Isn't it lovely?
The atmosphere, the music, and even the sweet aroma that fills the air as you take a sip of that steaming hot cup of liquid gold. Luigi sighed, standing behind the same counter that he's been attending for the past couple hours. It was a slow day for the cafe, probably the slowest it's been all week. All he could do was wait, and hope for his shift to end.
Ding
Luigi's gaze went from a depressing view towards the ground, to jolting up to the sound of the door jingle. Finally.
His excitement soon faded as none other than King Koopa himself walks in, from what felt like was joy, turned to fear.
"Oh mama mia!" He shouted before ducking under the counter. All he could hear was thundering footsteps, making it's way to the counter, at which the small man in green used to attend. He can't be after the princess, can he??
"GRAAAAAAAH" Bowser groans, stretching a bit before taking a peak over the counter. "What the..."
Almost immediately, Luigi jumps up in fear, trying his best to seem calm and collected (which wasn't very convincing). Despite being intimidated by the deep rumble tone of the monster's voice, he still tried to formulate a sentence.
"Wh-What are y-you doing here??" The man in green shivers, barely even keeping his uniform hat on his head. Out of all the people in the Mushroom Kingdom, King Koopa was the last person he'd expect. Bowser lets out a small blush, but hides it with his hand before grunting.
"I wan't a coffee..." He starts off, pausing and thinking to himself a bit before continuing on with his order, "with extra milk and sugar." A bit surprised by the king's request, Luigi fumbles a bit to straighten himself back up (no pun intended) to start the unexpected order.
"Got it! O-On my way!" The green man managed to squeeze out, more refined than his previous attempts. Luigi wasn't sure why, but he felt confused about King Bowser. He knew he was the bad guy, but never did he expect him to be so... Gentle?
As per Bowser's request, Luigi managed to flawlessly make his order, even while a little shaken up by the king's intensity. He peaked over to Bowser, whom had already taken a seat in the corner. He seemed to have already been lost in a little book of some sort.
Luigi takes a platter with the cup of coffee on it, and approaches towards the table Bowser had chosen. He places it down in front of him, which grabs the attention of the supposed 'bad guy' from his little book. He looks up towards the plumber and lets off an intense, but thankful smile, in which Luigi let out a relieved sigh.
"Who knew the coffee here would be as sweet at the waiter!" Bowser chuckles, leaving Luigi flustered and off guard.
D-Did he really say that??
Bowser notices his reaction, and blushes a little himself as well, before immediately going back into his book.
Ah. Luigi's heart skips a beat or two, trying to comprehend the situation.
He's the enemy, he's the bad guy, I've fought him, Mario and I, WE have fought him.
Bowser looks up and notices Luigi, standing there anxiously while fidgeting with his hands.
"Are you alright?" The king's voice softly roars, somehow putting Luigi more at ease and drawing his attention. Bowser continued on, "Do you want to sit with me?"
Luigi flustered a bit, looking at him. Oh god. Luigi's mind stopped racing, and for once, takes in Bowser's intense, yet innocent glare. He smiles a bit, blushing yet again.
"I... I would Like that." He sits down with the surprisingly gentle giant, looking at him as Bowser takes in a sip of his coffee. Luigi hasn't felt love much. Even his own brother doesn't talk to him all that often. Even though Bowser is his enemy, he genuinely seems like he's the first person in a long while to show him compassion. Luigi looks up at him, looking into his eyes once more, feeling the intensity of his stare. Even then, it made him feel safe; Luigi felt seen for once.
"Thank you, by the way," Bowser lets out. Even in a raspy voice, it's oddly soothing to hear. Luigi perks up hearing those words. "Thank you". He tries to remember all of the times he was ever told that, and yet, he's drawn a blank. Well, besides the sarcastic ones that his brother makes makes from time to time.
"No problem! I, uh... I'm not used to hearing that."
"You mean 'Thank you'??"
"Yeah, but it's no big deal!"
"No big deal???"
A moment of silence falls over the two. Bowser couldn't even begin to comprehend why people would do Luigi like that. Treat him wrongly.
"You're coming with me." Bowser remarks, taking the last sip of his coffee.
"W-With you??" Luigi looks up at the man in front of him, blushing.
"To my castle! We have some great friends I want you to meet, including my seven children!" Bowser tenderly says with a smile. Luigi had so many emotions within that moment. He wasn't sure what was happening, but he was sold on Bowser; he really loved him.
Luigi looked at him, deep in his eyes, and as he drawn his breath, he had already decided.
"I would love to!"
