Notes:

for legzy :)

Work Text:

Fauna smiled at her phone, still rereading the previous chat messages.

@ourkronii - Away

ourkronii: im comign ovre DONT MVOE

faunaceres: You don’t have to…

ourkronii: GVIE ME 19 MINS

ourkronii: 10*

The light on her face dims as her phone does as well, her eyes having closed and sleep taking over.

When she wakes up again, there’s someone else in her house. She sits up in her bed, feeling groggy and icky, and rubs her eyes. She can feel the crust of tears in the corners of her eyelids, making her irritated.

She reaches over for her phone, wanting to know how long she had fallen asleep for, but in her blind sight, she knocks it over, causing a thud to hit the ground.

Immediately, rapid footsteps approach from outside, and the door swings open to reveal a panicked Kronii.

“Are you okay?! I heard a thud!” A woman yells, chest huffing from having sprinted across the small home.

Fauna blinks, eyes still blurry, and also due to the fact she didn’t have her glasses. “Kr…Kronii?”

The woman steps closer, sitting on Fauna’s bed and coming into focus. Fauna’s heart skips a beat at the vision of her wonderful girlfriend.

“Sorry. Did I wake you up? I was trying to cook but…”

Fauna gives a little scoff of a laugh, knowing Kronii wasn’t the best in the kitchen. “You didn’t have to.”

“Yeah…” Kronii sighs. “That’s why I didn’t. I got take out instead, and was trying to clean my mess from my… attempts. Don’t worry though! I didn’t ruin anything of yours, I brought over all my own ingredients.”

Fauna pulls her knees up to rest her elbows on them before leaning forward, putting her cheek against her arms. “Thank you… even just you being here makes me feel better.”

Kronii leans forward. “Of course.” Fauna lifts her head up, a little anticipation building in her eyes as Kronii offers her hand, cupping Fauna’s cheek as she melts into the touch. “Damn… you’re hot…”

A little sputter of a giggle escapes Fauna. “Thank you.”

She can feel the hand tense under her cheek. “Wh- I meant-! Temperature! You’re- gh… burning up.” The hand tears away from her, and immediately Fauna misses the tender touch. “Here, hold on.”

Fauna doesn’t know if her chest hurts physically or emotionally as she watches Kronii’s back fade from her view as her girlfriend turns a corner. She hides her face in her arms once again, tiredness seeping in.

Once more, she stirs. This time, it’s due to a cold and damp towel against her face, wiping off her sweat. She opens her eyes, and is greeted by Kronii hovering over her with a focused look on her face. It shifts into a smile when her eyes meets Fauna’s.

“Good morning, again.”

“I fell asleep…” Fauna admits guiltily, wanting to sit up, but a sturdy hand eases her back down.

Kronii chuckles, low and warm. “You’re supposed to do that.”

Fauna tries to sit up again, but to no avail. “But I have to-”

“I already watered your plants and fed the animals.”

“And-”

“And put your laundry out to dry. I know you like your sweaters to smell like the sun.”

“What about-”

“Fauna.”

The girl in question pauses as she closes her mouth, looking up at Kronii, who looks back down at her with such a sincere smile, Fauna would start burning up if she wasn’t already.

“Anything you need to do, I’ve already worked on it. You kept your chore list out in the kitchen, and I needed something to do while I was here.”

Fauna gives a disbelieving scoff, completely bewildered on how she could have such a wonderful girlfriend. She feels the towel on her forehead move to the side a bit, as Kronii leans down, giving a small kiss to Fauna’s temple that held the love of a million centuries.

The towel is moved back into place as Kronii begins to stand again. “I’ll go heat up the soup I brought, just stay here but call me if you need anything, okay? I won’t leave unless you want me to.”

She takes a step, but any further movement is halted by the tugging on the hem of her shirt. She turns around to look at the girl lying in bed, an innocent and beautiful smile blooming on her face.

“Thank you.” A quiet voice whispers.

Kronii grabs Fauna’s hand, pressing a quick kiss to her knuckles before gently laying it back onto the bed. “Of course.”

Fauna sits in the bathtub, her hair floating on the water around her as her eyes close, the massage on her scalp working wonders.

“Don’t fall asleep, I don’t want you drowning or anything.”

Fauna picks her head up to look at Kronii, sitting on a stool next to the bathtub so she could help clean up the sick girl. “Would you be able to carry me out if I did?”

Kronii scoffs. “Yeah? Who do you take me for?” She chuckles as she rolls up her short sleeve to flex her bicep. Immediately, the room feels warmer as Fauna takes her arm out of the water. Kronii abides her request by lowering her own arm so Fauna could feel through her muscles, knowing it's one of her favorite little hobbies.

Kronii lowers herself even more, her hand moving to Fauna’s chin to tilt it up into position as she captures her lips in a tender and innocent kiss.

Fauna is the one to pull away first, a frown laced into her face as Kronii’s eyebrows furrow in concern.

“What’s wrong?” Kronii blurts out, protective girlfriend instincts kicking in.

“I’ll… get you sick…” Fauna mutters, sinking into the water again.

“Pfft,” Kronii waves off, dismissing the thought. “Nah. Besides, right now all I care about is taking care of you, so don’t worry about anything, okay?”

“... Okay…” Fauna mumbles, closing her eyes as Kronii rinses her with a bit of water, washing the shampoo from her hair.

Fauna giggles as Kronii pats the side of her body, silently asking her to scooch. “What are you doing?”

“What does it look like?” Kronii grumbles as she slides the covers over the two of them, setting her arm down on the bed for Fauna to use as a pillow as her other arm drapes over the girl, pulling her closer.

“It looks like you’re trying to get sick.”

“Wrong.” Kronii smirks victoriously. “I just wanna be close to you.”

Fauna snuggles in, hands wrinkling the fabrics of Kronii’s shirt as she surrenders into the embrace. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

“Yeah, yeah, but in sickness or in health, right?”

Fauna laughs again, unaware of her breath hitting goosebumps across Kronii’s collarbone. “That’s for if we’re married.”

“A lady can dream.”

“You just wanna sleep like this every night, don’t you?”

The hand on Fauna’s back tensing up gives her the answer.

Fauna lets out a little giggle. “Good night, Kronii.”

“G…Good night, Fauna.”

Fauna huffs as she hovers over Kronii in her bed, a damp and cold towel on her forehead.

“I told you.”

“Oh, no…” Kronii chuckles. “First a day of taking care of Fauna, and now one where she spoils me? What a shame.”

Fauna grumbles as she pokes her cheek. “You’re lucky I’m feeling great.”

Kroniii smirks, turning her head to kiss Fauna’s hand. “I bet you I’m feeling better.”
