It was a mistake. He knew it even as he pressed his mouth to Nie Mingjue's, desperate to cut off whatever furious words he'd been about to say. He knew Nie Mingjue no longer trusted him, knew he looked upon him with disgust just for being who he had to be to survive Jinlintai, and he dreaded the words he was sure to hear now that he'd resorted to this, to using his body this way, claiming a kind of intimacy he'd long since given up any right to. He pressed his lips harder against Nie Mingjue's, pulling him in by a tight fist in his collars and staving off the inevitable.
His heart leapt into his throat when Nie Mingjue suddenly grabbed him by the hips, slammed him back against the wall, and groaned what might have been, A-Yao! into his shock-slack mouth.
