Summary
“You didn’t do anything wrong,” Jack Abbot murmurs, pressing his lips to her forehead, before disappearing back down to the parking lot of her apartment complex. “I’ll be back in an hour. I’ll buzz three times when I’m back—I’m gonna leave my cell at home. Three times, alright? Three times, and only three times.”
Samira nods.
“Three times.”

Summary
Samira threw an arm across the side of her bed, grabbing blindly at her night stand for the ringing phone and glanced at the screen to see that Jack Abbot (ATTENDING!!!) was the one ringing her at 1:53, which was odd because she knew he had been scheduled for the night off. She thought, perhaps, that he had offered to fill in for Shen. Abbot was the only one in the hospital who could give her workaholic tendencies a run for their money.
“Hello?” she answered, switching on the lamp on her nightstand and sitting up in bed, unable to keep the gravel of sleep out of her voice.
“Doctor Mohan? Mohan. Mo-hun,” Abbot answered, and though his voice was thick and slurred in a way that Samira had never heard before, his pronunciation of her surname was perfect.

Mel continued, tactfully avoiding the argument “Uhm anyways, Dr. Abbot scares me, I can never really tell when someone’s joking but with him it’s near impossible. I mean he just stares”
“Oh that’s easy” Santos interjected, tuning back in, “When he’s talking to Mohan he’s joking, with everyone else, dead serious.”
Samira’s heart stuttered “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Santos shrugged, a small smirk on her face, “Just saying what I’ve observed.”
“What-”
“I mean he’s definitely got the hots for you Mohan.” Santos was grinning now, full teeth on display.
Whittaker scrunched his nose “Isn’t he like super old?”
Or, the year it takes for them to find each other. Post Pittfest.

Summary
"Dana said you were sick." He states. Samira blinks molasses slow, and some part of her wonders if this is the flu and not a sinus infection. She must be hallucinating, because Dr. Abbot is wearing glasses that she has never, ever, seen before. If she had, the dreams she's been trying to ignore for a year would have made them a feature. They're rectangle-framed, the black color of plastic stark against his salt-and-pepper curls. An explicable breath of fondness bubbles up in her throat, and she has to slow it before it escapes.
"You're wearing glasses." Definitely the flu.

Summary
“He doesn’t know you’re back here?” Collins cuts in, eyes wide.
“And I want to keep it that way.”
Collins snorts and shakes her head. “Good luck with that. I’m leaving before I can be considered an accomplice.”
“You already are!” Samira calls after her, but the door slides shut and leaves her alone.
She really should have gone to UPMC.
or: Samira gets in a minor car accident, and Jack has big feelings about it.
