New Notification

Summary:

“My boyfriend is making dinner, so the stream is gonna be over soon,” Sokka says cheerfully. He can hear Zuko in the kitchen; the sizzling of food and the smell of a homecooked meal put Sokka so at ease that not even this horror game can bother him. “And before any of you accuse me of not helping out or being a bad boyfriend, I have been told multiple times that the only cooking I’m allowed to do is grilling or barbequing. So I’m not--”

“NO!” Sokka yells suddenly. His character in the game becomes victim to a sudden jump scare and death. From the kitchen, there’s a crash. His shout probably startled Zuko as well.

Or, a collection of moments between Streamer Sokka and his boyfriend Zuko.

Notes:

Hello! A follow-up to my Streamer Sokka fic has been a long time coming. So long, in fact, that it's kind of been haunting me. When I first posted my streamer Sokka fic, I wasn't doing super great mentally, and for some reason I connected a lot of negative feelings to that fic. Like, to the point where getting comments on it or even seeing it my ao3 emails made me feel like shit and I almost orphaned it at least a dozen times lol. I'm doing much better now, and randomly got the motivation to write this. It was actually fun to write and I like what I ended up with. I hope you all enjoy it, too! (that being said, please don't ask for more from this series lol. like, I'm begging, there won't be anymore)

Anyway, it feels great to start off the year by posting Zukka, I've missed them. Not beta-read, so any mistakes are my own. Enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Sokka is so excited to destroy his old desk he can hardly sit still. He’s bouncing his leg in the passenger seat, shaking the car, and earning side glances with growing levels of annoyance from Zuko. He can’t help it! That desk, now thrown in the back of Zuko’s car-- because Zuko’s car is more spacious than Sokka’s-- has been causing him nothing but grief for more than a year. And he finally doesn’t have to deal with it anymore!

And anyway, Zuko should be just as excited as Sokka is. It was this desk that brought them together, after all. If not for this damned wobbly desk, they may never have met each other. If Sokka never needed a new one, he may never have started talking to Zuko. It’s only right that Zuko is there to destroy it with him.

(A small, sentimental part of Sokka had wondered if he should keep the desk. Just out of respect for all that it’s done for him. That desk has been with him from the very beginning of his streaming career. It’s seen every up and down. It’s carried his spills and tears. It’s been a pillow for his weary head. It’s been a constant through many dark and lonely nights.

It’s the reason he met his boyfriend.

It’s also, Sokka thinks bitterly, the reason he fell down the fucking mountain in Getting Over It. If it hadn’t wobbled at the worst time in history, he wouldn’t have fallen. So really, he doesn’t feel all that bad about destroying it.)

Sokka,” Zuko hisses, glaring at Sokka’s still-bouncing leg. “You’re making the car wobble as much as your desk. Are you taking up its bad habits? If you don’t stop--”

“Sorry!” Sokka cries, forcing his leg still. “I’m just excited! This is gonna be so fun! Like a rage room but free. I know you wanna get at least one hit in, too, don’t lie.”

“I’m not actually interested in possibly maiming myself. That hammer you brought is huge, why do you even have it?”

“That’s what--”

“Do not. Are you actually twelve? I should’ve known by how you text.”

“That’s rude. You should appreciate my sense of humor more. Two million people think I’m funny, ya know?”

“At least one million of those people are only there because you’re pretty-- Sokka! ” One of Zuko’s hands leaves the wheel, clutching at Sokka’s leg to hold it still. Sokka smirks, both because of what Zuko was saying and because really, Sokka is still the winner here. Now he gets to hold one of Zuko’s hands hostage for the rest of the drive.

“Aww, you think I’m pretty?” Sokka bats his eyelashes. He maneuvers Zuko’s hand until their fingers are intertwined, switching his excited energy into playing his Zuko’s hand instead of bouncing his leg.

Zuko rolls his eyes, trying to remain aloof, but there’s no hiding the blush on his pale cheeks. “You know you are, and you know I think you are. Don’t fish for compliments.”

“But it’s my favorite type of fishing.”

“Alright, tell that to your dad the next time he asks you to go fishing with him.”

“Low blow, babe,” Sokka pouts and Zuko shoots him a smirk.

“Five minutes,” Zuko squeezes Sokka’s hand gently. “We’ll be at the clearing in five minutes. Be just a little patient.”

Sokka sighs dramatically but relaxes into the seat, playing with Zuko’s fingers and tracing the lines of his palm.

Destroying The Desk(™)!

Description

Hey everyone! After many, many months of waiting and suffering with my evil, wobbly desk, I finally have a new one! Join me as I take out all of my frustration on my old desk and give it a taste of its own medicine. Fair warning; I’ve been told by multiple sources this is stupid and I have a high probability of hurting myself, so don’t try this yourself! Do as I say, not as I do, and all that. (At least they managed to talk me out of setting it on fire lol)

Enjoy the video! Follow me on all socials…

[The video opens on a small clearing in an empty field, with nothing but trees in sight. The grass is in varying states of health, some patches are dried and yellow while others are a lush green. In the middle of the clearing stands an old, light brown desk, visibly lopsided and scuffed with scratches and stains. The frame of the video wobbles as the camera is handed off to someone new. From behind the camera, a person pops into view, bouncing into the frame.]

“Hey, everyone!” Sokka greets cheerfully, a wide grin on his face. “As you can see, we’re somewhere new today! We’re not at home playing a game, no not today.”

“Today!” Sokka throws his arms wide, gesturing to the desk behind him. “Today, we’re destroying my old, evil desk!” Sokka dramatically takes the safety glasses from where they were hanging on the collar of his shirt and placing them on his face. Zuko snorts from behind the camera and Sokka can’t help but grin wider.

Zuko had agreed to play cameraman for the day, so Sokka can smash his old desk to his heart’s content. Sokka knows Zuko won’t be able to hold his tongue the whole time. His smartass gene is too strong for that. He won’t be able to keep in his commentary as Sokka chats to his audience through the camera and Sokka already can’t wait to watch this video back during editing. He’ll have to ask Zuko if it’s okay to keep their conversations in, and he really hopes Zuko says yes. More people deserve to hear Zuko’s bitingly funny remarks.

“If you’ve been following me for any amount of time,” Sokka continues, forcing himself to make eye contact with the camera and not with Zuko’s pretty, pretty eyes. “you’ll know that this desk has been the bane of my existence for years now. I finally got a new one a few months ago--”

And a new boyfriend to go along with it. Must have been a pretty amazing two-for-one deal I snagged, Sokka thinks giddily.

“Which means!” Sokka pulls on a pair of working gloves with the same air of drama that he put on the safety glasses. Oh, the concessions he makes to ease his worrywart of a boyfriend. Well, Katara had made him promise to at least wear the glasses, too, so he can’t fully blame Zuko. And he doesn’t want any pieces of wood to fly back into his eyes either.

“That this old desk,” Sokka points at the monstrosity behind him. “Is no longer needed. Done for. Obsolete. And that means I get to destroy it. Show it some of the pain that it’s caused me. And I plan on enjoying it. Very much.”

“So sinister,” Zuko teases, and there it is. Sokka was wondering how long Zuko would hold his tongue. Sokka shoots him a bright grin, warmth filling his chest at how happy and at ease Zuko looks. He’s cradling Sokka’s camera carefully with both hands, treating it gently after his worries over holding such an important-- and expensive-- piece of Sokka’s equipment. Sokka warms to see Zuko treating his things with such respect. Despite his nerves over holding the camera, it’s clear that Zuko is already having a good time. His eyes are soft as he watches Sokka, and Sokka is glad to see that he feels comfortable enough to let loose rather than stay silent the whole time.

He might change his mind later and request Sokka cut his voice out completely. And Sokka would, of course. He doesn’t want Zuko to be uncomfortable at all. He’s perfectly capable of hiding Zuko from any content he might sneak his way into and he’s happy to do it for as long as Zuko wants.

(Zuko has found his way into Sokka’s content before, this isn’t the first time. It has been a few months, after all. He’s called while Sokka’s been streaming, snippets of his voice being heard before Sokka mutes his stream. He’s been in corners of Sokka’s videos when he vlogs; shots of his shoes as they walk somewhere or his hands when he gives Sokka something off-camera.

Sokka’s never shown his full body or his voice for more than a second, and certainly never his face. Zuko has said he doesn’t want to be involved in an obvious way, but he doesn’t mind those small things. He knows it’s pretty impossible to stay completely hidden when so much of Sokka’s life is public. Zuko doesn’t want his face shown and that’s the line he draws, so that’s the line Sokka will stay far away from.

He doesn’t care that Sokka talks about him, though. Sokka has made sure to ask about that thoroughly. Zuko’s not interested in hiding their relationship. He just doesn’t want all the attention that would come his way if people knew him. So while Sokka’s audience knows about him, they don’t know him. There’s a line, and Sokka doesn’t want to cross it.)

But maybe Zuko will let him keep in some of their banter.

The first crack! of the hammer against the middle of the desk is loud and echoes throughout the clearing. It’s loud enough to startle both him and Zuko. Sokka whips around to stare at Zuko in surprise and glee, a smile slowly growing. Zuko raises an eyebrow and Sokka can’t keep in the giddy giggle.

There’s a crack in the middle of the desk. Sokka swings again.

StarsInTheSky: some of my favorite highlights: Sokka: *diabolical laughter, holding up the hammer* Cameraman: I think you’re going mad with power. Sokka: *louder laughter*

Sokka: I should’ve bought a sledgehammer for this. Cameraman: Don’t even think about it, you shouldn’t even have a regular hammer that big. Sokka: That’s what-- Cameraman: *the loudest sigh ever*

Cameraman: can you show me how to zoom in again? I don’t remember and I don’t wanna press the wrong button. Sokka: yeah! Of course! *big, big, heartstopping smile* Cameraman, softly: damn.

Cameraman: *proceeds to zoom in and out, clearly having fun*

Sokka, pulling out a lighter: now the fun really begins. Cameraman, clearly concerned and shaking the camera: Are you serious? You brought a lighter? We agreed you wouldn’t try to set the thing on fire. Sokka: But you wanna try, right? I know you do, you secret pyromaniac. Cameraman: Sokka. Sokka, stop it, oh my god-- *video cuts, and in the next shot you can see the corner of the desk is scorched*

Sokka: okay I was joking before but I think you actually might be a pyro. How’d you make a flame that big with just my little lighter? Cameraman: Don’t worry about it. Continue smashing.

Cameraman to Sokka, mid-swing: You need better form. Sokka, dropping the hammer and immensely offended: Excuse me?

Sokka, holding out the hammer: You wanna take a couple swings? Cameraman: Fuck it, sure. *video cuts and in the next shot the desk is in way more pieces*

Sokka, looking down at the remains of the desk: this is gonna suck to clean up. Why can’t we just leave it? Cameraman: We can’t just leave it in the middle of the clearing. All the strays hang out here, what if they get hurt from the splinters? Sokka: *groans loudly and starts picking up scraps*

thisisf1ine: loving camera guy’s commentary. So done yet also so encouraging

theraven: Sokka destroying his old desk is a big mood

themoonisalesbian: cameraman is secret boyfriend right? We’re all agreed that cameraman is secret boyfriend? Cause I love him already

ItsWimdy: Secret boyfriend also being a secret pyromaniac is actually so funny. There’s no way he should’ve been able to scorch the desk that much with that little lighter

ASDFGH76: Sokka getting more and more into the swings and going wild was the most therapeutic thing to watch

HeyGamers: Secret boyfriend might have a future in camera work. I know Sokka edits all his videos but the zoom-ins were pure gold

KyoshiStan17: the amount of zoom-ins we got of Sokka’s eyes… methinks cameraman has a crush

Zuko had been mostly joking when he told Sokka he might join in watching his stream.

He’d been mostly joking, teasing the other boy into maybe freaking out a little bit. He didn’t really have any intentions to do it, but the longer he sits on his sofa, laptop on his lap, and his and Sokka’s text thread open on his phone, the more he was tempted.

… Maybe he’ll just check it out.

Zuko’s never been on Twitch for more than a few seconds. The first time he looked Sokka up, he got overwhelmed with how cluttered and busy the homepage of Twitch looked, and closed the tab in under seven seconds. He’d gone to the much more familiar Youtube and just watched the stream highlight clips and other videos Sokka posted there.

Zuko debates with himself for a minute, laptop open and glaring at him accusingly. Zuko stares so long that his screen dims.

What does he have to lose, really?

Zuko navigates over to Twitch, trying to ignore everything happening on the homepage and going straight for the search bar. He types in Sokka’s handle, is sent to his page, and sees, front and center, Sokka’s current livestream.

Zuko opens it.

Because Zuko doesn’t have an account, or he’s not subscribed, or whatever, he has to watch an ad first, which-- fine. Sokka can thank him for whatever change he makes from Zuko watching a minute of ads. When the livestream finally starts playing, Sokka is mid-sentence and Zuko is overwhelmed by how fast the chat at the side is moving.

Overwhelmed, Zuko looks for a way to close the chat over to the side. He finds it, thankfully, and no longer having the fast-moving chat take up a quarter of his screen goes a long way in making the site more manageable.

“Right?” Sokka is saying, his voice coming out clearly through Zuko’s laptop speaker. It feels different knowing he’s hearing Sokka’s voice in real-time rather than a recording. “That was so stupid of me! I don’t know how I managed to put in the wrong phone number when I’ve had the same number for literally ten years.”

Oh, Sokka is talking about him. Well, not him, not yet at least. But he’s telling his audience about his whole desk debacle.

“So I started texting the guy whose number I actually put in,” Sokka continues and Zuko starts paying more attention. “Thank god this guy was nice about it and didn’t just ignore me. I really didn’t wanna have to call customer service. I mean, how embarrassing is that? Hey, sorry, but I somehow put the wrong phone number with my contact information. How can I change it? No thanks.”

“So, I started texting this guy,” Sokka pauses to clear his throat, and Zuko notes with interest that Sokka’s cheeks are getting darker. It’s harder to tell through the screen, the lighting on Sokka’s end doing well to hide it, but the blush is there. “He agreed to give me all the updates on my desk that got sent to him. Super cool of him.”

“And we’ve been talking a lot more?” Sokka continues, voice going up at the end. He doesn’t make eye contact with the camera, gaze down and to the side. Maybe looking at his chat? Zuko doesn’t want to open in and be overwhelmed again, even though he is getting curious.

“Not just about my desk anymore, too,” Sokka says with a grin. “We’ve just been talking. But yeah, what he just texted me was about my desk.”

“It’s finally shipped!” Sokka cheers, throwing his arms up in victory. He jostles his desk in the process and his whole set-up jerks with it. Sokka quickly grips his desk to steady it. Sokka glowers down at it. “Which means I won’t have to deal with this for much longer. I can’t wait, honestly. It feels like I’ve been waiting forever.”

Sokka’s chat seems to be demanding his attention about something because his gaze focuses back on that corner. Sokka’s cheeks change color rapidly and he starts spluttering, his whole body jerking as he waves his hands about.

“No way! Guys stop it!” Sokka says frantically. “It’s not a crush! We’re just talking-- just friends! Guys. Guys! I don’t know if he’s watching, stop it!”

Zuko laughs incredulously as Sokka continues to try and dissuade his chat. Zuko can feel his own cheeks warming as well. The way Sokka’s talking…

Way too much frantic denial for it to be the truth.

That works out perfectly, because Zuko is sure he feels the same.

Not a crush indeed, Zuko thinks. He sits back to watch the rest of Sokka’s stream, relaxing as Sokka cries out in despair as he accidentally starts what looks like a boss battle.

On Youtube, there’s a compilation of every time-- or almost every time-- that a glimpse of Zuko has been caught on stream.

Sokka had panicked at first when he saw it. A ten-minute cut-up video, tiny glances of Zuko and clips of his voice, as well as snippets of Sokka talking about him. Sokka watches the video, torn between anxiety over Zuko being upset about it, and how damn cute the video is. Sokka can’t deny how sweet it is, watching every time Zuko peaks into frame, how he hands Sokka things, or the casual, sweet touches. Squeezes to his shoulder, running a hand through his hair, kissing the top of his head. It’s cute, lovely, and endearing. And seeing firsthand how Sokka’s own face changes whenever Zuko is near…

It’s kind of embarrassing, actually.

How Sokka’s face lights up. How he softens. His eyes shine, always so clearly happy to see Zuko. How his smile softens, whole demeanor shifting when Zuko’s near. How his body automatically leans toward whatever part of Zuko is closest. Leaning into every touch, fingers lingering when Zuko hands him something. How his voice gentles when he responds.

It’s pretty exposing, seeing how obviously in love he is. And all of this is just… out there. For anyone to see.

Sokka sends the video to Zuko, too embarrassed and worried to see him react to it in person. It takes an hour for Zuko to respond.

Every Time Sokka’s Boyfriend Showed Up On Stream

Description

I want to make it clear that this video is just for fun! Sokka has said before that his boyfriend wants to keep his privacy, and getting peaks of him every now and then is not an invitation to go and find him! Respect both of their wishes, please!

I just thought it would be sweet to put this compilation together. It’s so sweet how Sokka reacts whenever his boyfriend shows up!

[Clip 1: Sokka is seen bundled up in his desk chair, knees to his chest, and a blanket over his shoulders. The lights in his room are dimmed, his face mainly illuminated by his computer screen. In the corner of the clip, we can see he is playing a horror game. His headphones are pressed tightly to his ears, listening for any sound cues in the game.]

“I’m so on edge, you guys, it’s not even funny,” Sokka says, his voice barely above a whisper. “I don’t even know what to do next. I’m scared that if I move I’ll get caught. I haven’t saved in a while…”

Sokka trails off as he hears a noise, tensing as he listens closely. He can’t tell if it’s coming from the game or real life. Zuko’s here, hanging out until Sokka finishes his stream so they can go to Katara’s together for dinner. He’s in Sokka’s bedroom, though, not having wanted to disrupt.  No one would have been able to see him if he sat on the sofa, but Zuko also didn’t want to sit in the dark, which was fair.

Sokka hears another noise, this one sounding closer. He looks around, wondering if maybe he’s just hearing Zuko leave the bedroom, but he doesn’t see him. Though, with all the lights in his apartment off, it’s kind of hard to see anything. Sokka focuses back on his game, ignoring his chat asking questions. He could be hearing any number of noises. He is in an apartment complex, after all.

“Okay, I’m gonna try and leave the room. There’s another door down the hallway that I’m pretty sure I’m supposed to go to…” Sokka trails off again as he focuses on the game, sneakily maneuvering from his hiding spot.

There are more noises, but Sokka ignores them, believing they’re from the game. That is, until he glances at his chat and sees them spamming ‘BEHIND YOU!’

Sokka doesn’t get a chance to look before hands are clamping on his shoulders and Zuko’s deep voice hisses, “ Boo, ” right in his ear.

Sokka screams, high-pitched and shrill and devastating. Zuko laughs, bright and happy and gleeful. Sokka shuts off his camera, putting up his Be Right Back! picture that Aang drew; a chibi Sokka sitting by an open laptop-- and muting his mic. Sokka whirls around, playfully slapping Zuko’s shoulder as his boyfriend doubles over in his laughter.

When Sokka returns to his game a few minutes later, he dies, causing him to scream again. He can hear Zuko’s laughter from the bedroom.

[Clips 2-8: a series of times that Sokka’s boyfriend appears, just out of frame to hand Sokka something. It’s always either a drink or a bowl of food. Occasionally he lingers, watching Sokka play for a few minutes before wandering back off with a parting squeeze to Sokka’s shoulder. Each time, Sokka’s expression shifts to one of fondness as he thanks his boyfriend and smiles gently. When his boyfriend leaves, Sokka squeezes his hand back and watches him walk away. Each time, without fail, Sokka sighs lovingly.]

Destroying the Chair(™)!

Description

Hey everyone! So, some of you may know, but about a year ago I got a new desk to replace my wobbly one and destroyed the old one. (Video up on my channel if you want to go watch it ;) ) Now, I also had an incredibly squeaky chair. I kept putting off getting a new one since it was comfortable enough, just loud as hell. But! I got a new one!! Super comfortable, matches my desk (electric blue, how cool is that?), and DOESN’T SQUEAK. So, in following tradition, we’re destroying the old chair!

Same disclaimer as last time; don’t do this yourself. I’ve been told once again this is possibly stupid and that I might injure myself. Do as I say, not as I do. Enjoy!

Follow me on all socials…

“How are you even gonna destroy the chair?” Zuko asks, staring at said chair over the top of Sokka’s camera. They’re back in the clearing once again, this time with the objective to destroy Sokka’s old gaming chair. And of course, Zuko’s waiting until the camera is already recording to question Sokka. “A hammer isn’t gonna do the kind of damage that it did to your desk.”

“Don’t be such a party pooper,” Sokka exclaims. “That just means I have to work a little harder. Especially since you won’t let me go at it with a knife--”

“In your dreams.”

“And you won’t let me light it up--”

“Maybe if we weren’t in the clearing. But the grass here is all dead, we’d start a fire.”

“Oh? And where do we have to go if I wanna set it on fire?” Sokka questions. They’ve gotten way off-topic, but Sokka can’t help getting caught up in their banter.

“Nowhere in town.”

“Of course you’d know there’s nowhere in town to safely set a fire, you pyro.”

Zuko rolls his eyes. “At least I’m not an arsonist. Which you would be if you lit up your chair.”

Sokka harrumphs and crosses his arms. “So I just break it with my hammer! That’s what I was gonna do anyway. Now, let's do this!”

Sokka lifts up his hammer, and without further ado, takes a strong swing at the back of his old chair. He hears Zuko sigh dramatically, but when he looks over, there’s a small smile on his face.

StarsInTheSky: god I love this. My favorite highlights: the whole pyro conversation. Is secret boyfriend actually a pyro? The world may never know.

The pure joy on Sokka’s face when the wheels broke off his old chair. Pure, childish delight.

Sokka, using the sharp back of the hammer to rip the cushion: Oh, I didn’t even need a knife! Cameraman: Be careful, oh my god. I’m not driving you to the hospital. Sokka: You wouldn’t drive me? Cameraman: I don’t want blood in my car.

Sokka: *pulls out a lighter* Cameraman: Are you kidding? We just talked about this. Sokka: But it’ll be so much more fun! *The video cuts, and in the next shot, the chair has been torched a little bit.*

Our boys are both pyros, I fear.

FroggyFroggerFrog: the series continues! What will Sokka destroy next? Tune in next week to find out

blazeit: okay but IS secret boyfriend a pyro? inquiring minds want to know

helpivefallen: ngl Sokka tearing up his chair with the hammer bc his boyfriend wouldn’t let him use a knife is lowkey hilarious

[Clip 9: One of Sokka’s Instagram stories. The camera opens on him and stays on him the whole time. The recording is of him having a quick conversation with his boyfriend, who does not appear on camera.]

“Hey, babe,” Sokka says, entering his living room and standing in front of Zuko. Zuko looks up from his work with a raised eyebrow, expression impassive.

“What?”

“Will you do the boyfriend tag with me?” Sokka grins, trying to put on his charm. Zuko’s expression doesn’t move a muscle.

“I’d rather eat glass.”

“Understood,” Sokka says and ends his Instagram story.

[Clip 10: A part from one of Sokka’s horror game streams. He’s not super focused on the game, instead taking a casual approach and chatting with his viewers.]

NO! ” Sokka yells suddenly. His character in the game becomes victim to a sudden jump scare and death. From the kitchen, there’s a crash. His shout probably startled Zuko as well.

“What the hell?” Zuko yells back. He doesn’t wait for an answer though, exiting the kitchen and coming into the living room. He comes to stand right behind Sokka, only the bottom half of his torso visible on camera. If he leans down Sokka will turn off his camera, but they’re safe for now.

“Oh,” Zuko says in understanding when he sees the death screen. “How’d you die? What happened?”

Sokka groans, burying his face in his hands. It’s cool that he has the room to actually do that now with his new desk, but he’s still annoyed on principle.

“Got caught,” Sokka bemoans.

“Poor thing,” Zuko says. It sounds like his voice is full of fake pity but Sokka can hear the genuineness in it. He’s learned by now how irritating it is to die in a game and he feels for Sokka. That doesn’t stop Sokka from pouting up at him, though.

Zuko squeezes his shoulders, smiling down at him softly. The gesture is nice, and Sokka can feel his annoyance drifting away. Zuko gestures for Sokka to sit up, which he does with a hint of curiosity. Zuko leans down, pressing a soft kiss to Sokka’s forehead.

Sokka suddenly can’t remember what annoyance has ever felt like.

“Dinner’ll be ready in twenty minutes. Wind down, sweetheart.”

“Okay,” Sokka replies dreamily. “Thank you.”

Sokka watches Zuko walk back into the kitchen, no doubt there’s a lovestruck look on his face. His chat is going wild over how cute they think the moment was. Sokka snaps out of his daze long enough to watch a clip of Zuko’s appearance, relieved to see that only the bottom of his face was visible in the camera, and only for a moment.

“Okay guys, we’re just gonna chat for a bit until I have to go…”

Manwithaplan uploaded a new video!

Moving Out and Moving In!

Description

Hey everyone! You can probably tell from the title, but in this video, I’m gonna show you guys the process of moving out of my apartment and into a new one, this time with someone special.

Yes! My boyfriend and I are moving in together! After two years of being together, we decided to take this next step. Thanks for coming on this journey with us.

Follow me…

“Hey everyone!” Sokka greets the camera. He’s the one holding it this time while Zuko stands off to the side. He’s unpacking one of the kitchen boxes, hair pulled back into a bun as he works. All day, Sokka has had to fight the constant urge to smooch his boyfriend’s forehead. He may have given in a few times, but Zuko smiles and returns the gesture every time.

“For today’s video, we’re continuing the destruction of my old stuff series! That’s right, today we’re gonna be destroying my old apartment--”

“Sokka!” Zuko chastises. Sokka can hear Aang and Ty Lee laughing from the living room. Those two have hit it off surprisingly well. Sokka’s happy to see his friends and Zuko’s friends also becoming friends.

“Joking! I’m joking!” Sokka quickly says. “About the destruction part. I’ve moved! Uh-- We’ve moved! Wow, I’m not doing this well, heh.”

Sokka rubs the back of his neck in a nervous habit. He knows he and Zuko have talked about this, but for some reason, Sokka is more nervous than Zuko is.

These past two years, they’ve been so careful to keep Zuko fully out of any of Sokka’s content. The closest he came to being fully seen was a year ago when he came over to comfort Sokka after he died on stream. And even then, only the bottom half of his face had been sort of visible for a second. Other than that, they’ve been very successful at keeping Zuko out of the public eye. His fans-- and isn’t it crazy to think that he has fans-- have been super respectful and have never pushed for information about Zuko.

Hell, they don’t even know his name. They’ve all affectionately dubbed him secret boyfriend even though Zuko has been anything but a secret.

“Since you’re struggling so much, I’ll do it,” Zuko grumbles, coming to stand next to Sokka. Right next to Sokka. There’s a smirk on his face, the lovable bastard. Sokka’s nerves dissipate in the face of Zuko’s confidence. Zuko makes direct eye contact with the camera, just like Sokka taught him to do.

“Hi, I’m Zuko. Otherwise known as the secret boyfriend. We’re moving in together. Sokka’s gonna show you his new gaming room so he can stop having his set-up in the living room. He got a bunch of new shit to decorate the room with, but we’re not destroying anything.”

Sokka hadn’t noticed how wide his grin had become as he listened to Zuko talk to his camera, to his audience with ease. As if he’s been doing it this whole time. It fills Sokka with a kind of warm pride, and he can’t help but lean over to kiss Zuko right on the lips.

Zuko looks surprised when Sokka pulls back, but it quickly morphs into the look of warmth that he’s used to seeing on Zuko’s face.

I love you, that look says. Sokka knows his own expression is saying it right back.

“What Zuko said,” Sokka clears his throat. He’ll have to edit that, he’s sure he and Zuko were just staring at each other for far too long. Or maybe he’ll leave it in. His audience should know exactly how in love he is.

“He’s my wonderful boyfriend, we’re moving in together, and I love him very, very much,” Sokka continues. “And I’m showing you my new gaming room so I don’t commandeer the living room anymore. Let’s go do that.”

Sokka turns off the camera. He’ll pick it back up when he’s settled in the room and ready to start setting stuff up. For now, he sets the camera on the kitchen island-- they have a kitchen island now!-- and wraps his arms around Zuko’s neck. Zuko’s arms wrap around his waist in return.

“You love me very, very much?” Zuko teases, smirk still firmly in place.

“Yes,” Sokka says easily. He could return the teasing easily, but it feels so much better to just skip all that and get right to the heart of it. Zuko’s expression softens immediately, all traces of teasing gone in an instant. All that’s left is adoration.

“I love you, too.”

In their new home, their friends and family bustling around them as they help unload and unpack, Sokka can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.

Notes:

I very nearly did the “hello, Zuko here” but I figured that would ruin any immersion and just make this too cheesy lol.

If you just so happen to be one of my bnha readers, rest assured I’m still working on (phone) call for help! I got covid and that kinda threw off my whole vibe lol. Also started a new Hawks fic (my beloved bird boy… he has so many wips) and it’s actually looking pretty good! I want to try and finish that soon. Make up for missing his birthday.

I hope you enjoyed!

I’m rejectscanon on tumblr if you want to come say hi :)
