Work Text:
brenda hummed as she sat at her vanity, taking off her makeup. the house felt empty without david there, and her parents were at work. she’d been home alone a lot recently, she noticed.
her humming came to a hault when she heard talking outside her window. she assumed it was david, but another voice responded to his. and of course, in her brenda way, her curiosity got the better of her. brenda walked over to her window, and moved her curtain.
there in her driveway was david and exer, both smiling like dorks. david pulled exer into a tight-looking hug, and brenda wondered silently if they had just made up from another fight she didn’t know about. she was just about to go ask them if they were okay, but something made her stop. as exer and david fell out of their hug, exer pressed forward and kissed david.
brenda’s mouth fell open as david, enthusiastically, returned the kiss and put his hands on exer’s hips. no fucking way. suddenly, something clicked in her head. they had been acting strange around her recently, and whenever david came home from exer’s house, his face was all red. oh my god, they were in love ! david and exer broke apart and exer gave david a kiss on the cheek. david smiled dorkishly and walked to the house, and brenda heard the door slam.
she raced downstairs, stopping at the end of the stairs with her arms crossed. “where were you ?” she questioned, raising one eyebrow. “what ? uh— i was, um, with exer,” he stuttered, clearly looking nervous. “yeah ? i saw you guys in the driveway, you know,” she chided, a small smile appearing on her face. david’s face dropped, and he looked absolutely mortified. “what ??? oh jesus, brenda, please don’t tell dad and mom and— wait, are you even okay with me— oh jesus christ,” he spiraled, teeth gritted. brenda walked over to him, a look of sympathy appearing on her face. “david, dude, calm down. you like him ?” she asked. he nodded, looking extremely worried. “then date him. i don’t care who you like david, you’re my brother. i love you no matter what,” she said in a low voice, pulling david into a hug.
she could hear the smile in his voice when he said, “thank you, brenda. i love you too.” brenda smiled in turn, feeling good enough to say it. “i’m pretty sure i have the biggest crush on pamela, just so you know.” david gasped very dramatically, and pulled back from their hug. he put his hands on her shoulders. “really ?? awe, brenda, that’s great !!” he exclaimed. “i love you no matter what, by the way,” he added. brenda rolled her eyes.
“i know, i know. i love you too, dork.”
