.

He had just rounded the last corner and taken direction of the cabinet when he stopped abruptly in his movements, almost tripping over his own feet.

His eyes widened in amazement as he spotted a little white rabbit pulling a bag of chocolate behind itself. The bag seemed a little too heavy for it and it was struggling.

Eiji could swear he saw little beats of sweat on its forehead as it squeezed its eyes shut from exertion and without thinking he scooped it up from the ground.

“Hi!”, he held the bunny up but it started kicking so he had to let it back down. (He definitely didn’t flinch because the bunny scared him). Maybe bunnies don’t like getting picked up? He didn’t know, he hadn’t really had any interactions with bunnies except for- oh!

“Are you Koji’s bunbun?”, he asked but the bunny was back to pulling the chocolate.

“No no no! Chocolate isn’t good for bunnies!… I think… you can’t eat that!”, but the white ball of fluff didn’t listen to him and just continued on his task.

Weird little thing, Eiji thought.

But maybe it doesn’t even want to eat the sweets? But what else could it want with them then? Eiji looked over to his teddy. Sadly Snow didn’t answer him.

Meanie.

He pouted.

“Mhhhh I can help you! I’ll be a really strong hero an I can help people really good! … and bunnies! You just have to show me to where!”, as if it understood him the bunny stopped, letting go of the bag and looking at him expectantly. Eiji blinked.

Was he magical?!

He giggled softly to himself. He had to tell Katsu about this! This was sooo cool!

Carefully he grabbed the bag of chocolate up from the ground and as soon as he held it securely, the bunny started sprinting off into the hallway.

“Hey! Wait!”, but it only got faster and Eiji almost tripped multiple times while trying to follow.

Eventually though the white fluff stopped in front of a door and started scratching on the wood. Curiously Eiji looked around while holding his hand onto his chest right over his pounding heart. Then the door got opened, startling the boy a bit.

Eiji was still trying to catch his breath, face probably as red as a tomato as his tongue stuck out while he panted.

Slowly he directed his eyes towards the person now in front of him. Sure enough, that was a startled looking Koji. Both just stared at each other for what felt like years. But while Eiji was smiling brightly, the other boy was just fidgeting more and more, his cheeks slightly red.

Eiji blinked.

“Hi Koji! Your bunbun wanted to bring the chocolate bu it was too heavy for him so I carried it!”, he held out his hands with the little bag and the bunny just jumped past him into the room.

Koji seemed conflicted for a short second, his hands going up to do something but Eiji was only half paying attention as he waited for a reply.

It just dawned on him what exactly Koji had been doing when the other boy squeaked out a barely there “thanks”.

“Oh! No! Sorry! You can sign! It’s okay! I learned a lot you know! I studied soooo much because Katsu is-", he stopped himself. Was he allowed to say that? It was no secret anymore but…

But Eiji couldn’t continue the thought as Koji gave him a nervous smile.

Oh oh! He signed! AND Eiji knew that one! He knew it really well and he could even sign that himself! A ‘thank you’! Yay! The redhead was so proud of himself!

But the other still hadn’t taken the bag of chocolate from Eiji…

“You wanted this, right? Take!”, he held it up towards the others face again. Koji took another startled step back. His eyes were quickly looking from Eiji towards the chocolate and back. Still silence. Usually Koji would be shy but not this shy. Eiji tilted his head.

“Do you like chocolate?”, the other nodded and Eiji beamed at him.

“Can we share? I wanted chocolate as well!”

‘Sorry.’, the other signed.

“You didn’t take it away from me! Don’t worry!”, the kid panicked a little. He didn’t want to make Koji uncomfortable!

“If you don’t want to share that’s fine! I can get something else!”, the mischievous smile creeped back onto his face. Before he continued, he looked around the hallway, making sure no one was there to hear.

Then he whispered: “Because no one is there to stop me, so I can have lots and no one can be mean about it!”, he giggled but stopped himself as a big thought made it’s way into the back of his head.

That was weird. Koji probably thinks that was weird. You should have given him the chocolates and ran. You aren’t helping anyone right now…

It had almost just been enough to make his mood turn. To rip him out of his headspace but then he heard a giggle from the door. Koji laughed! Or well, giggled. Eiji blinked. Did that mean he didn’t think that that was weird?

‘I thought the same’, the other signed and the redhead broke back out into smiles and giggles as well. That’s right, Koji was nice. Shy but nice. If anything Eiji probably just shocked him a little.

The next thing he knew was that Koji was motioning for the redhead to come inside and Eiji willingly took the opportunity to get closer to the other. It wasn’t every day he got to be invited into the others room! He needed to cherish this moment!

But, he reminded himself, he also needed to be a really really nice boy because this was entirely spontaneous and Koji usually avoided that. So no more shocking him! Eiji isn’t Denks! He giggled at his own little play of words as he let himself fall onto the ground in the middle of the room.

Koji followed and sat down next to him. The movement was a little stiff but soon the bunny jumped onto Koji’s lap and he relaxed a little.

“Your bunbun is so cute!”, Eiji whispered. The room was so quiet, it felt out of place to talk loudly. Katsu would be proud of him!

Koji only slightly turned to him, his eyes turning into half moons as he also smiled. His hands seemingly too preoccupied by petting the bunny.

“Can I pet too?”

Koji nodded and soon Eiji’s fingers gently landed in the bunny’s fur. It was so soft! His eyes opening wider in surprise. Sure, it had looked fluffy but it was… he couldn’t even describe the kind of fireworks going up in his own brain as he touched it. His teddy bear could never.

He apologetically looked next to himself and onto Snow. Sure, Snow had a fuzzy white fur but… well… it just couldn’t compare! Sorry Snow.

He prompted to burying his hands in the fur for a good who-knows minutes until he remembered the chocolates again. He expectantly looked at the other.

“Choco?”, he asked. He suddenly wasn’t feeling all too big anymore but hoped it wasn’t that obvious. Koji only smiled softly at him and nodded. He gently lifted the bunny from his lap, placing it on the carpet and took the bag of chocolates.

“Here.”, he whispered, putting one piece in front of Eiji and the redhead excitedly took it.

“Thank u!”, he quickly unwrapped it to stuff it into his mouth. The sweetness was instantly there and filled his whole mouth. Eiji loved chocolate! He expectantly looked at Koji again when he had cleared his mouth and another chocolate was placed in front of him.

Again Eiji looked at Koji with puppy dog eyes after it was gone and the other huffed out a soft laugh before giving another. This time, when Eiji took it, the other pet his red hair and Eiji leaned into the touch.

Sadly it didn’t last long because the hand was removed almost as if in a panic. Eiji looked up to find Koji blushing wildly, holding his hand as if he wanted to reprimand himself. The redhead stared with wide eyes. Did he remind Koji of an animal he was feeding? Like a cat or dog? That was kinda cute, Eiji decided. He liked dogs. And bunnies. And if that was a way for Koji to loosen up a bit, so be it.

“It’s oke. Liked it!”, he reassured the other.

Somehow this was like a play date. Eiji really liked this! It was silent. Not like when he had play dates with Denks or playing with Mina or Sero. But it was nice. Just eating chocolates together and watching the bunny eat a lettuce leave that was laying there for it.

Eventually Eiji’s eyes drifted over the rest of the room and got caught on Koji’s bed.

Plushies.

So many plushies!

How could Eiji forget that Koji loved cute stuff? Those stuffies were adorable. Eiji had the sudden urge to ask for names but had a hunch that Koji wasn’t in a talking mood right now.

Those plushies looked really cuddly tho…

Eiji suddenly remembered how tired he actually was and yawned. Koji smiled at him and with a hushed voice asked: “Nap time?”, and Eiji nodded.

Sleepily he pushed himself up into a standing position. If Katsu were here now Eiji would have made grabby hands for the other to carry him but he had enough self awareness to remember that Katsu wasn’t here.

Right… he’d be alone tonight.

Eiji hadn’t even realized his smile had dropped into a pout until Koji looked at him with sympathy and fidgeted a little as if he was rolling a thought around in his head that was conflicting.

‘Sleep here?’ He signed and Eiji almost let his yaw drop. He looked from Koji towards his bed full of soft plushies and back until he nodded.

A few minutes later the other had laid out a makeshift bed for Eiji with one of his softest blankets and the redhead looked at it almost teary eyed. Koji was so nice! He made a mental note to beg Katsu to bake him something when he came back. He’d use his puppy dog eyes, Katsu couldn’t possibly say no!

The rest of the evening went by just as quiet as before. Barely words spoken, barely even eye contact held but it was weirdly comforting for Eiji. It made him a little less sad about his carer not being here.

And that’s how he fell asleep, hugging Snow and one of Koji’s stuffies the other had lend him as well.

He should visit Koji more often to eat chocolate with him!
