Chapter Text
“Whew, that was a workout,” Robin says as they collapse on the grassy hill next to their car. It’s what most people would call a “classic car” if they were being pretentious. In reality, it’s a gray 2008 Toyota Corolla being held together with duct tape and sheer stubbornness. After four long hours carrying boxes up five flights of stairs to his dorm by himself, Robin was totally drained. “I don’t want to unpack everything right now!” Robin groans and puts their head in their hands as they turn over and sigh. He closes his eyes and relaxes on the grassy hill, breathing in the cool air and embracing the hot noon sun beams. Normally they would worry about someone on campus judging them, but they were here early for RA boot camp. The campus is empty. He’d always wanted to just let himself be cradled by the courtyard’s grass — it’s always looked so soft. “Maybe if I just… closed my eyes for one second-“
When they wake up, it’s clearly been a few hours.
Robin’s head is totally fuzzy, a dull ache forming in his head. As his vision starts to focus, a blue haired gentleman with sapphire blue eyes comes into view. Next to the man is a girl with curly blond pigtails and a bright smile. Her gray eyes sparkle in the sunlight, just like the man’s. There’s something warm in their demeanor, like they radiate a feeling of belonging.
“I see you're awake now,” says the man. He gives a soft smile, a twinkle in his eyes. Usually someone that handsome might be intimidating, but all Robin wants to do is take him in. His voice is deep and smooth but still articulate. The bass of his voice is like a low hum that resonates in Robin’s chest and their heart races, a flush rushing to their cheeks.
“Hey there!” says the girl. She’s positively beaming, with a cute smile.
“There are better places to take a nap than on the ground, you know. Give me your hand.” He extends his arm to Robin, who takes it eagerly. The man picks up Robin easily with one arm. Wow, this guy is jacked, or maybe Robin’s just a twink— maybe both. They’re being horribly reminded of their homosexuality. So this is gay panic.
“You alright?” Says the man.
“Oh- yes.” Robin replies, blushing, and finally detaches himself from the mystery hunk.
“Why the heck were you sleeping on the ground anyways!?” Asks the girl. She puts her hands on her hips like she’s sassing Robin around. It’s almost comical. Is this girl 12?
Robin checks his phone to see the time, it’s 5:02 pm. “Well, it’s not like I wanted to sleep in the open… thanks for waking me up though. I didn’t mean to sleep this long.”
The gentleman asks, “How long were you asleep anyway?”
“Three hours.”
“Ah… Well, I’m happy to hear you’re well-rested. It’s important that you get the sleep you need, even if it might be at 2 pm.” The gentleman smiles with his eyes closed, making crinkled crescents. ”I’m Chrom, and this is my sister Lissa. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Chrom extends his hand out for a handshake. Robin is not sure if he can handle any more physical contact before imploding.
“I’m Robin, Robin Grima.” In the end, Robin decides to take the handshake, in order to not be rude. The handshake is firm and Chrom shakes with a strong grip. Oh god, you can see the veins. Robin does not care that his hands are practically getting crushed by this hunk of a man. Lissa also brings her hand out for a shake. Robin takes it and is utterly surprised when it was a bro hug instead. This girl is also freakishly strong, must run in the family.
“Anyways, big bro, when is Frederick coming, he should meet Robin too!.” This girl is seriously like seven years old.
Chrom starts thinking and damn that’s pretty hot. His eyebrows furrow and his mouth turns into an awkward shape. God, it’s so cute.
“I’m sure he’ll find us at some point. I just wanted to take a little walk with you alone, find some quality time before I have to start the training,” says Chrom. Robin’s breath halts.
“You’re an RA too?” Asks Robin.
“Yeah, floor five of Exalt Hall.” Says Chrom.
Robin lit up. “Oh, me too! Guess we’re neighbors!”
“Guess we are.” Chrom smiles and crosses his arms.
Lissa then jumps and tackles Chrom with a hug, “I thought we were neighbors!” In a matter of seconds, she starts fake crying, burying her head in Chrom’s shoulder. God this girl is three years-old but slay.
Chrom pats her on the head, “We’re all neighbors, Lissa! Don’t worry.” He then winks at Robin. Robin froze and blushed as the wink was out of nowhere. “I kinda rigged the system and asked for her to be in the same hall as us.”
“And for Maribelle to be with me!” Lissa cheers.
“Why yes, of course.” Chrom pauses for a moment and starts thinking again. Still just as hot as before. “Lissa and Maribelle have been friends since childhood.” Chrom continues. “I thought it best to keep them together, and if I didn’t I’m pretty sure Maribelle would have me assassinated.” Chrom chuckles, but the smile doesn’t reach his eyes like normal. He sincerely fears death.
Ringgggg Ringggg
Lissa pulls her phone out. “Speaking of Maribelle!” Lissa picks up the call and starts talking. “Uh huh… Yeah, sure! I’ll tell Chrom. See you soon!” Lissa put her cute baby yellow phone back into her jacket pocket. It has a sunflower painted on the back of the case. “Maribelle invited me to dinner!”
Chrom goes wide-eyed. “I thought you were going with me!”
“Maybe later!” Lissa looks at Robin. “Go with Robin! He looks like he hasn’t eaten in days anyways. Besides you two are RA’s right? You can get to know each other!” What a weird way of calling Robin a twink.
Robin freezes as they’re not used to these types of situations. They just met! What does she mean by going out and eating dinner and getting to know each other? Robin is not mentally prepared for this! The only social interaction Robin has had in years is with the librarian, who he tries to avoid and can barely make eye contact with.
“Great idea Lissa! Of course, if Robin is okay with that.” Robin stands there, thinking of what to say. He is hungry, but he just met the guy! They’re not prepared to go on a not-really-date with this hottie! But Robin doesn’t want to be rude either. Ugh, forget it, food over mental health.
Robin breaks open his best smile to create the illusion of comfort. It is definitely not working. At best they hope they don’t look half as anxious as they feel. “Yeah, sure! I’m getting a bit hungry myself.” Robin says, voice shaking.
“Well, you two have fun! I’m going to go hang out with my bestie girlfriend!” Lissa skips away into the field towards the parking lot as she waves goodbye. She nearly falls on her face twice. As she leaves, Robin turns to Chrom.
“Are they dating?”
Chrom chuckles, “What? No, they’re not. You’re funny, Robin.”
Robin is already tired again.
