When advising Sheriff Marshall that she was leaving she’d studied a map in his office, and couldn’t help noticing that she’d pass not far from the Loup on her way towards Omaha. She decided that she would steer well clear of it. Eli had made his choice and she would respect it. Whether she’d ever be reconciled to it though—she couldn’t fathom how.
