We Got Ourselves A Deal?

Summary:

A/N: Based on Spectacular Spider-Man if it was set in an alternative universe where some events from the show happened and others didn't. This takes place with the gang in their early twenties and at university, since I'm also that thing and it made it easier to write.

Peter Parker x Female Reader

Work Text:

School sucks, end of. Not only am I always late, but even when I'm on time, I still get singled out every time I show up. I thought university would be different than Midtown High, and yet here I am, showing up late and being singled out.

Let me start from the beginning, my name's Peter Parker, and for over four years I've been New York's one and only Spiderman. You probably know the story, I got bitten by a spider, suddenly found myself able to climb walls anddddd I pretty much save the city from some new supervillain on a weekly basis.

Right now I'm sat in the lab, listening to professor Octavious dribble out something about particle acceleration. I admire the Doc plenty, it's just when you're Spider-Man-ing until 4.30am, an 8am lecture doesn't fill you with an extreme energy to learn stuff.

The only thing that's keeping me awake is my friend Gwen Stacy, she took this course with me. I met Gwen when I was in Midtown, we bonded over being the only two nerds in school with a perfect score of 100 on every test we took. We had some bumpy times over the course of our friendship, mainly because of my...ahem, secret. But we overcame that fairly quickly and we've remained best buds ever since.

"And don't forget next week's essay, I want to see it on my desk by 9!" Octavious calls out, the shrill bell ringing out in an offbeat tune. As though it was an organised dance, the students stood up and rushed out of the door. Peter on the other hand, slowly placed his equipment away, his mind on something else.

Gwen seemed to notice his lacking behaviour, saddling up to his workbench with her books pushed against her chest, "Hey Pete, noticed you dozing off in class today? I wish I could say this wasn't an unusual occurrence."

"I know, I know." Peter waved his hand around dismissively, "It's just... other  stuff kept me up last night." The teen tried to be discrete, noting Octavious was still in the room, and from past experiences, Peter knew he was always listening. Gwen got the gist of things pretty quickly, only offering Peter a small nod in return, "I see...Well, you better head home, I imagine May's waiting for you."

Peter inwardly groaned, "Ugh, right! I completely forgot what day it was." Peter then rushed away his books and pens, zipping his bag shut and haphazardly sprinting out of the room, "Thanks, Gwen!" his voice called out, dulling as he went further down the halls. Gwen left Octavious' room with a small smile, wishing the doctor himself a good afternoon.

---

How could I possibly forget today, I'm such an idiot! Maybe I've been doing too many patrols recently, but it's not like it's my fault the bad guys won't take a day off. Ugh, May is going to kill me! That's if I'm not already dead before I get to the front door.

Peter had always thought swinging his way through the city was the fastest way home, but today he proved to himself that running like death was on your tail was also a sufficient way to get around. Once the old family home came into view, Peter skidded to a halt, pacing himself. He tried to control his breathing, flattened his wayward hair down and adjusted his clothing; all before putting a hand on the doorknob.

Slowly twisting, Peter was embraced by the warmth that flooded the house. He quickly sealed the door shut, finding it to be a shame to let the heating out into the cold November sunset. Dropping his school bag to the floor, Peter peeked his head into the living room, catching his aunt on her knees by the fireplace.

There she is, Aunt May. I owe everything to this woman, she raised me as though I was her own son. She and Uncle Ben gave me the best life possible, she still tries to do that now on her own; even when she can't afford it. But I made a promise to Uncle Ben that I would always look after Aunt May no matter what, even if that means balancing my university work and the struggles of getting a job.

Scanning her form a little longer, Peter caught the rusted frame in her wrinkled hands. He made a mental note to buy a new picture frame fairly soon. May placed the picture down with such gentle hands, lighting a small tealight candle in front of it.

Uncle Ben...

Uncle Ben, I'm so sorry. I completely forget about- it doesn't matter, I'm here now and that's what counts. Uncle Ben taught me how to be a respectful and responsible human being, and I strive every day, as Spidey and Peter, to uphold his wishes.

I was there on the night he-

I could've stopped it, but fate plays its own game, a game I wasn't a part of. And although Uncle Ben isn't with us now, he'll always be with me. With great power, comes great responsibility.

"Oh Peter, you're here. You shouldn't sneak up on a lady of my age like that, who knows how much more my heart can take." Aunt May joked, rising to her full height; though it would never be higher than Peter's chest. She wrapped him in a generous embrace, rubbing her hands along his back.

"Aunt May, don't say things like that. You're gonna be around forever!" Peter rebuked. She pulled away from the hug, a smile gracing her lips, "That's the plan," she mused. Aunt May shuffled over to the couch, picking up the remote with a shakey hand and unmuting the news, Peter didn't even realise the TV was on.

"Midtown Police say the masked criminal known as Venom escaped the Raft last night following a fight with two other inmates. Not much is known about the villain besides his former host Eddie Brock. But Midtown Police say that Brock still remains in custody, so here's the big question: Who's in the suit?"

(Y/N) (L/N), Daily Buggles best reporter. Not only does she love Spidey, but she also happens to be my best friend; well one of them. I've known (Y/N) since Midtown, I bumped into her while she was snooping around the school. She ended up busting some big sports scam and made it front page in the school's newspaper. It was no surprise that she ended up working at the Bugle.

It's also possible I may have had a small crush on her back in high school, but that- that definitely went away. Besides, I have no time for dating. I mean, between crime fighting and handing in my assignments, I'm a pretty busy guy. Plus I still need to get a job to help out Aunt May.

"Captain Stacy of the Midtown Police department is on the scene with Midtown News' Curt Spader. Captain Stacy, what can you tell us?" The news report startled Peter, his eyes widening and mind racing.

Wait, what? How did Eddie get out? Wait, no, the report said Eddie's still in police custody. So that means? Oh no, the symbiote nabbed another person. I gotta suit up as Spidey and find that goop.

" Ugh , Aunt May, well tonight has just been a,  um , blast!" Peter faked yawned, stretching his arms out as far as they could go, "You know, with uni and- and the job hunting, I'm pooped! I think I'm gonna have an early night, don't stay up too late, ya hear me!" He awkwardly smiled, kissing Aunt May quickly on the forehead before bolting upstairs.

"Oh, o-ok, have a goodnight then." she hummed out, shoulders shuddering with the slam of his bedroom door.

Once in the privacy of his own room, Peter shrugged off his clothing to reveal the red and blue suit underneath. Clicking his web-shooters into place, Peter cranked open his bedroom window and timidly peaked out, " Phew , no one around."

With this knowledge, Peter leapt out into the night as Spider-Man and swung from building to building, getting closer and closer to the city. Although the wind felt nice against Peter's body, his phone vibrating felt a little nicer; a good shock to the system.

"Er, hello?" Peter pulled the spider mask above his lips, clearing his voice.

"Hey Pete, did you see me on the news?" your voice rang out, sweet and heavenly. Peter's brain stuttered, much like his words, "Oh, erm, of course, I did! You killed it! Ho-how did you even manage that? I thought Jamerson was a strictly print kinda guy."

He could hear your faint giggles on the other side of the phone, along with police sirens, "Yeah well, I was the only reporter at the scene, saw the whole thing go down."

"T-the whole thing? What happened?" Peter was now perched on top of one of the many skyscrapers that littered the city. He could see the flashing red and blue lights, and could vividly make out the yellow police tape cordoning off a bank.

Why rob a bank, Venom?

"Anyway, they haven't caught this Venom guy yet. I'm stood outside the bank now." guess he missed your story, he was too busy figuring out Venom's motive.

"WAIT, YOU'RE STILL THERE?" Peter nearly choked, he thought you would have left by now, the story was done; he told you that too.

"No silly, the stories not over until Venom's behind bars. Jamerson told me if I don't come back with a news story featuring Spider-Man's demise then I shouldn't come back at all."

"So you're hoping to see him- er,  Spider-Man , that is? What even makes you think he'll show up?"  Play it cool Parker, play it cool.  Peter could practically hear your eye roll through the phone, "Peter please, Spider-Man doesn't sleep on this sorta stuff. Besides, whacky spider-people is all what he's about, he'll love it."

'Love it', right. Spidey loves being beaten up all the time.

"So why tell me all this?" Peter asked, suspicious. You paused for a moment, knowing you were treading old ground, "Well I know you've been looking for a job recently-"

"(Y/N), please? I am not gonna start working for the Bugle, Jamerson is a total A-ho-"

"But Peter, you love taking photos. Why not get paid for doing it? Plus, as much as Jamerson hates to admit it, Spider-Man sells copies. And Harry told me you knew Spider-Man, says you took some photos of him before but no one would buy 'em."

"I-I'll think about it," Peter hummed out, "Now will you please get somewhere safe?"

"Uh, fineee..." you dragged out, clearly annoyed. Peter could feel himself sigh out of relief, "Okay, I gotta go, May's going to bring out the pie. Talk to you later?"

"Talk to you later, Pete." Peter pulled his phone away, dropping his mask over his lips and shaking his hands out; psyching himself up.

"Alright, globby, showtime."

---

The lights and sounds that surrounded the cafe were tranquil, it almost felt ethereal. You hugged the hot coffee close to your chest, still shivering from the raging snowstorm that had taken New York in a vice-grip overnight. Mittens and a bobbled hat adorned your regular outfit today, not to mention the biggest winter coat that Harry had brought you last year for Christmas.

"It was just begging to be shoved in your closet."  he had told you.

Gwen was sitting opposite you, chatting animately to Harry about some new project her favourite scientist, Curt Connors, was working on. Harry, however, didn't seem as enthralled as she did. You were all waiting around for Parker, he had promised to be here by 1pm and it was now 2.

You thumbed through your last conversation with him over text, he was online only thirty minutes ago.

I am so dead, I am so dead, I am so dead. Ugh, how am I always late, I can swing through this city faster than a racecar and yet I'm late to everything. Hey, at least I'm only late byyyyy....oh great, an hour? Yep, I'm definitely dead.

As Peter sprinted to the cafe he and his friends called home, the previous night's theatrics were skewed across the street. A large crater in the road, some dented streetlamps, a crushed car or two. Even with all this damage, Spider-Man was no closer to nabbing Venom than he had been two years ago. It felt like he was in high school all over again.

Peter had slipped once or twice on the snow-covered streets, but with his sticky hands, he was able to hold himself up most of the time. He eventually made it to the cafe, basking in the warm and rich smell of caffeine. He could see you sat there, huddled up and waving; a bright smile on your lips.

"H-hey guys, sorry I'm late. I had some, erm,  business  to attend to." Peter rubbed the back of his neck, a sign he was nervous. Gwen and Harry shrugged it off, of course, they knew the real reason as to why the Parker boy was late. It started with Spider and ended with Man. However, you were none the wiser, and it was no fault of your own; Peter was just...shy about it.

He often thought about telling you though, but then his mind would spiral with the what-ifs and the nightmares. He'd wake from his deep trance with the same conclusion as always: You could never know Peter Parker was Spider-Man. But whenever you gave Peter a smile like that, he always thought about reconsidering, and then the spiral would continue.

"No, no, you're just in time. I got some really big news that I've had to keep a secret for so long." You squealed, placing your cup of warmth down. You peeled off your gloves, groaning as you did, "Ugh, do you know how hard it is to keep a secret so big from the people you love? It felt impossible!"

Peter, Gwen and Harry all stared at each other with forced smiles, "Nope, I have no idea what that's like." Peter hummed, sweat bedding down his neck. You dismissed him with a wave of your hand, "Well, I wouldn't recommend it, the whole thing sucks."

"Anyway, what's this great news you got for us?" Gwen asked, trying to quickly change the topic. You took a sip of your drink, "Oh yeah," you swallowed quickly, "You know how I've been doing unpaid work at the Bugle for a year now? Well, two weeks ago I got offered an actual paid job with them! Isn't that exciting? Starting tomorrow, I will be an official member of the Daily Bugle!"

" Finally !" Harry whistled, "They should have been paying you from the start. I get that in jobs like that, it's expected that you work for free, but jeez, a year? I already told you a bunch of times that my dad could find somewhere better for you, and who pays you on day one."

"I know, I know. But the Daily Bugle is home." you mused. Gwen grabbed your hands from across the table, a beaming smile on her lips, "Well I for one am super excited for you!"

"Yeah, (Y/N), glad J.Jonah Jamer-dumb is finally seeing your true potential." Peter agreed, bringing you into a side hug that sent your cheeks rosy.

"Aw, thanks, guys. It was so hard to keep that a secret, believe me. But now that the contract is finalised, I can finally talk about it with people." Your face quickly dropped, "Oh god, I gotta go tell my mother!" Grabbing your stuff, and the outstretched coffee from Peter, you fled the shop; waving back to your friends.

Peter watched you with a dopey smile, eyelids half cast, you were just perfect. If Peter had it his way, you would've been paid from day one, like Harry said.

"He's doing it again." The Osborn Child groaned, Gwen could only laugh in response as Peter fell back into reality.

"Do what? I'm not doing anything."

"Uh-huh? So Pete, when are you gonna tell (Y/N)?" Gwen asked, batting her eyes at him. Peter blushed under her gaze, acting dumb, "Tell her what?"

"That you like her bozo!" Harry huffed out, his arms folded along his chest. Peter shook his head repeatedly, "Woah, woah, woah, guys. I- I don't like (Y/N) like that, we're friends-  best friends."

" Well you better hurry, Pete. A girl like (Y/N)? She'll have plenty of guys trailing after her. Heck, even I might ask her out." Harry joked, but the underlined serious tones were there. Peter's eyes widened, a growing frown on his face, "You wouldn't." he whispered.

Harry leant forwards on his knees, "Oh, I would."

---

Swinging through New York City in the winter had never felt so good, thanks to the new suit thermals, Peter could still play superhero and stay warm; but it wasn't only the thermals keeping Peter warm. Ever since his interaction with Harry in the cafe, Parker's mind was buzzing with anger and self-doubt.

Harry would never date (Y/N), the two are like family. He'd never do anything to ruin that, right? Ugh, what am I saying? You're overthinking it, Pete. Maybe Harry would ask her out, but there's no way (Y/N) would say yes. An-and it would throw our entire group into some weird limbo, if Harry and (Y/N) started dating would me and Gwen? J-just to throw off the weird third-wheeling balance?

Peter shook his head, mind caught in a trance as he flung himself over the city streets. Although he was so deep in thought, his spider sense started going off like crazy, startling the poor guy. Flicking his head around in a 360 view, Peter couldn't see anything initially. That was until a snowball ploughed right into his face.

His swinging stuttered as he wiped away the white snowy remnants with one hand, following the aim he caught a black figure alone on a rooftop:  Venom . It had to be.

Spidey came in hard as he landed on the building, throwing webs without truly looking. But when his unbridled anger simmered down he saw that he had webbed nothing, just a very innocent snowman. Peter rubbed his head, "Calm down, Pete. You're just stressed, that's it."

Once more his spidey sense went ringing louder than the bells in his university, another snowball to the back of his head. Stumbling forward, Spider-Man backflipped as a black fist swung for his back, "Okay, so I wasn't crazy." he quipped. Landing back on his feet, Spider-Man groaned as Venom stood clutching snow in his fists, "Are you really so childish as to throw snowballs?"

"I thought we were having  sssnow  much fun," Venom cackled, pelting speeding snowballs at the spider-themed hero. Peter jumped and dived, dipping and bobbing the quickly-paced balls, "Hey, quips are my thing!" Spidey moaned out, dodging another attack, this time perching against a wall. Once he ran out of snow to throw, Venom resorted to using his fists and inky tentacles to capture the spider.

"C'monnn Venom, I thought we were friends! We bonded!" Spider-Man flipped his webs when given any opportunity to, but Venom was different to the other villains Peter had faced; Venom could easily get out of the chemical concoction.

"We were never friendsssss, Sssspider-Man issss our enemy!" another swing from a spiked fist, "Well I don't want this turning into some enemy to lovers thing, I'm strictly a no symbiote kinda guy- wait a minute, did you say  we ?" Spider-Man suddenly asked, worried. So it definitely confirmed someone was in the suit, willingly or not. But if it wasn't Eddie, then who? Peter Parker had some enemies,  sure , and Spider-Man had no end of them.

"We have come to an alliance to sssstop Ssspider-Man," Venom grabbed Peter after a slip-up in the snow,  stupid ice  Peter inwardly whined. Pulling the spider closer to his open mouth, Venom's saliva dripped and oozed down his chin, "Whoa buddy, do you need a breath mint? How well do you brush?"

"We have had enough of your gamesss, Peter Parker." with just two single words, Peter's world fell apart. Of course, he understood Eddie knew the identity of Spider-Man, and the symbiote itself only ever had an issue with the web crawler, not the guy behind it. So did that mean...no, whoever was in that suit was someone Peter knew; it had to be.

"Okay, Mr Blobby, it's time to see who you really are." Spider-Man spoke as though he was in an old cartoon, attaching some webs to either side of Venom's head, Spider-Man yanked them apart with all his strength but it wasn't so easy. Venom ended up throwing Peter in the snowman he saw earlier, though it should have been more accurately named a snow pile after Peter got up.

Some water had gotten into his web shooters, a small spark of electricity jolted out as a result, giving good ol'Spidey a little shock. Looking down, Peter inwardly cringed,  taser webs, of course, I have taser webs!

"Listen here globby, what happens when you mix electricity and water?" Spider-Man lined up his shots as Venom charged towards him, not even bothering to answer the question, "You get a big shock!" Spidey yelled out, sending off his taser webs to a snow-coated symbiote. The moment the webs hit the black mass, Venom's body lit up like a Christmas tree. Its gooey exterior was pulling itself apart, finally allowing Peter to see who was Venom's latest victim.

And the unlucky contestant wasssss...Eddie Brock ! Wait- what?

Peter's eyes widened, it was even easy to tell via the Spider mask, "Eddie? B-but the news said you were still in prison?"

Eddie, now revealed to having been Venom all along, stood on shakey knees, the black suit moulding around his face, "Sometimes the news gets it wrong, Parker. The me in the prison was a fake, thanks to one of Mysterio's old bots."

Eddie's smile was demented, his anger fueled by years of pent-up frustration and vengeance on not only Peter Parker but Spider-Man too, "Speakin' on the news, I got somewhere I need to be." he grinned, sending Peter's stomach queasy. Before Spider-Man could stop him, Venom swung away, heading towards the Daily Bugle building, "Eddie, stop!"

Peter tagged along only a few seconds behind him, "Why are you doing this? Wasn't prison fun enough the first time?" he tried to joke, hiding how scared he truly felt. Venom sent fists and jabs at the spider pest while he swung through the city, "We want revenge!" the alien goo cried out.

"Yeah, I got that part." Peter snarked, "But why the Daily Bugle, Jamerson hates me as much as you do." but even Peter couldn't help to not see Jamerson splattered across a wall. Venom turned to face the Spider-Man as the duo grew closer and closer to the building, "We're not after Jamerssson." he threw some debris at Parker, hoping to slow him down.

Peter was able to come out uninjured, but he couldn't say the same for that guy's poor parked car.

Who else would Venom be after at the Bugle? Betty? Ned? How many enemies does this guy have? C'mon Peter, think. Eddie wants to hurt you, who would he use at the Bugle to-

With that realisation, Peter swung faster. By now Eddie had already left a Venom-shaped hole in the shattered window, the whole office was in turmoil. Most of the editors and journalists had escaped or had taken refuge in the supply closet. Betty and Ned were hiding under the desk in his office and Jamerson had the balls to actually yell at the villain.

Peter had to give Jamerson some credit, he was no pencil pusher, that's for sure. But that's when Spidey noticed what was in Venom's huge hand, a person wriggling to be free. On closer inspection, he could see the (H/C) and knew it to be (Y/N). Landing on the cracked window, Peter watched with hatred burning in his eyes, "Hey Globby, you really left me hanging back there. Now, what do you say you put the beautiful lady down and we take this outside?"

Eddie turned around, the symbiote was only able to produce one expression: a wicked smile that could scare the Devil.

"You, web-head! Look at my office, look at my window! You're a menace and a damn annoying one at that!" Jamerson growled, a pointed finger aimed at the guy dressed in blue and red. Spider-Man creased his mask as his brows furrowed, "Dude, I am  literally  saving your butt right now."

"My butt was perfectly safe before you showed up in this city-"

"Ugh, not this again." Peter muttered under his breath, "ENOUGH!" Venom roared, clenching his grip on (Y/N), "We grow tired of your petty fighting, we have demandsss!"

" Demands ? What do you think this place is, the Mayor's office?" Jamerson yapped. Venom pointed a sharp finger at the head of the Bugle, "We demand a sstory!"

"Well you're certainly in the right place," Jamerson tugged at his collar, suddenly sweating bullets. While this exchange was happening, Spider-Man was trying to find the safest way to get any other workers trapped on the floor out. He knew Jamerson could blabber for the country and thought it would be the perfect distraction.

Their conversation wasn't at the forefront of Peter's mind, but he loosely listened to it, "So, what do you want this story to be about? I'll have you know the Bugle is a very reputable paper."

Venom's 'mask' slid away, revealing Brock's face for the room to see. You let out a small gasp, you had never known Eddie personally but from the stories Peter and Gwen had told you, he was a lovely guy. It was just unfortunate what had happened to him. With an evil grin and heated gaze, Eddie spoke: "Peter Parker is Spider-Man."

Your heart had stopped beating, well not really but it had felt like it. Peter Parker was Spider-Man? Your best friend Pete? Your lifelong crush Peter fucking Parker was Spider-Man? No way, absolutely not. There was no possible way that he was- but then that would explain why he was always late, and it would explain why he always had unexplained cuts and bruises. A-and it would explain why he was always busy most nights.

No. Fucking. Way.

Peter Parker  was  Spider-Man.

A loud thump came from across the room, the man of the hour stood with his fists clenched, "Peter?" you mumbled, still being held by Venom. It was all making sense to you now, that's why Eddie was here in the first place. He was using you to get to Peter, but why you specifically? Why not Gwen or Harry, someone Peter had known longer?

"That scrawny Parker boy your dating? He's Spider-Man?  Pha ! If he's Spider-Man then Norman Osborn is the Green Goblin." Jamerson crooned, his comment sending your cheeks rosy. Peter had accompanied you to some Bugle office parties and always got teased by the staff for apparently having heart eyes for you. Though you never believed them, it was just co-workers having a laugh, right?

"Eddie, if you want me then come get me. Just leave (Y/N) out of this, she didn't do anything." Peter's voice was surprisingly calm to say he was losing his mind. Eddie flicked his gaze to the girl in his hand, staring deep into her eyes, "She was involved the moment you decided to love her." he snarled, squeezing his fist. (Y/N) let out an audible gasp, pain wheezing its way through her body, "Eddie, stop!" Peter cried out.

He launched himself at the alien slime, using the high ceilings of the Bugle to swing around the room. Every web flung at Venom's face would dissolve, but Eddie's face was out in the open and Peter knew Eddie couldn't do that. So many, many,  many  webs were glued to Brock's face, lending Spidey an easy kick to the chest. The force caused the villain to stumble, releasing his grip just enough for Spider-Man to web (Y/N) out of his grasp.

He brought the girl of his dream closer to the supply closet, opening the door for her, "You'll be safer in here." he murmured. Before the webhead could dash back off into the fight, (Y/N) placed a hand over his masked cheek, "Peter, is that really you under there?"

He leant further into her palm, nuzzling into the warmth it spread through his body; that was all the confirmation she needed, "Go get 'em, tiger." she beamed.

---

The fight lasted a few more minutes before Eddie made his great escape out of the already broken window, swinging off to loiter god knows where. But that didn't matter at the moment, Peter needed to make sure you were okay. That thought came after Jamerson had already marched his way over to the panting boy, "PARKER!"

"Erm, yes, Mr Jamerson?" suddenly, as if by magic, all of his confidence from winning the fight had gone out the broken window. Jamerson prodded his finger against the 20-year-old's chest, "Look at this place! It's a mess! How am I meant to afford all this?"

Peter didn't get a chance to reply, "By taking it out of your salary!" A masked brow raised, "I- I don't work for you?"

"You don't?" Jamerson questioned, rubbing his chin, "Well you do now, and this is coming out of your salary!" (Y/N) had now joined Peter's confused side, it amused her to see Spider-Man surrounded by damage being yelled at by J Jonah Jamerson himself.

As if noticing your frame was back in the picture, Jamerson pointed to you, "(Y/N) here says you're decent at taking a photo, get me photos of Spider-Man, deal?"

"Photos of Spider-Man?" Peter challenged, Jamerson growled, "Well it should be easy for you, so do we have a deal, Parker? C'mon, I don't have all day?" Jamerson threw out his hand for Peter to shake.

"You're blackmailing me into working for you."

"That's the business, kid. Now take the offer and get out of my office before I sue you for damages."

Peter nervously looked at you, seeing your beaming smile and rapidly nodding head, he sucked down all the distaste he had for the Bugle's owner and signed his life away in the form of a handshake, "Deal."

"Great, you start right away! I'll get Betty to give you a contract, BETTY!" he yelled out, breaking the sound barrier. Jamerson then walked to his office, where the door was barely hanging on for dear life and made a few phone calls. You turned to Peter, watching in awe as he tugged his mask off and you were met with those familiar brown eyes.

"I can't believe it was you under that mask this entire time." you gawked, running a finger over his chest, slowly tracing the Spider insignia. Peter grabbed your hand, pressing a small kiss to the tip of your finger, "Do you know how hard it is to keep a secret so big from the people you love?" he hummed, repeating your words from a few days ago.

You nearly cried at the sentiment, enveloping Peter between your arms, your body gravitated towards him. You mashed him in a bone-crushing hug, one that he never wanted to let go from.
