Work Text:

It wasn't that he wanted to think about it, but insecure thoughts did start to intermingle with Will's happy thoughts of carrying his and Hannibal's child. They were always there inside his head, like lions ready to pounce on their prey. But they were just thoughts, and he could ignore them, which he did, and he and Hannibal got on with their lives.

Throughout his first months, the thoughts lingered inside his still fragile mind. But they all came crashing down in his seventh month, when Will stared at himself in the mirror one night while waiting for Hannibal to come home.

His belly, which was now large with the pup inside of him, the Omega saw stretch marks around the skin, his breasts were sore and reddish as usual in most pregnancies, and he felt like he had gained weight. He hadn't bothered shaving his beard, and his eyes had near visible bags.

The Omega realized he felt worse than he did during his honeymoon, when he'd struggled to keep Hannibal's hands off him. Will always loved that the Alpha would have those strong hands around him for hours during their honeymoon period, and always expected him to present for him, to let himself be claimed and bred by Hannibal.

Their wishes had come true, and now they'll be parents of their first child. But is it worth it if Will felt like Hannibal was now ignoring him?

Those thoughts were interrupted when he heard Hannibal at the door. Quickly, he dressed up properly, and tried to put on his best smile for his mate. "Welcome back." Will greeted him, his heart bursting with joy and ache. Hannibal, still handsome as ever, smiled back and soon approached his Omega with open arms, and many kisses. "Hello, my dear. How are you feeling?" He asked, one hand behind the side of Will's stomach, where their pup was currently kicking inside. An active one, she really is.

"Full." Will answered, and he pressed a kiss to his husband's lips. "I'm glad." Hannibal said, leading him to the couch. Definitely full, after another successful provision of food by Hannibal was on their dining table. He came back from another recent hunt now. Sitting on the couch, Will watched as Hannibal now had both hands on his belly, and right now, all he needs is his Alpha's touch. The touch that will ensure that Hannibal still loves him even now.

"I need to ask you, Will… are you happy?" Will's smile fades. His eyes widened, his heart pounding. Is this what he wants to talk about the moment he comes home? He wants to say that he is happy, to know that he is happy. To know that he is enough for Hannibal and their future child. "I am." Will answered, honestly as he smiled again.

Hannibal though, his expression wasn't as relieved as he thought it would be. A hand came to cup his husband's cheek, and the Alpha sensed his mate seemed to be distressed and lonely. A quick reader of faces. "If you weren't happy, Will, I would know." He told Will, now more serious, thinking something must have been wrong.

The best thing to do would be to say it outright: the Alpha will know. But Will didn't. Instead he shook his head. "No, I'm happy. I really am." Will answered, nuzzling Hannibal's shoulder, purring as a sign of confirmation. Of course, Hannibal isn't easily convinced. He can tell his Omega seemed unsure of the love he has for him. Softly, he says, "I need to tell you something, Will."

Visibly, Will tensed up, thinking that Hannibal may say that he doesn't want him anymore. Who would? He isn't his old self anymore. He's pregnant, and feeling like soiled meat. Unworthy of his Alpha, to the love he is being given and to the child inside his womb.

Will isn't worth anything to Hannibal, because that's what his brain is saying.

"What is it?" Will asked, anxiously. "Are you.... saying you don't want me anymore?" He had to ask that immediately. Maybe getting the answer quickly would make the weight bearable. Hannibal turns to his mate, aghast that Will would even say that. "Will, why would I ever say that?"

"Please, just tell me." Will pleaded. "I don't know if you still want me." The weight of that, more than the heavy weight of what he envisioned, pushes Will to the ground. But as always, Hannibal is there to pull him up. With one hand on his mate's pregnant stomach, Hannibal fiercely stared at Will. "If I never wanted you, then I should have never loved you before."

At that, Will raised his head, and looked into his Alpha's eyes. He saw his own reflection, one of love and devotion. A love that had changed him forever. "Tell me, Will. Have I ever stopped?" Hannibal asked, testing his Omega what their reality is. Will felt his insides twisting and breaking, and the tears welling up in his eyes.

He wanted to say something, anything. Those words were not coming out however. Having a distressed Omega meant a more protective Alpha. Hannibal had these senses alert, before he had both hands on Will's own. "Look at me." He gently commands. Will does, with great difficulty.

"If you ever felt like I didn't want you anymore, Will, nevertheless, I would be with you."

Genuineness was in those words of Hannibal. In return, Will nodded, and he couldn't find enough air. But, he did find more than enough devotion from Hannibal. In the end, the Alpha kissed Will's wedding ring, a concrete of their love for each other. A love that would carry them through their trials and tribulations.

Their night lovingly carried on with Hannibal doting on his mate, warm hands on Will's back as he rubbed them soothingly. As he continued to stroke his mate, the pitter-patter of his unborn child fluttered in his Omega's belly. It was an ache that was as natural as a heartbeat, and as comforting. Will had one hand hold where the child continued kicking inside him, noting how strong their unborn daughter is. He had to admit, even though he was scared, he had a small glimmer of hope.

Eyes closed, Will relaxed as Hannibal continued to massage his back, then moved to his sides. "You're breathtaking. A beautiful creature you are." He whispers near the shell of his mate's ear. "I love you."

With those words, Will felt the weight bearing down on him, his Alpha's protective nature, his love for him. That was all he needed to hear. Just being with Hannibal alone, it was a slice of heaven on earth, away from the hellish scenery of dangers. It was a place of love and contentment, and Will was happy to stay there forever.

His eyes opened, and he smiled at his mate. "I love you too." They'll be alright, and it'll all be worth it. As long as Hannibal would love him.
