Bakugou Masaru likes to think of himself as a kind and patient man. And with a wife like Mitsuki and a son like Katsuki, you do need some patience.
Katsuki has always been a fearless, driven, and passionate kid. He saw the Heros on TV and he self sealed his own fate. Most kids want to be a different profession every month, but not his son. He set his goal and has never wavered.
As he grew older, he paved a path to allow his goal to become a reality. He kept up on his grades, always at the top of the class. He's kept up his health, always maintaining a healthy diet and regular sleep schedule. He rarely ever indulged in anything that was 'bad' for him. He strengthened his quirk until it was as powerful as it could get.
His room was always immaculate, he bathed religiously, and has good impulse control of his money. Most parents of teenage boys think they're lying when they brag about him. How much more could a parent want?
Okay maybe a little less yelling and cursing; but really his son is mellow. An introverted boy, who rarely let people in; but once he did, you'd have a friend for life.
"Izuku doesn't have quirk but it doesn't matter! I'm still going to be the number one hero! And he'll be the number 2!" Katsuki, age 4.
"I just don't understand why he cares dad! It shouldn't matter that he's quirkless. He doesn't want me to get hurt too, so he doesn't really play with me anymore." Katsuki, age 8.
"If he would just stand up for himself! It's still his goal to become a Hero, but if he can't even defend himself he'll never become one. Fuckin Deku" Katsuki, age 12.
"He lied! TO ME! About his quirk! He's at UA too! Why did he lie for so long!!" Katsuki, age 16.
Thankfully that's all done with. Mitsuki always harped on him for not repairing their friendship but Masaru always knew they'd work themselves out. There's no advantage to rushing through life.
He worried over his 'squad' as well. He made them study and train; and in return they made sure he wasn't left out of social events. Over the years, they mostly saw the young Kirishima and young Kaminari. But a Sero, miss Jiro and miss Ashido joined a few times. And of course young Midoriya but that was mostly out of obligation on Katsukis end.
Masaru is not one to overly worry. But he can't help but wonder how Katsukis love life is. He's a young man, he should be flirting and falling in love. But him and his beautiful Mitsuki haven't heard a peep. Inko mentions young Izuku all the time.
"Oh he had a date! But they found out that they're better off as just friends. She's such a sweet girl"
"He asked a girl out but she rejected him. It would've never worked out anyway."
"He thinks he likes boys! He's got a crush currently"
"He finally confessed to his crush! They're dating now! He's such a lovely young man"
But Katsuki hasn't shown any interest in anybody. They thought, perhaps, it was young Izuku that he loved but anytime his friends relationship is brought up, he doesn't show any jealousy. Just mild disinterest. But that's okay, really, there's no rush.
They need to focus on their careers anyway. They're on the precipice of adulthood. Graduation is this weekend and there's so many parties and ceremonies to attend.
Tonight it's their turn to host. Katsuki didn't want to celebrate, said UA was the easy part. But Mitsuki won that fight. So he compromised and said all he wanted was a nice dinner at the house with the 'Bakusquad' and Deku.
Kirishima and Miss Ashido arrive first, and make themselves right at home. Kaminari and Miss Jiro, finally, show up as an official couple. Sero is the last of the squad to arrive. Then young Izuku shows up with a girl!
She's small, with short auburn hair and brown eyes. Mitsuki immediately greets her and bombards the poor girl with many questions. The girl introduces her self, a Miss Uraraka Ochako, presents a welcome gift and answers all of his Sukis questions easily.
What's interesting is Katsuki goes to stand with his mom, and greet her as well. Something he's never done before. The young lady sees his son and smiles sweetly.
"Hi Bakugou-kun! Thank you for having me over!"
"BE A GOOD HOST AND GIVE HER A TOUR YA DAMN BRAT!"
"ITS YOUR FUCKIN HOUSE YOU OLD HAG! C'mon Cheeks let's go"
Once they leave, Mitsuki shoots him a look that says 'did you see that?!?' And he nods back. But he's got to finish up dinner, so they can't discuss it now.
The come back to the main room but she's called over by Miss Jiro & Ashido. She's clearly extroverted. She has no problem chatting with anybody, and has no problem getting to know Mitsuki and Inko better.
Katsuki is not directly talking to her, but he's quietly observing her. If she is not where he thought she was, he searches until he finds her. And when they sit for dinner, he chooses to sit next to her. Young Izuku is on her other side. His wife has definitely noticed her sons behavior. She isnt as patient though. So Mitsuki goes right for the kill.
"So are you two a couple? Miss Uraraka and Izuku?" She plays dumb.
"Oh no Auntie! I'm actually with somebody else right now! But he couldn't make it tonight. So I asked my best friend to come. We're just friends" Izuku answers.
"Oh yes that's right! I remember Inko talking about him. What about you dear? Do you have a boyfriend?"
"No I don't!" Miss Uraraka answers, slightly pink.
Katsuki is glancing at her from the side. He seems to tense at his mother's question but relaxes at the lady's answer.
"I see! You're going to work for the Dragon Hero? She only employs girls right? So you won't meet any men there." Mitsuki says
"You shouldn't be having relations with your co-workers anyway. And theres no rush." Masaru points out.
"That's true, otherwise you'll end up with a loud-mouthed ungrateful brat!" Mitsuki agrees
Katsuki just let's out a growl.
"Best Jeanist is just down the street though! She could date somebody from that agency!" Kaminari points out.
"Hey Bakugou! You're going to work for him right? Know anybody who's single for Ochako to date?!?" Kirishima teases.
If looks could kill.
Masaru doesn't want to ruin this nice dinner, so he gently guides the conversation into a different direction.
"Bakugou..?" Miss Uraraka starts
But three sets of eyes look at her and it makes her laugh nervously.
"Um Bakugou-kun.." She tries again.
"You should just call me Katsuki while you're here." Katsuki offers and he's got pink cheeks that match hers.
He's looking directly at her, so he doesn't miss her request.
"...Katsuki..can you pass me the pickled veggies?" She is finally able to ask.
She's looking down at something else, so she misses the way Katsuki absolutely melts when she uses his given name.
He hands her the vegetables with shaking hands. Next to him, Mitsuki is practically vibrating with curiosity. She's probably planning their wedding.
"Are you eating?" Katsuki asks miss Uraraka.
"Mhmm! Everything is delicious!" Uraraka answers.
"No, I mean. Are you eating in general?" He clarifies.
She nods, but tilts her head in confusion.
"Its just. Your cheeks...They're not as chubby."
She lifts a small hand to her face, gently squishing her cheeks. Katsukis eyes are laser focused on her fingertips.
"Oh. Yeah I'm fine. I think my mom lost her baby fat around my age as well"
He hums in response.
"Guess you'll have to call me something else other than round face huh?" She teases.
The air around the table is suddenly unbearably thick.
Warm, humid and staticky.
Nobody is moving or eating.
His son swallows thickly and tries to shrug nonchalantly.
"Angel face still works..." he says
She looks up at him with her big brown eyes. Their eyes meet and he holds her gaze. Then he lifts his own much larger hands and gently runs the back of his fingers across her soft cheeks.
"...right?" He nervously questions.
"Sure...Katsuki" she responds.
He retracts his hand and the bubble pops. Like a thunderstorm that's been threatening to break all day, finally releases. Something has changed between them.
Masaru looks around the table to see:
Kirishima has his hands covering Miss Ashido mouth, who looks like she wants to scream!
Both Sero AND miss Jiro are covering Kaminaris mouth, his golden eyes are wild with excitement. Mistuki is gripping his hand tightly under the table. While young Izuku is looking away, his face as red as a tomato, furiously texting.
Inko makes a joke about how you get to gain baby fat back after you've had a child; and the conversation continues.
"Please excuse my rudeness, but the last train to Kansai leaves soon. Dinner was delicious! Thank you so much for having me!" Miss Uraraka announces.
"KATSUKI BE OF USE FOR ONCE AND WALK HER TO THE TRAIN STATION!"
"IM RIGHT HERE! YOU DONT HAVE TO FUCKIN YELL!"
They bicker for a few minutes while the two young adults get ready. Once they're out the door, Miss Ashido squeals!
"They're going to get together soon! I just know it!"
"How long has he liked her?" Mitsuki questions.
"First year! Remember they fought at the Sports Festival!"
Mitsuki and himself share a look. 'Katsuki has another goal' she says. And everybody knows how Katsuki gets when he has a goal.
"Yes. Perhaps they will. But again. There's no rush."
