    When Commander Cody— not the commander Hunter knew, but a near-manic, desperate man clawing at the side of his head with an awareness the Batch hasn’t heard of, not besides Rex— finds them, he collapses with his skull cradled in his fists.

    “Take it out of me,” he had begged, and they did. The clone had been unconscious for over a day afterwards, and when he awoke, he began crying almost immediately.
